edit 2/27/2024: TLDR: RIFLE IS OP, USE IT :D RIFLE IS NOW AVAILABLE AFTER COMPLETING THE ASTRAL WARD ARSENAL ACHIEVEMENT: quick summary on skill usage: - rifle 2: clone, healing, regen - rifle 3: explode early for healing, no explode for might/fury - rifle 4: phantasm for quick/alac, BIG cc - rifle 5: barrier generation, use again for portal (i don't recommend 2nd use unless for movement, the first cast for barrier is very good though) overall verdict: - rifle is insanely strong. - really good clone generation with 3 second cd on rifle 2 (with improved alacrity) - very good healing and barrier with rifle 2, 3, 5 - you can keep up 100% uptime on quick/alac with just rifle 4 off cooldown + 3 clone f1 shatter skill usage recommendation: - for low intensity healing fights, honestly just rifle camp is fine. swap into pistol/focus/shield for cc, pulls, or block as needed, similar to the playstyle described in the video. - note: if you don't plan on weapon swapping, i would HIGHLY recommend changing your relic to relic of febe for swiftness uptime since you aren't getting it from shield offhand anymore. you lose the insane healing from flock relic, but rifle is insane healing anyways so you probably don't need it. mix and match to what you like to play though - for higher intensity healing fights or a more active playstyle, swap weapons off cooldown or when certain skills are needed. try to use heal mantra while wielding rifle to generate rifle clones for more passive healing. double use rifle 3 for burst heal (if you want, you can drop well of action and let it time out for fury/might gen instead, i'd replace well of action with one of many options), and use rifle 4 for quick/alac generation and cc. weapon combo recommendations: - rifle + scepter/shield: base set for lots of personal blocking and boon generation, comfy for tanking in raids - rifle + scepter/pistol: more cc with pistol 5 - rifle + scepter/focus: add control with focus 4 - rifle + staff: if you don't need the utility from the offhand weapons, probably very comfy in fractals for faster phantasm/quick/alac generation
I was looking so hard to find a guide on heal mesmer without the rifle and so far everyone just made videos with it. I almost gave up and saw your video. That gives me so much hope and positivity to bring my heal mesmer to fractals and other contents. Thank you so much for creating this build and this video Emi!
absolutely, i'm so glad that you found the guide useful :D there's many different versions of chrono and this is just one of the ways to play it that i think is intuitive, fluid, and relatively easy for the amount of goodness that you bring to the table. i will say, i was doing a pug run of fractals last night with this, and the healing is definitely overkill :') honestly with good timing on block and stab alone, people just don't take enough damage to need healing at all LMAO. i might release another guide soon on how to play pchrono (dps, quick, and alac) while effectively making healers useless... 🤔
Oh I am so excited! I have been really loving Healbrand as a tank as well, but wanted to have some other classes in my bag to change things up. I love how flexible chrono seems, and WAY less daunting with your clear explanation and some focus on LI. I think my main worry was having all these new skills and clones (to first create them, and then figure out when to shatter) this gives me a great baseline to practice and see how the skills work without feeling so overwhelmed. Also THANK YOU for the screen pauses and arrows! Huge help to see what exactly is being explained.
Couldn't find anyone mentioning this, but after running fractals with heal chrono for a little over a week I learned a few things and figured I'd share them. I personally found it a lot easier to just use staff the majority of the time, and only really switching to scepter while in a boss. To me it just felt a lot easier to keep my boons up with staff 3 and 2, doing 3 > 2 and then casting Mantra of Recovery gives me just enough time to spend a stack and shatter, and then immediately getting 2 clones from staff 3 and using the last mantra stack to get a 3rd clone and shattering again. A lot of the time I'll simply not swap out of staff because it can easily generate enough clones to keep your boons up. So if you were like me and were struggling with keeping alac or quick up on fractal runs, try running staff!
Absolutely brilliant guide. No bloating the video to pad viewtime, just solid information presented clearly and easy to follow. Thank you so much, I've fallen in love with mesmer only recently due to how simple yet powerful Virtuoso is, but wanted to branch out now. Thank you so much, this really helped a lot.
Thanks for explaining the Mantra of Pain stuff. I tried it after reading SC discussions and was trying to spam it during my raid static runs and it was too clunky. I'm sure it's more healing, but I tried your version in a random pug run and quality of life from just auto attacking was far more enjoyable. It reminds me of PoE discussions (you said you played that game too). Difference between PoB numbers and real gameplay. Lol.
you know, i actually feel so validated that you said that LOL. i was talking in there earlier today and i totally agreed with the folks that mantra of pain is insane for pure healing, but it just feels awful to play and the healing seems way overkill. i've been successfully solo healing most raid and fractal encounters with the above build and it's more than enough, and having the extra utility slot was way more comfy since i could switch in mimic (to just spam aegis well) or extra CC. your analogy with poe is actually so good. i'm stealing that LMAO
So far she is the only one to slow things down at the end to explain the rotation for new players. I was gonna need a new keyboard for a sec meme. Seriously thoe if you have a keyboard bind Guide too please that would be incredible no idea where to put anything! playing with one hand is light years ahead for me
the stability is absolutely insane! you get a lot of self stab from shattering, so it's always 100% uptime on yourself, but group stability is also easily pushing 70-80% uptime if you spam the stability mantra as well. combined with the aegis well (and you get double if you bring mimic), no one will ever get knocked down or downstated ever again :D
You have solved my clone problem \o/ ty for the scepter tips! I was running the same build but with staff / sw/sw to try and keep phantasms and clone generations up, but it was getting really tedious. I never use scepter with mesmers, so I didn't know that you get a clone every autochain. Ty for this! Time to go watch healchrono break the game again!
glad to help! to be honest sometimes the clone generation can be overkill (you can see a few times in the gameplay examples that i don't have anything left to shatter, lol), but the quality of life is insane because you guarantee 3 clone shatters every time F1 and F2 are up. plus, having the scepter 2 block + shield 4 double block feels insanely good, especially on tanking mechanics. for example, i was running it on Q1 cm and normally you'd have to do some finicky things with side stepping the boss attacks to make sure your aegis doesn't get consumed, but with this build you can literally just afk lol
Appreciate this! Long time Mesmer main, but returning player not used to so many changes. Glad to see some confirmation that Scepter skill #1 leads to the overpowered heals I suspected it did (and that mantra spamming Pain is not worth the fun it sacrifices, though many site suggest its use). Expecting some fun when Rifle comes into this build too :)
i was always a walls chrono, never thought that mantra heal outcome was that good !! THANK YOU SOO MUCH for giving me my main char in gw2 back !! that is so much joy now again, was so hardly waiting for the rifle but yes
Thank you for this!! I'm currently playing around with heal chrono for open world (edit: for roughly 80% group content & 20% solo) and am using Marshals, to provide some self-reliance at the expense of concentration; but you've given me more food for thought.
i think open world is a totally different beast than instanced content, exactly for the reason you mentioned! having some damage is definitely nice since running full boons and healing doesn't feel super good when you're solo, haHAA. i've had a few people ask me if i think celestial would be workable on chrono, and honestly i need to do some testing and poking around before i answer that. my gut answer is that i think you're better off running something like marauder's on a pchrono build or celestial on mirage (which uses the power/condi hybrid stats a lot better). will see!
As someone that also mainly does OW content this comment piqued my interest. Are you testing a heal chrono in OW just for more survivability, or are you doing it so that you can provide support/heals during OW group content on the same build you run around the maps with?
@@thephobos1810 It's 80% for support/heals during OW group content, along with 20% _adequate_ solo ability (very survivable but slow kills). Usually for strict solo I would use my pchrono build, as Emi recommended. So I can, say, kill a Veteran Chak Lobber easily, but its noticeably slower than my pchrono, although its actually much more survivable when swarmed with chak trash than pchrono. So, currently: all Marshals except Giver amulet for toughness, Water runes, staff and scepter/sword w/Water & Concentration sigils, Flock relic (was using Herald before Emi's video); utilities: Mantra of Recovery, Mirror Images, Phantasmal Disenchanter, Well of Precognition, Time Warp (or Moa or Gravity Well per situation).
@@taginn790 Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I'm definitely going to give this a shot now. Looks like Marshals has a lot of Condition on it, too, and I prefer condi builds so this would still work.
Just ran daily eod/ds with Sloth and someone pointed you/your yt out - I thought it was a meme so looked you up; sick guide. I've been a Mesmer junkie since all the way back in gw1, stoked to have another awesome resource for mes info! Never enough hahah. Cheers. :3
@@emidotexe ya so am I haha, been on cvirt and looking for an excuse to play chrono; love to play support in most games so I’m thinking to whip up some harriers and give supp chrono a go finally! Excited to try it out in some fractals, seems really fun.
Instead of the heal mantra I run the signet, it also generates a clone on usage from the trait but also resets all phantasms (so weapon phantasm on staff or focus and perhaps disenchanter)
Mesmer is by far my favorite class and I’ve taken a break from pve but this video got me so excited to try it out in fractals and strikes. Ty so much for the guide!
I'm someone who has always had a hard time getting into the light armor classes (except Necromancer) because they are often very squishy or complicated, which leads to me constantly dying. I wasn't sure if there was a decent healer/tank combo for mesmer that was also low intensity, but after watching this... I think I may give my mesmer another look. Edit: Well I can honestly say... I can't believe it. I'm still short on some of the pieces of gear (namely the armor runes and appropriate accessories), but just from using the skill rotations and using the recommended equipment, I've had more up time with my mesmer than I ever have in the past. Thank you so much for this video.
100% agree on the mantra of pain thing, just tried playing it on fractal 100 it was a mess, it feels spammy and clunky and forces you to choose between healing, utilities and boons, meanwhile spamming healing mantra off cd and auto attack on scepter the rest of the time lets you do it all at the same time and leading your party to the victory 💪🏼 and feels way smoother and cool 😊
Great video. You talk about how all the traits and skills interactions with each other which is always the key part of how support builds work. Video is short and yet pact with information and well produced. Thanks for the effort!
i completely agree! i think one of the coolest part of most "meta" builds is how all of the traits synergize with each other, and this build is hopefully no exception. knowing the fundamentals about *why* a build works goes a long way when playing the build because it makes it more "intuitive" to understand and play :D
Fantastic guide, I have not played Chrono in any form for a long time but this makes me want to give heal chrono a shot. I already pity my team as I learn lol.
i've always said that chrono is one of the classes where more time and effort = more and more effectiveness! the build above is a super new player friendly and low intensity version, so i hope it won't be too tricky to pick up!
Time to dig out my Tank Chrono from the times Raids released - its been so long, but I still have my Minstrel set with Leadership runes … :‘D Great video! Concise and not too long either, but had all necessary information.
Generate 3 clones with sceptre. Enter continuum split immediately after you switch to staff and use staff 3. Spam all of your wells, staff 4 and 5, and all of your shatters. After CS, you can use your staff and well skills again and switch back to sceptre. Personally I'm using blurred inscription instead of restorative illusion for the 5-man boon extension buff from signet of inspiration plus the aoe aegis from pressing the signet. If you wanna switch utility, switch well of action first. I also use shield 4 just to help me maintain protection.
Finally someone who agrees with the Mantra of Pain thing, i dunno why people keep recommending it to me, yea i get it gives Might, some healing and throws Vulnerable on targets but you waste so much time with it, would rather throw a third well in there before Pain.
honestly i fell in love instantly with the rifle. I also think Illusionist could be a nice option once the rifle went live for a healer build. It has so much healing output, but lacks a bit of flexibility compared to Chronomancer. Worth testing a few things out but Chrono always will be the Queen when it comes to healing and boon-uptime, imo
Omg this was exactly what i was looking for! I love Mesmer but didnt know if healing on it was viable. Being able to quick, alac, power, condi, and heal all one class is exactly what ive always wanted 😅 ty for the very informative video!
Great Video for me who loves playing everything healing in the game and well I'm going to add that to my style of play. And a big thank you from a French player :)
Thankyou for this, I might give it a crack. Chronomancer is one of those elite specs that I was absolutely amazed at the theme but they always felt so squishy in open world (my main method of play) that I always just felt like it wasn't for me, but I always side eye the chrono as a spec that i'd love to be able to play (the time theme is divine).
@Emi As a weapon recommendation, i like to run scepter+pistol as my off-hand set with reneval and paralysation sigills. So whenever i need additional cc or emergency burst heal just swap.
Here's the real challenge: Heal Alac Mirage, rifle allowed. I pulled off permanent alac, Protection AND regeneration on staff on the beta character, more than enough time window to switch to rifle in panic heal situations and back. It's not easy, but you can pull it off. Gears: Runes of Leadership, Sigil of Concentration, Sigil of Transference, Relic of the Adventurer, a mixture of Giver's and Minstrel (to tank) or Plaguedoctor (to not tank) for stats. On rifle, replace Sigil of Concentration with Sigil of Energy. Specs: Chaos 2-2-3, Inspiration [situational trait]-2-3, Mirage 2-2-1, Skills: Mantra of Recovery for heal and clone generation, Signet of Inspiration, Signet of Illusions, [Free Slot], Signet of Humility. Before fight, precast Mantra of Recovery. Opener: 4, 5, 2, 6, 6, Staff Ambush x 2, F2, F1, F3, Signet of Inspiration. Then from there just build up 3 clones before Staff Ambushing using your 2, 3, 6 as well as passively from Signet of Illusions. Signet of Inspiration should be used whenever it cools down, but preferably after a staff ambush and exhausting your F1-3. Staff 5 -> 2 is a combo to generate Chaos Aura and Regeneration. Note that each charge of Mantra of Recovery with this configuration will proc Relic of the Adventurer and give you 50 endurance. Ego Restoration procs on Mantra of Recovery's flipover skill and has no internal cooldown, that's why your skill 6 is also a clone generation tool. In panic heal situations, swap to rifle, proccing Sigil of Energy, immediately do Rifle 2 and Rifle Ambush. If you maintain good alac uptime while on staff, you have comfortably have the 8 second window where you still have alac before back to staff. This build has F4 on standby for panic stability, Signet of Humility on standby for cc phases and a free slot to adapt to situations.
I'd like to also recommend to run Signet of Illusions, it recharges your shatters even on a full continium split duration you can spam a lot of shatters for a huge ammount of heals and boons, this week i used it for slothasor and the stab uptime with this was great! take in mind that shattering also cleanses 2 conditions so its perfect for an encounter like this one.
specifically for quick/alac, the duration is based on how many clones you shatter, so if you're doing 0 clone shatters, you need to make sure you're also casting phantasms since that will generate boons too! there could be any number of reasons but that is the one that stands out to me since fractals are way faster paced and you likely won't have time to just sit on scepter. i would recommend staff 3 since that alone will give you 5-10 seconds depending on your boon duration :D
Do you think plague doctors can even enter the discussions for a more hybrid approach? Or is the healing tradeoff not worth the extra condition damage?
Great video made me look at heal chrono again. The alac trait does not provide alac on shatter like its quickness counterpart. This makes camping scepter a quite shakey for newer players if they're not swapping to staff or spamming the block off cd. For alac, the sIgnet heal on staff with a relic swap would be more forgiving.
micro hi stretched time (the alac trait) also applies alacrity on shatter because the tooltip says that "flow of time" (the personal alac trait) is now shared with allies. i've also tested this in game a few time and never had an issue :O
tysm, I was getting tired of gw2 content since I wanted to learn to tank and be "the carry" which is heal tanking in this game and playing dps is boring but I just hate the current good healers. Firebrand is too spammy and has a god awful boon radius, I hate the mechanist pet with a passion and refuse to play it, tempest requires a Phd to play, is too squishy, isn't that great of a tank and has little reactivity for healing which for me makes healing unsatisfying and Herald kind of has to choose between giving boons and healing which feels terrible for me and also takes the spot from a firebrand in fractals. Maybe now I can finally seize my dreams of being the mvp heal tank with chrono. Not to meantion mesmer is by far my favourite class thematics wise to play
i've been asked about that many times on stream since i play a ton of flavors of chrono (pchrono, cchrono, quick/alac chrono, now heal chrono!) and ive done things in super high end content too (low mans, speed runs, etc)... but the honest answer is that i'm quite lazy when it comes to this stuff ^^; honestly since this video popped off really hard, i might genuinely look into doing more videos, and i can reach out to some friends in different discords to help me look over the script and add in more info that i might have missed! so tldr: maybe :D
Yes! This build so much. Been playing the exact same build, aside from using sword offhand instead of shield in most cases for even more clones since patch day and share your opinion of it being way strong and fun
great minds think alike ;D i can definitely see a situation where sword is comfy, the instant phantasm generation (instead of the delayed one from shield 4) is another QoL, but just a quick note in case you or anyone else is reading this, remember that the sword 5 boons are only on yourself
@@emidotexe definitely true, but the other thing is being able to upkeep way more chaos aura uptime, since sword 5 is a leap, depending on the fight this can cover swiftness better then shield 5. but ye, both i think are definitely viable, heck, u can always take focus and not really feel u miss either of those that much, and pulls are also nice ^^ mes just have so many options now on how to build for healing;o another idea i wanna test out - wondering if chaos aura alone can cover enough prot to take master of manipulation instead of illusionary defence, with blink that would be insta aoe aegis on a 14 sec cd :D
Thx you, I was wondering if I can turn my mesmer from c.virtu to h.chrono since my team lack heal quick, was afraid it will be hard to play but your way seem very chill, I'll try that as soon as possible !
Hello Emi 😊 I want to try this build on a combination of gears. Like Harrier's weapons and armors and Giver's trinkets. Do you think that would affect the overall healing effectiveness?
Thanks for the video! Subscribed. Also tip for staff, you can cast staff 2 on top of ethereal field (staff 5, your non-heal & non-elite wells) to grant chaos aura, and therefore regen to your party. And can I ask, why not relic of the monk? Especially since they remove the internal cooldown with 28 Nov patch
Monk is definitely a great option, but u do heal enough without it, barrier is essentially an overheal that acts as a buffer for when u put your big heal (mantra) on cd. definitly would recommend. Febe can also be nice, especially if u dont use shield, or just need to make sure swiftess is covered, since swiftness nowadays is kinda hard to come by in some comps and there are encounters where it helps more then ppl give it credit. Another option could be midnight king, with shield, could probably swap out well of action in that case. Thats just from the top of my head. theres more good options im sure, and im wondering about lyhr relic but am pretty sure ud just oneshot youself with it :D
yep, like our other commenter friend said, i do think that the synergy between flock relic and the heal mantra is just super value because you're getting full value out of the relic with nearly perfect ICDs (10 seconds on flock, 10 second cooldown on mantra + 1ish second to cast both, so only 10% downtime on the relic). the barrier is a great buffer before big mechanics happen, and it will combine really well with the rifle on release (rifle 5). monk is a very standard relic though, so i think it's perfectly fine if you just want raw healing output! though just some things i heard through the grapevine: supposedly monk is bugged at the moment and it does have an ICD? i think it's been reported already though, so hopefully it is fixed soon!
With the recent changes to chrono, it has become my favorite class to play for pretty much everything. dps, alac dps, quick dps, heal quick, heal alac with all of them offering incredible utility, damage and healing where needed while being engaging to play and being great in open world and instanced content. Seriously what more could you want?
Really easy to understand guide, thanks! Im curious about sigils, since ive found sigil of water to be somewhat lackluster on other builds. Are there any other good ones? I tend to use sigil of paralyzation on most encounters (with transcendence as the other one of course).
I decided to try it and didn’t understand at all how to support quickness or alac. With 3 clones, 7 seconds of quickness or alac. If you are distracted by people, then immediately minus buffs. And this is practically a full harrier. Honestly, it’s somehow too hard for a healer.
it is worth noting and i will add this in a pinned comment as well, this video assumes you already know the basics of mesmer, which includes how illusions, clones, and phantasms work. the traits seize the moment (quickness) and stretched time (alacrity) provide boons on BOTH phantasms and shatter. this is the main reason why i recommend to start in staff to use staff 3, which immediately provides about 5-10 seconds of quick/alac depending on your boon duration, and combined with the constant 3 clone shattering, that should be enough buffer in case your attention slips. if you're still having trouble, then just cast shield 4 and let it fully charge once every 20 seconds or so to summon another phantasm
I prefer to prioritize F3-F1 unless I know I didn't catch members of my party with tides of time or well of action. Might from those has a ridiculous 30s duration with max boon % so it's generally more comfortable to me to buffer the boons I know will fall off sooner than that. Also I feel that the non-tank statline of choice might actually end up being Plaguedoctor, pretty much all the weapons you use are condi heavy and on top of that just got pretty major condi damage buffs. This'll be less true for rifle users when that comes out, ofc.
as i mentioned in the traits section, you take seize the moment for quickness or stretched time for alacrity. you maintain it either by summoning phantasms or shattering.
@@emidotexe Thanks Emi! You are amazing. I didn't realize the flow of time affects allies bit and got so confused on how we maintained it! But this makes tons of sense.
Thanks for the build Emi!! Been running this but having some trouble keeping up permanent quick/alac (It's around 80% ish most of the time) :/ Not sure what I'm doing wrong, maybe I'm not spawning clones the right way after the opener?
depending on how much boon duration you're running, you probably need to splash some phantasm summons. shield 4 is a channel that will summon one, and staff 3 is another cast that will summon two! keep in mind that minstrels has less concentration than harriers/givers, so if you're having trouble but don't want to press extra buttons, you can swap on rune of water (+10% boon duration) and/or sigil of concentration (also +10% boon duration) :D
@@emidotexe ooo right right, gear mix, I'm running a mix between harrier/minstrel, totally forgot about that! But yea, I think I'll swap out the sigil of waters with sigils of concentration as well, should see some impact there. Thanks again!
so you actually bring up a good point and i kinda glossed over it in the video, but i was running minstrels + food/util! the minstrels provides quite a bit of toughness, which reduces incoming damage, so that likely buffered me quite a bit. that being said, i did test it out with a friend who sat in the golem room with me, and i was able to keep them topped off too! just a few things to make sure to do: - use heal mantra off CD and drain the charges immediately so it can start recharging again - if people are dropping really hard and you run out of shatters, you can swap to staff and use staff 3 for a big burst heal - make sure you're still using your well of action/precog, the end heal still does quite a bit (around 3-4k i believe)
Hi! Thank you for this guide, it’s been really helpful for me on this amazing journey. Altough, whenever I try to practice on the golem, I CANNOT MAKE IT ALIVE :S i just die, if not at the start then like 10s into the combat. I noticed that I have a lot less hp than you do at the start of the fight. I have around 19k hp while u have a lot more. Im running the same build as you did, with staff and sc+shield, except I was running two magi rings, just because I had them on hand. Could that be the reason I cant survive? I will try to change them to full harrier but for now Im trying to make it work as much as possible. I also run a relic of flock, rest is full from snowcrows, yet still, my hp on the extreme threat damage level is dropping soooo fast. I try to follow the exact rotation as you did, but I still cant keep up with healing myself up to escape a lurking death 😢 My friend advised me to drop one of the weapons and just use rifle instead, but im not sure which one should i even drop. It seems much harder to play rifle properly as well. Any tips?
hi, as i said in the comments/description, yes rifle is definitely your best option as heal chrono right now :) if you want detailed usage information, i'd recommend giving my notes a read! this is because they buffed rifle significantly compared to when it was released in the beta event, and just camping rifle and using rifle 2, 3, and 5 off cooldown should help you do a lot of healing
Hi Emi - this is a really good heal chronoguide! Just a quick question, i was wondering how often do u crit and trigger the water sigil when you are in full minstrel. Thank you.
thank you so much, i'm glad you enjoyed it :D as for the crit, i honestly don't pay much attention to it, so good question lol. i glanced back over the footage in the video, and it seems like i'm getting at least 1-2 crits per second. i checked in game stats too and i'm sitting at 30% crit chance with fury! water rune has a 5 second ICD anyway, so you should be getting full value even without investing into precision
I've been running my CM's Statics with this last couple of days. Have you played around with a Celestial Build Due to the massive amounts of possible conditions to maybe get at least 10k dps? I've tried Plagedoctor and Celestial and am struggling to get to 10k to compete with Cele FB and Cele HAM.
honestly it's on my next thing to try out :D i recently started a new job so i haven't been able to play degen amounts of time like i used to, so i focused mostly on the healing part of the build. i don't really play celestial builds since i either go full on healing (solo heal shenanigans) or i go full on dps (pchrono, condi mirage, etc). i'll have to play around with it since i've been asked about it a lot, and i'm thinking about some mix of the new condi chrono build i've seen floating around, combined with the build above!
it depends! if it's a block heavy encounter i'll usually keep shield and swap off staff, but staff is a really nice way to generate healing/boons because of the clones and phantasms on staff 2/3
the website is outdated yes, but the order of the traits should be the same in game :) the devs likely have not had time to update the API endpoints for the new traits, so i'd give it some time \o/
is it just me or am i able to get both 100% alac and 100% quickness using the quickness trait? also mantra charges heal now + relic of the flock turned the barrier into extra healing and barrier only when overhealing oml i love this update. one more thing i spam my 2 scepter skill to generate an extra clone + 1 charge of heal mantra + 1 auto attack chain to get 3 clones easily and i dont need staff to get 3 clones easily for the start of the fight (also i precharge my stability mantra to have easy access to aegis + stab in the beginning and on demand heals lol) sry bout the long comment
the alacrity you're maintaining is from a different trait that gives you alac on shatter, however the grandmaster alac trait *shares* that with others. if you're running the quickness trait, then you do not share alacrity (it is only self generation) but yes, the mantra changes and flock relic are great! more sustained healing and the heal mantra procs the flock healing off cooldown :)
i think that you already have plenty of might and fury generation from well of action, f1/f3 shatter spam, and shield 5, so i think it's a bit overkill ^^; it's also worth mentioning that in most encounters, you'll be playing with other players that are splashing boons across your subgroup. example i always use is any form of DPS mesmer (pchrono, cvirt, etc) since they always take the dueling trait line, which gives 5 target fury when they summon a phantasm. there's plenty of other examples too! that being said, i do think there are a ton of good options for relics, but i didn't want to bog down the video with it. off the top of my head: relic of the monk (pure healing, easy to get), relic of karakosa (when rifle is released, it synergizes very well with rifle 3), relic of febe (more consistent swiftness uptime)
edit 2/27/2024:
TLDR: RIFLE IS OP, USE IT :D
RIFLE IS NOW AVAILABLE AFTER COMPLETING THE ASTRAL WARD ARSENAL ACHIEVEMENT:
quick summary on skill usage:
- rifle 2: clone, healing, regen
- rifle 3: explode early for healing, no explode for might/fury
- rifle 4: phantasm for quick/alac, BIG cc
- rifle 5: barrier generation, use again for portal (i don't recommend 2nd use unless for movement, the first cast for barrier is very good though)
overall verdict:
- rifle is insanely strong.
- really good clone generation with 3 second cd on rifle 2 (with improved alacrity)
- very good healing and barrier with rifle 2, 3, 5
- you can keep up 100% uptime on quick/alac with just rifle 4 off cooldown + 3 clone f1 shatter
skill usage recommendation:
- for low intensity healing fights, honestly just rifle camp is fine. swap into pistol/focus/shield for cc, pulls, or block as needed, similar to the playstyle described in the video.
- note: if you don't plan on weapon swapping, i would HIGHLY recommend changing your relic to relic of febe for swiftness uptime since you aren't getting it from shield offhand anymore. you lose the insane healing from flock relic, but rifle is insane healing anyways so you probably don't need it. mix and match to what you like to play though
- for higher intensity healing fights or a more active playstyle, swap weapons off cooldown or when certain skills are needed. try to use heal mantra while wielding rifle to generate rifle clones for more passive healing. double use rifle 3 for burst heal (if you want, you can drop well of action and let it time out for fury/might gen instead, i'd replace well of action with one of many options), and use rifle 4 for quick/alac generation and cc.
weapon combo recommendations:
- rifle + scepter/shield: base set for lots of personal blocking and boon generation, comfy for tanking in raids
- rifle + scepter/pistol: more cc with pistol 5
- rifle + scepter/focus: add control with focus 4
- rifle + staff: if you don't need the utility from the offhand weapons, probably very comfy in fractals for faster phantasm/quick/alac generation
what sigils for rifle?
Rifle is SOOOO good I definitely feel you on camping it. Pretty Pink Portal Pellets are just too fun
@@tonyjo5224 i've been using water/transference as base set, and switching to paralyzation when i need more cc!
Using rifle for wvw is worth the chance with full minstrel armour? Or do you see rifle as a PvM weapon only? Nice video btw
I'd love to watch your video series! It'd be amazing for mesmer mains out there looking for guidance.
Clearest guide with simple rotation advice ive seen. Wish you did more
i plan to remake this with the updated rifle, but likely after the balance patch mid march! i have a few more ideas for other builds too :3
@@emidotexe guess I'll have to wait a few weeks....! Thank you I plan on using rifle now and struggling through till then
Oh I am so excited!
Superb work. The extra mile you went with editing made the guide easy to follow
Great video. Love the pinned comment. New to Mesmer and this helps A LOT!
Seriously thoe if you have a keyboard bind Guide too please that would be incredible no idea where to put anything! playing with one hand is light years ahead for me
The timing of this after I just finished crafting xiuquatl as a legendary scepter is perfect. Setting this up now!
Chrono just went from mind meltingly complex to a walk in the park
I was looking for a guide like this! Pumped about the buffs, enjoying heal chrono on strikes and convergences. So much stab. Thanks for the guide.
the stability is absolutely insane! you get a lot of self stab from shattering, so it's always 100% uptime on yourself, but group stability is also easily pushing 70-80% uptime if you spam the stability mantra as well. combined with the aegis well (and you get double if you bring mimic), no one will ever get knocked down or downstated ever again :D
Thank you for sharing this Emi
i was always a walls chrono, never thought that mantra heal outcome was that good !! THANK YOU SOO MUCH for giving me my main char in gw2 back !! that is so much joy now again, was so hardly waiting for the rifle but yes
Ehhhh really close build to what I am doing... but man.. Healing on a tempest just seems cleaner. Trying so hard to make this work right now.
This video is a blessing. I was looking for this EXACT thing on patch day. Thank you for sharing!
@@thephobos1810 Forgot to mention: using the same traits as Emi except Medic's Feedback instead of Restorative Mantras.
@@taginn790 Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I'm definitely going to give this a shot now. Looks like Marshals has a lot of Condition on it, too, and I prefer condi builds so this would still work.
After not finding any useful guides on this and theory crafting by myself i can tell for sure there's still a lot to learn on mesmers
Just ran daily eod/ds with Sloth and someone pointed you/your yt out - I thought it was a meme so looked you up; sick guide. I've been a Mesmer junkie since all the way back in gw1, stoked to have another awesome resource for mes info! Never enough hahah. Cheers. :3
LOL ty! i was in the group too and it was a friend meme'ing on me, but i'm glad it ended up bringing you to the video :D
@@emidotexe ya so am I haha, been on cvirt and looking for an excuse to play chrono; love to play support in most games so I’m thinking to whip up some harriers and give supp chrono a go finally! Excited to try it out in some fractals, seems really fun.
really looking forward to the new weapons being released for real (not beta). While some are stronger than others, they all seem really unique.
Subscribed. I was on the verge of quitting chrono for good then stumble upon your video. Thank you
I'm just starting the game and this is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing!
This is a build I was looking forward to definitely going to be rotating it into my play.
Time to dig out my Tank Chrono from the times Raids released - its been so long, but I still have my Minstrel set with Leadership runes … :‘D
Great video!
This was so awesome and cemented Chrono as my definitive next hunt for hero point unlocks.
honestly i fell in love instantly with the rifle. I also think Illusionist could be a nice option once the rifle went live for a healer build. It has so much healing output, but lacks a bit of flexibility compared to Chronomancer. Worth testing a few things out but Chrono always will be the Queen when it comes to healing and boon-uptime, imo
I fell in love with heal chrono back in HoT, so glad to see it back. Great video!
Thank you so much for the video, Emi. I started maining chrono because of you!
Omg this was exactly what i was looking for! I love Mesmer but didnt know if healing on it was viable. Being able to quick, alac, power, condi, and heal all one class is exactly what ive always wanted 😅 ty for the very informative video!
Damn I recently started supporting as tempest and now I see this and want to try it as well. Nice guide!
Thanks for this, will try this out. I can't wait to join pugs as dps/qdps/adps/qheal/aheal/portal/tank/offtank/pull without changing characters 🙏
You descended from heavens with this build. I was trying to cook heal chronomancer for don't know how long.
Look in the comments here for a thread started by taginn790 - we discuss open world versions of this build. :)
I shall take a gander @@thephobos1810
Even more reasons to get legendary armor so switching gear is easier
Specs: Chaos 2-2-3, Inspiration [situational trait]-2-3, Mirage 2-2-1,
Skills: Mantra of Recovery for heal and clone generation, Signet of Inspiration, Signet of Illusions, [Free Slot], Signet of Humility.
The best, simple, concise guide. You ate that up ngl😂
Amazing video! It helped me so much to improve my chrono! thanks Emi
The mantra heal and barrier is very smart and great. I'll probably do that combo from now on because I forgot that the mantra heal is a 10 second cd.
Well put together video! Has got me interested in trying this out in my strike CM static as I'm getting bored on my current builds
Loving the rifle heal chrono
on golem fights I feel like boons are good but while playing fractals boon uptime is just horrible haha. am I doing something wrong?
specifically for quick/alac, the duration is based on how many clones you shatter, so if you're doing 0 clone shatters, you need to make sure you're also casting phantasms since that will generate boons too!
there could be any number of reasons but that is the one that stands out to me since fractals are way faster paced and you likely won't have time to just sit on scepter. i would recommend staff 3 since that alone will give you 5-10 seconds depending on your boon duration :D
@@emidotexe alr thank you for answering ☺️
Do you think plague doctors can even enter the discussions for a more hybrid approach? Or is the healing tradeoff not worth the extra condition damage?
YYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH HEAL MESMER LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (I’m a li’l excited)
Thank you so much for this!
Thanks for this video :v I was just finding it out by myself
But you make me feel more comfortable wth my choise
I swear by 'Signet of Illusions' !! Not only does it generate a clone every 10's but it also refresh's all your shatters for amazing uptime or burst!
Great video made me look at heal chrono again. The alac trait does not provide alac on shatter like its quickness counterpart. This makes camping scepter a quite shakey for newer players if they're not swapping to staff or spamming the block off cd. For alac, the sIgnet heal on staff with a relic swap would be more forgiving.
micro hi
stretched time (the alac trait) also applies alacrity on shatter because the tooltip says that "flow of time" (the personal alac trait) is now shared with allies. i've also tested this in game a few time and never had an issue :O
@@emidotexe omg. ok that's busted. i can't read
tysm, I was getting tired of gw2 content since I wanted to learn to tank and be "the carry" which is heal tanking in this game and playing dps is boring but I just hate the current good healers.
Been wanting to learn how to play mesmer generally so this is helpful. Any chance you’ll do more of an in depth class guide?
i've been asked about that many times on stream since i play a ton of flavors of chrono (pchrono, cchrono, quick/alac chrono, now heal chrono!) and ive done things in super high end content too (low mans, speed runs, etc)... but the honest answer is that i'm quite lazy when it comes to this stuff ^^; honestly since this video popped off really hard, i might genuinely look into doing more videos, and i can reach out to some friends in different discords to help me look over the script and add in more info that i might have missed!
so tldr: maybe :D
@@emidotexe lmao i appreciate the not so definitive answer. Given you said you’re lazy, it seems completely in character 😂
I'm partial to using signet of illusion versus well of action lots of synergy with the build
Yes! This build so much. Been playing the exact same build, aside from using sword offhand instead of shield in most cases for even more clones since patch day and share your opinion of it being way strong and fun
great minds think alike ;D
i can definitely see a situation where sword is comfy, the instant phantasm generation (instead of the delayed one from shield 4) is another QoL, but just a quick note in case you or anyone else is reading this, remember that the sword 5 boons are only on yourself
@@emidotexe definitely true, but the other thing is being able to upkeep way more chaos aura uptime, since sword 5 is a leap, depending on the fight this can cover swiftness better then shield 5. but ye, both i think are definitely viable, heck, u can always take focus and not really feel u miss either of those that much, and pulls are also nice ^^
mes just have so many options now on how to build for healing;o
another idea i wanna test out - wondering if chaos aura alone can cover enough prot to take master of manipulation instead of illusionary defence, with blink that would be insta aoe aegis on a 14 sec cd :D
Thx you, I was wondering if I can turn my mesmer from c.virtu to h.chrono since my team lack heal quick, was afraid it will be hard to play but your way seem very chill, I'll try that as soon as possible !
Wonder if able to do a variant of this with out any mantra and only wells, really dislike the nerf to them awile back where have to recast again.
Heal chronomancer feels so good
Hello Emi 😊
I want to try this build on a combination of gears. Like Harrier's weapons and armors and Giver's trinkets.
Do you think that would affect the overall healing effectiveness?
thanks for the video! do any pvpers who might be reading this know if there's a heal chrono build for pvp? i'd be interested in seeing it
Excellent guide ! You are a real PRO girl ❤️
feel like i always get shafted FB for fractals but this looks like a solid replacement
Thank you, this is awesome
Illusionary Inspiration is a heal on illusion spawn, not clone. That means summoning a phantasm heals twice ;)
This looks great! What changes, if any, would you make for WvW?
HFB is quietly laughing in a corner of the room
question how do you make your mouse cursor like that ty
Game Menu (ESC) > Options > General Options Tab (Wrench Icon) > Right at the top you'll find CURSOR CONTRAST.
How do you maintain alac/quick? or is this not the right one for alac/quick chrono?
as i mentioned in the traits section, you take seize the moment for quickness or stretched time for alacrity. you maintain it either by summoning phantasms or shattering.
Thanks again!
might finally give mesmer a proper go
Hi, nice! Did you try trailblazer chrono for solo bounties etc? Just want to know, if it's better for solo (: thanks a lot!
Never been more excited to go back in jail.
Is it possible to maintain the golem pressure if we play full harrier stat. i tried several times ... i die ...
Ty for the video
so you actually bring up a good point and i kinda glossed over it in the video, but i was running minstrels + food/util! the minstrels provides quite a bit of toughness, which reduces incoming damage, so that likely buffered me quite a bit. that being said, i did test it out with a friend who sat in the golem room with me, and i was able to keep them topped off too! just a few things to make sure to do:
- use heal mantra off CD and drain the charges immediately so it can start recharging again
- if people are dropping really hard and you run out of shatters, you can swap to staff and use staff 3 for a big burst heal
- make sure you're still using your well of action/precog, the end heal still does quite a bit (around 3-4k i believe)
@@emidotexe Thank you so much for this answer! No doubt our healing capacity with the rifle in 2024 will be even better.
I try to follow the exact rotation as you did, but I still cant keep up with healing myself up to escape a lurking death 😢
My friend advised me to drop one of the weapons and just use rifle instead, but im not sure which one should i even drop.
Thank you.
thank you so much, i'm glad you enjoyed it :D
as for the crit, i honestly don't pay much attention to it, so good question lol. i glanced back over the footage in the video, and it seems like i'm getting at least 1-2 crits per second. i checked in game stats too and i'm sitting at 30% crit chance with fury! water rune has a 5 second ICD anyway, so you should be getting full value even without investing into precision
@@emidotexe thank you.
I've been running my CM's Statics with this last couple of days.
Have you played around with a Celestial Build Due to the massive amounts of possible conditions to maybe get at least 10k dps?
I've tried Plagedoctor and Celestial and am struggling to get to 10k to compete with Cele FB and Cele HAM.
honestly it's on my next thing to try out :D i recently started a new job so i haven't been able to play degen amounts of time like i used to, so i focused mostly on the healing part of the build. i don't really play celestial builds since i either go full on healing (solo heal shenanigans) or i go full on dps (pchrono, condi mirage, etc). i'll have to play around with it since i've been asked about it a lot, and i'm thinking about some mix of the new condi chrono build i've seen floating around, combined with the build above!
is it worth spamming the scepter 2 skill for clones?
yeap, specially with quickness.
@@ayalabaleeiro8398 thank you 😃
Oh and which weapon is the focus replacing? staff or shield?
it depends! if it's a block heavy encounter i'll usually keep shield and swap off staff, but staff is a really nice way to generate healing/boons because of the clones and phantasms on staff 2/3
Thank you very much. The link for the build has outdated traits as it seems, though?!
the website is outdated yes, but the order of the traits should be the same in game :) the devs likely have not had time to update the API endpoints for the new traits, so i'd give it some time \o/
is it just me or am i able to get both 100% alac and 100% quickness using the quickness trait? also mantra charges heal now + relic of the flock turned the barrier into extra healing and barrier only when overhealing oml i love this update. one more thing i spam my 2 scepter skill to generate an extra clone + 1 charge of heal mantra + 1 auto attack chain to get 3 clones easily and i dont need staff to get 3 clones easily for the start of the fight (also i precharge my stability mantra to have easy access to aegis + stab in the beginning and on demand heals lol) sry bout the long comment
the alacrity you're maintaining is from a different trait that gives you alac on shatter, however the grandmaster alac trait *shares* that with others. if you're running the quickness trait, then you do not share alacrity (it is only self generation)
but yes, the mantra changes and flock relic are great! more sustained healing and the heal mantra procs the flock healing off cooldown :)
emi dot chrono
Thank you ❤
lack sustain on wvw, maybe when rifle its up will be more effective
What's your opinion for Relic of Midnight King, or that is too much waste?
i think that you already have plenty of might and fury generation from well of action, f1/f3 shatter spam, and shield 5, so i think it's a bit overkill ^^; it's also worth mentioning that in most encounters, you'll be playing with other players that are splashing boons across your subgroup. example i always use is any form of DPS mesmer (pchrono, cvirt, etc) since they always take the dueling trait line, which gives 5 target fury when they summon a phantasm. there's plenty of other examples too!
that being said, i do think there are a ton of good options for relics, but i didn't want to bog down the video with it. off the top of my head: relic of the monk (pure healing, easy to get), relic of karakosa (when rifle is released, it synergizes very well with rifle 3), relic of febe (more consistent swiftness uptime)
"heal chrono is back", when did it go away?
