Katie, after a week of horror, loss, growing tension and despair, your amazing voice penetrated my soul and opened it to cleansing tears. The original title of this hymn is "Stille mein Wille, dein Jesus hilft siegen" written by the German writer Kathrina von Schlegel in 1752. Ciao Gianfranco.

Beautiful, thank you for sharing it. We just said goodbye to two faithful brothers in Christ who we have known for many years. This hymn is a song of love, encouragement and our blessed hope.
I am not a religious person, but I can still appreciate what a beautiful piece of music this is, and very appropriate in these current times. A powerful and heartfelt performance.
@@sassysandie2865 We have to be careful picking at people's words too much. I'm guessing that's what Matt meant in his own way. Thankfully, God doesn't expect us to express ourselves perfectly.
Sacred music often has a great and memorable history behind it. In the late 1600s and early 1700s, Germany was predominantly Lutheran and experiencing a religious movement known as the Pietistic Revival. The Pietists emphasized living a virtuous Christian life, and encouraged their followers to express their devotion by writing hymns. Katharina Amalia Dorothea von Schlegel was part of this movement, and likely came from an aristocratic family. She also may have belonged to an evangelical women’s seminary. Born in 1697, Katharina was a talented published poet and penned at least 20 hymns, including “Be Still, My Soul.” The text was sung to many different tunes, but it wasn’t until the 20th century that it was paired with its current melody. Johann Julius Christian Sibelius, later known as Jean Sibelius, was a Finnish composer and violinist credited with having helped Finland create a national identity in the early 20th century during its struggle for independence from Russia. In 1899, he wrote a symphonic poem as a covert protest against Russian censorship. While much of the piece is energetic, representing the Finnish people’s national struggle, toward the end the serene melody of “Finlandia” is introduced. “Finlandia” became a national favorite when Sibelius reworked it into a standalone piece. Sibelius composed prolifically, but he also spent time reworking many of his old compositions. In 1927, Katharina’s hymn text was paired with “Finlandia,” and it remains the most well-known musical melody for the hymn today.
This song really ministers to me some days nothing makes sense I've had to struggle to serve God for years but especially the past 7-10yrs we were homeless off and on for a while and we've struggled financially for a long time but when I look back I see how Jesus protected and took care of us when I couldn't see how He would come through!
Katie, I’m home doing some long overdue spring cleaning. I was going through some boxes of cards sent when my parents died … and I was reduced to a puddle of tears. I’d saved your song to my playlist yesterday but had not yet heard it. As I sat alone among these memories and in such pain, your song cued up. It was perfect timing … of course, God’s timing always is. What a powerful message. Thanks!
I found this song a few days after finding out I had tumors on each kidney & listened every day for 4 weeks before surgery. Beautiful vocal, even more beautiful is the breath of God moving through you in this inspiring song. You are truly filled with the Spirit. Love your family, as Jesus Christ shines through each of you.

Robert, masterfully done I felt heaven very near, and the character of God made open thank you I have never heard that done so well and so divine in content. Wow beautiful wow never heard it done better you made an old hymn full of wow surely God Blessed that to many hearts.
I'm usually not speechless, but "WOW". These last few years have taught me patience, that I never knew before. But I still can't help but wonder when......? Then I remember, that He's always known when, where, why, and what extra special occasion, He's been saving you, and your incredible family for. Though I am thankful that He has blessed you with a platform, to inspire us all in the meantime. Guess you learned me, 'bout puttin' my overalls on, braidin' my hair, and requestin' the "Allman Brothers".
Katie, you are a very talented young person. I discovered this video at the right time because the Lord has helped me write an address this morning which I am to deliver to some high school students on Friday. This song reinforces, for me, His presence in my life.
I appreciated this very much today in all the things happening globally as well as locally. In our hymnal it is the same tune used for hymn sung by Jim Elliot and the other 4 missionaries martyred in Ecuador in the 1950s which is also appropriate today. 1 We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender; We go not forth alone against the foe; Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender. We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go. 2 Yea, in Thy Name, O Captain of salvation! In Thy dear Name, all other names above; Jesus our Righteousness, our sure Foundation, Our Prince of glory and our King of love. 3 We go in faith, our own great weakness feeling, And needing more each day Thy grace to know: Yet from our hearts a song of triumph pealing; We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go. 4 We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender: Thine is the battle, Thine shall be the praise When reigning in the Kingdom of Thy splendor; Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.

Be still my soul. This is definitely the theme of the Christian. We have 80 years maybe some a few more some less. But the Christian walk is simple. In it's simplicity in becomes incredibly complex. We want to take charge! We want to grow and fulfill our dreams. While ambition is not bad. Most of the time it's not good either. The walk that God wants for everyone is a humble walk. A walk of prayer, humility, fellowship with your brethren, to be ready to express your faith gently and with love to the passerby, and to work with your hands to live. This is hard to do especially for the younger generation. We have to take a deep breath and be still and just walk the walk of the humble pilgrim onward to the celestial City. SLP.

You always sing with heart and soul. Your fans love you so much.
Ocean is not a wall, your songs reach us and our hearts. You and your family really walks beside us through these crazy times . Ciao from Italy. Gianfranco.
Katie Petersen what a beautiful beautiful job you getting more beautiful with your sining every day God bless you my dear. From Alberta Canada.
Only someone with great faith and a beautiful soul can sing it this way.Thank you Katie!
Soothing and beautiful! As others have said, peace and calm are just what we all need in these troubles times. The old hymms like this are the best.
This peace in Christ is what every person needs. Thank you, Katie, for your lovely rendition of this sacred hymn filled with love and truth.
Breathtakingly beautiful. Another tour de force.
God gives peace, Jesus gives rest. Man's journey is long but his time is short.
A beautiful moment can give hope.
The people of faith are to rest on God's past faithfulness and promises...looking to the final destination yet not knowing where each step will take up. Hebrews 11 is a blessing to me. We are to rest in God's faithfulness to his people and to continue to walk with him despite how circumstances appear.
Love the sigh at the end. This song is a real blessing.
Beautiful. You really shine singing for God, to His glory.
So another week is finish and I hope to be faithful to Jesus, cause alone we can't go anywhere. Ciao from Italy
Ciao Gianfranco. Come promesso ti mando la traduzione di questo bellissimo inno cristiano.
STAI SERENA ANIMA MIA
Stai serena anima mia, l’ora sta arrivando
Gianfranco.

Wonderful, Katie! God bless you, and your Family, and the World! From Hungary.
Beautiful, thank you for sharing it. We just said goodbye to two faithful brothers in Christ who we have known for many years. This hymn is a song of love, encouragement and our blessed hope.
♥️♥️♥️
I am not a religious person, but I can still appreciate what a beautiful piece of music this is, and very appropriate in these current times. A powerful and heartfelt performance.
It’s not religion it’s a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus. There’s a difference. John 3:16.
When I listened to this, it gave me such a sense of peace. The lyrics along with your piano playing and singing is so beautiful. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this, Todd ♥️ you’ve encouraged me as well.

Thank you Katie. Only to exist. Ciao and good night from Italy.
Italy loves Katie Petersen and her family. Ciao from Italy and God bless all of you.
1
We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender;
We go not forth alone against the foe;
Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender.
We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.
2
Yea, in Thy Name, O Captain of salvation!
In Thy dear Name, all other names above;
Jesus our Righteousness, our sure Foundation,
Our Prince of glory and our King of love.
3
We go in faith, our own great weakness feeling,
And needing more each day Thy grace to know:
Yet from our hearts a song of triumph pealing;
We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.
4
We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender:
Thine is the battle, Thine shall be the praise
When reigning in the Kingdom of Thy splendor;
Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.
With everything happening in the world, this is the perfect time to post this particular song. Love ya, Katie, and keep shining His light!
Well said.
Ditto 👍
One of my favorites, thank you Katie❤
Oh Katie. Just what we need here in Europe right now, Something to give us hope, that there IS STILL good in this world. Hearing your wonderful voice feels so good deep in my soul. You make us feel there's hope. Thank you.

Ok I've listened to this many times, loved it from the first time, now it is the song that I want in my head and on my mind when I get anxious about what is happening around me in my daily life or if I watch current events too much. I hear your voice singing "Be still my soul" and all is well. Thanks Katie! Paul C.
When you sing, the name of Jesus is so true trhough your voice.
That song just begs for a bass and violin on the bridge and outro. Magnificent.
Katie Barefoot Katie that was a beautiful song you do look different it must be your hair stay on the path the Lord will lead you where he needs you to go I'm going to say it again that was a beautiful song stay healthy stay safe don't forget to hug your family don't forget to pray
Very nice treatment of this song. One can tell it comes from the heart through the voice. Blessings.
Every time I hear this hymn and the meaning of the words reminds us how too many works it must do to built a real world in peace without wars and pain. Great Katie. We are with you. Ciao from Italy. Gianfranco.
Thank You for this Beautiful song , Praying for Peace, and Stability in the World !! 🙏
SLP.
Wow, that was great. Cant listen to you sing and feel any stress. 😊
nicenicenice !!!! i like this. btw i got my Petersen tshirts today and i LOVE them because everyone asks "what is this Petersen shirt??????????????" and i tell them about your family and all.... thank you and your family for the music.

This song i remember from my youth. i havent heard it in a long time. but Katie you sing it beautifully and it has moved me. Got me crying.
Songs lamenting broken relationships have a place, but your clear gifts are wonderfully best put to use singing God's praises imo. For both yourself and your listeners. Thank you🙂
What a beautiful and appropriate and encouraging word to her, friend!
We’ll said!
Thank you for sharing your gift.
It’s also the better rendition I have ever seen
Thank you Katie, very beautiful, you are doing the Lord's work. Using your gifts to glorify our savior. On a few certain occasions I'm sad to say anxiety creeps in, perhaps sometimes just to many unknowns for me. Well I'm pleased to say that your songs, videos, prayers and also your humor all have helped with that. A work in progress, Calming, reassuring, comforting, all come to mind. So thank you Katie, thanks to all the rest. See Y'all mid month.
Happy Easter to everybody and also to the all Italian friends of Petersen family and aggregate people. Aaron, Emmett. Ciao from Italy. Gianfranco.

Probably we never meet in this timeline, but I 'm sure you feel my friendship,' cause love is a word too much great to say. We meet in the other life prepared by our Lord. Ciao Katie from Gianfranco.
Thank you Katie for again blessing this old heart. You are truly a lovely lady in every sense of the word. Thank you for again reminding me of the touch of Jesus' loving hands. God bless and preserve you.
Simplicity at its best!
Katie, I have heard this over and over, by watching and just recalling it. I don't intend to take the glory from our Lord by any means, but I just felt the need to add that I think this is your strongest vocal that I have heard. The key and your range is wonderful. "Then you will better know His love, His heart" and "When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone"; your conviction explodes and leaves me almost weeping. All glory be to our God!

Your singing is great, and your phrasing makes it even greater.
