So, in the books, several parties sought to capture her in order to impregnate and produce an even more powerful child with the elder blood.
Those short travels are so helpful in a fight, the best way to deal with somebody trying to hit you with a weapon is to simply not be there.I was planning to read the books and watch the Netflix series, and after watching several interviews with Henry Cavill, I gotten even more interested in seeing it.

I have read the first three books but I am not sure if they just spead up some of the scenes or cut material. In my mind the scene in which Geralt was hunting the Sylvan and was captured by the elves was longer and more elaborate.

At the start of the main book series, she's around 12 or 13, and by the end she's closer to 16. I think by the time of the Witcher 3 (the only game she appears in) it's been about 7 years since end of the books, so in The Witcher 3, she supposed to be in her early 20s.
One comment on the Witcher on NF: Ciri's contact lenses are TERRIBLE. NetFlix movie has made me completely be disinterested in Ciri and Yennefer. Keep thinking Yenne is useless! NetFlix movie has made me completely be disinterested in Ciri and Yennefer. Keep thinking Yenne is useless! All the portals she can conjure and yet doesn't when they head up the mountain to get to the dragon, doesn't when headed to the hold to stop the bad guy army. If she hasn't any control over where her portals go, how is it she doesn't create a portal a mile under the ocean, inside an active valcano etc., someplace that would instantly kill her or all that step into her portal?
