This was a huge help. I had my RV at a dealership service center fixing a slide issue and when I got it back, the D seal was falling off. I called them and they said I could drop it off but no ETA to fix. I've watched a lot of your videos (very helpful) and this was exactly what I needed to see! Thanks again for explaining this and showing me how easy it was to just fix myself! Anything to keep it away from a dealership.
Glad it helped. I will say check out this video of mine. Such a huge upgrade and you won’t have these problems anymore. 👍🏼 GREAT RV MOD! - How to Replace Your RV Slide-Out Seals th-cam.com/video/8E_gR4IrRF4/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Friend! We picked up a new East to West Silver Lake Travel Trailer and My D-Seals (took forever to find out what they were called) were not secured from the factory. Your video showed me exactly what I needed. I need a set screw to keep these seals in place. The bead of calk has broken on them all as they are moving around. Super helpful video my friend. Thanks!
You know what’s crazy is even with two set screws and a washer now I still have one on top of my slideout that still comes loose going down the road, rips through the set screw and starts sliding off. It’s crazy. I just put new sealant on it so I’ll see if that finally helps. For the life of me this one D seal is just set on coming off down the road 🤷🏻♂️ Appreciate you watching 👍🏼
Great step by step tutorial. You are right - preventative maintenance is always something you need to be thinking of and thank you for the reminder to take a look at ours! And will have to check out that sealant - thanks!
Thanks for all your help with RV repairs, have you ever used 3M Black Weatherstrip Adhesive (08011) on your slide out rubber installation? This is the adhesive use in installing windshield in automotive, bonds great with rubber and fiberglass.
Appreciate that. It’s funny you mention this cause last time I replaced one about 3 months ago I was going every where trying to find that 3M product and all of the stores only had the 3M yellow…who wants yellow??!! Hahaha Thanks for watching Tim 👍🏼
Thanks for this video. The interior d-seal on my slide out literally just started to come off the track. Now I just need to figure out how to get my body between the entertainment center and the slide to put it back on!😂
Thanks. I will say this is a very old video and there is a way better system of seals I’ve switched over to now. Check out this video to see it 👍🏼 GREAT RV MOD! - How to Replace Your RV Slide-Out Seals th-cam.com/video/8E_gR4IrRF4/w-d-xo.html
Thank you very much for this video! I knew I would have to address the problem after noticing our top one are worn similar to yours. I am not very handy but after watching your tutorial on how to do this I am confident that it's something that I can easily do as well. Thanks again for taking the time to put out this type of content!
Thanks for addressing this topic, though I do have a question for you and hoping you can help. The wiper seal on top of my RV is loose and not snug to the top of the RV. But, it looks like in order to replace that seal, i have to remove the D seal, does that sound right? And if so, then I guess i would also need to replace that if there is any cracking and then i would also need to reseal with caulk??
Sounds about right. The D seal is just easily slid into that track. Without going up there I can’t really remember what the wiper seal is attached to or how. I’m thinking it’s part of the track but not sure.
Good deal. I will actually be switching over to the one piece Flip n’ Seal soon. High qualityGerman automotive grade rubber that is one piece. I’ll have a video on it soon. amzn.to/3y6RXeV
Great video. I like and use the lexel also. Tricky though , very small bead dip finger in mineral spirit and softly not to squish everywhere smooth fast. Leave it alone don't even think about it lol. It has held up very well on my toy hauler. Again, great video time to tackle the slide seals.
So many possibilities. Sometimes it’s the screws that leak, windows, the slide tracks, RV not level and water running back in…it’s so hard tracking down a leak sometimes. Good luck, hope you find the issue.
Is the set screw 1 inch or 1/2 an inch? Thanks The guy that i had replace my D seal replaced it with to small of a screw and it pulled out of the wall. I just dont want to go through the other side with to long of a screw. Thanks again... great video....
Wish I could tell you but I don’t really remember and I’m not near my RV for a few weeks. You can always go to the other side find the set screw and back it out to match it up I suppose. Wish I could help more. Thanks for watching too 👍🏼
My D-seals look pretty easy to replace, they just go in the channel. I'm trying to find info on how to change the flap inner seal that comes out when the slideout is out. That looks like it might be a bit harder to change.
I’d replace it. Make sure the set screw on both ends are secure. You could even use a super glue to glue the D seal into the track. I’m actually working on a project replacing all my cheap Chinese rubber D seals with a one piece rubber bulb and wiper. No more track. It’s German automotive grade rubber too. Here’s a link. Video soon. amzn.to/4c7XzmW
Mine definitely is and im replacing. I got a combo of the wiper seal and d seal (rail for d seal is built on wiper, my original looks seperate). Comes with adhesive back but you can screw in too- seems easy enough all together
So what keeps the water from coming in I have a slide that wasn’t built right and has a hole on each side of the bottom of the bedroom slide and leaks water when it rains
Thanks but you may want to watch my new video. Way better system! GREAT RV MOD! - How to Replace Your RV Slide-Out Seals th-cam.com/video/8E_gR4IrRF4/w-d-xo.html

Give me that look extremely easy! I was curious what it would entail to replace those seals. Thanks for the tutorial.
Sure thing. Pretty simple job as long as the track that they slide onto is still in good shape. Thanks for watching 😁

Always some kind of fun maintenance project to be done 🤷🏻♂️ , small price to pay for life on the road!
Great informative video. Seems pretty straight foreword. I'm sure most folks forget about ever checking their seals. Thanks for sharing! Steve
Thanks. The maintenance is a never ending battle with these RVs and I do wonder how many people actually keep up it. Appreciate you watching. 👍🏼

You always have great ideas, thanks for all you do. I checked with O’Reilly’s, they have it in stock. I think I will try it this time.

I’m doing mine today.
Straight to the point.
Thank you 👍🏼👍🏼

Great step by step video of how to! We hope we have a couple of years before we have to do this! Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

Appreciate it guys! Just another exciting fun maintenance video 🤣
Do you know what size screw goes in for the D seal? Thanks
Fantastic Video, Is there a video on replacing flat seal on a Grand Design Reflection. I'm stumped 👍
Thanks. I don’t have one or know of one personally. But I’m sure if you search enough you ll find something. 👍🏼
Perfect, thank you. Ordering the items today. Well done.

Good deal Steve. Next time I do the job I think I’ll try Lexel. Never look forward to that job though lol
Very informative and practical advice as always. Thanks! 😊
Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching Ron! 👍🏼👍🏼
What would cause my slideout to leak if it is not the D seal? I've already had my roof and slides sealed.

@@marilyngatson2289 good deal 👍🏼 Hope it worked out.

Haven’t had to change one of those yet.
@@WhyWait looks like they are pretty easy as well, just have to unpinch the metal channel at the bottom and they just slide out.
i have a d seal that pulls/ falls off the track everytime we open the slide - any suggestions?
I’d replace it. Make sure the set screw on both ends are secure. You could even use a super glue to glue the D seal into the track.

What about the flap underneath the d seal. Why is no one talking about that one? Thats the one I think is leaking

Great, simple much needed information. Thanks for sharing.
Sure thing. Appreciate you stopping over and checking it out. 👍🏼
Lexell is not recommended by the manufacturer for use with rubber so you may want to update your video to reflect that.
you DO need to to water proof the ends...we left one extended for 2 years and water poured in on the slide motor
Thanks for the information, this is definitely something I need to check on mine.
Yeah that sun over time gives them hell. 👍🏼
Just the tutorial I needed! Thank you
Sure thing 👍🏼😁
Thank you for information. It help me alot.

According to the web Lexel will not work well on rubber.
