  • Building in Ghana: Paying More Than 50% Upfront is Asking for Trouble. Don't Get 'Bamboozled' by paying more than 50% of Labor Costs!" upfront. Paying more than 50% of the labor cost upfront in Ghana is asking to inviting trouble to your construction project with open arms. It's a common scenario where artisans, upon receiving a substantial portion of their payment, either divert their attention to other projects or leave yours hanging mid-way. This practice, unfortunately, has become a notorious trend in the construction industry. By adhering to the 50% rule, you safeguard yourself from being duped and ensure that artisans remain committed to completing your project before moving on to the next. It's a cautionary measure that not only protects your hard earned money but also preserves your peace of mind throughout the construction process and avoid headaches.

(AshantiQueen) I just subscribed to your channel. 🎉🎇🎉🎇.
I'm an African-American male in my 40s. I'm interested in moving to Ghana. I have not been to Africa yet, but I chose Ghana, because I did two DNA tests. My African ancestry test, on my mom's side, says I am 100% Akan. The Akan, are in the Ashanti region. I'm looking to move to Kumasi.

That's wonderful. You'll love it. The good outweighs the bad. All the best.

Same problem applies abroad, never pay too much upfront.

Nope, in the west the bank pays for your house unless you have the cash to build upfront. Most houses are on credit 💳 by a bank and you pay a monthly mortgage. Thank you

@@foxygtv1328 Not paying all upfront does not just apply to when building, it could be for renovations, decorating or anything to do with work to existing home. Not only when building.

Hey Sis! Thank you so much for the excellent tips. I appreciate that you were able to break through the norm of paying 30% upfront payment for labor before the work starts. I hope that with more people using mobile money, it will become standard to set up and use a Construction Escrow Account when building in Ghana. By the way, your home is coming along beautifully. I love the colors, and the summer hut is stunning; it reminds me of many homes in Togo.
I also want to thank you for sharing a bit of your hike with us. Please forgive me if I don't want to introduce fear to something that you enjoy doing, but I would suggest live streaming to family and friends and/or carrying a peacemaker 🔫with you when hiking alone. It's because there are many crazies in America and they love to prey on women who hike or jog alone.
Once again, thank you for the great tips. You are an inspiration! ✌🏾💖🙏🏾👸🏾

@YenkoAfrica: You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you for your comment and advice. Some of my videos are actually over a year old. I appreciate your advice. There are so many hiking trails in California. I make sure I hike where there's constant traffic and on a trail/path, with hiking groups/bikers. I'm African, we do things a bit differently but it's always good to be extra careful.

Why do you peopke come on you tube to moan about everything. I live abroad building my house in Ghana using local Ghanians and i have no problems. I am not even Ghanian. Workmen will even delay their own paynent and use the money to buy materials like cement and blocks just to keep the job going. I treat them with utmost respect. There are many sides to these stories. Some of you will come to you tube to exaggerate stories just for views. Please get a life and make interesting content not these doom mongering

@lilacer6841: That is such a low mindset. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen to others. I continue to share both the good and the bad. I'm sorry that you can't handle my truth. I'm glad you've had nothing but good experiences. I'm actually very happy for you. But know that we don't always have the same experiences. I can think of so many topics that will generate more views. Building in Ghana is just not one of the topics. All the best. I have more lessons learned videos coming. Watch or don't watch.
