Lukather is another living legend himself. He's way humble considering how crazy prolific the guy's been. Super cool, super talented.
The best and actual pro's are often humble and friendly
They got it and don't have to prove anything anymore ;)
And having that energy gets you more jobs
Tommy T supervised me in the studio once...wonderful guy..scared me so bad I messed the part 2 times..he folded his arms and I nailed it..found out later that if I was to miss the 3rd time he would have pulled me off the gig..trial by fire..loved him.
This dudes list of recording credits is just astonishing. Absolute legend.
I once had a nice lunch with Steve and the Songwriter/Producer Mark Hudson, about the time we were working on a Ringo Starr record; late 90’s.
Really? What did you order to eat?
Luke is brilliant. Unbelievable musician.
Tommy T gets High praise… whatta beast of a player. Played on so many tv shows and pop songs that we grew up with and loved🤘🏾
Tommy’s son did a great job honoring his father’s career.heck it out here on Utube
Luke is such a awesome dude! Honest and humble to a fault for a guy at his skill level.
Saw Luke at the Palomino Club one night in North Hollywood in the late 80's, was just getting into the scene at the time and didn't realize what I was being treated to. Wish I could relive that show!
Dayam!! Love listening to Luke. He makes everything he does seem so much easier and clearer. Even though the rest of us know how insane his skills are and how talented he really is. I'm a massive fan and love his work. Great bloke too.
About to start reading Steve Lukather's autobiography. Can't wait to start it! This stuff is so fascinating.
Ooh. I didn’t know he had one. I’ve got to read that.
It's a scream, so many stories, ppl
The Gospel according to Luke
If you start reading, cancel all appointments for the week…coz you wont stop until done from cover to cover
Monster guitarist.
🔥🤟
😊I think Mr.Lukather just explained Peg in a way that even I can understand.
Man I would've loved being out there in LA then, but especially to get involved in session work. Got dreams of rewinding and walking into Sound City 50 years ago.
I learned that Jay Graydon did that fantastic keyboard work on Manhattan Transfer's "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" in 1980. incredible!
The funniest thing I ever saw was Steve’s morning serenade to the gardener’s leaf blower!
One of best to ever do it, and always lots of fun - you gotta love Lukather.
Classic Beato interview gold: When Steve goes upper register and says "There are only 12 notes and they've been played" 8:35
he is giving us all permission to steal his riffs like he stole and so forth and so on down the line for the ages ... Sometimes all you need is permission
Luke is such a phenomenal musician, one of that class of guitarists who are just on a completely different level from mere mortals. He comes across as such a great guy, not a jerk at all. In every interview I've heard him in, he's clear that it's all about the music, not his ego, which is so refreshing. (For the record, I feel the same way about Steve Vai and John Petrucci. Incredible players, who seem to be genuinely nice guys, too.)
Ye Tommy Tedesco, what a legend 👏🔥
We love you Steve
great interview, great history and info from Luke!
I just subscribed Rick. Keep em coming! I love your videos.
Awesome interview.
Very cool to hear this discussion.
Hey thx for the heads up I didn’t know it was 2nd channel. Love your show
Didn't even know there was a RB2 channel... sub'ed!
I love your channel ❤❤❤😊
5-Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great clip, great musical brain
This is awesome!
How can somebody not love Luke?
Sitting down and having a deep and meaningful conversation about studio session players is 5D Chess.
Luv Rick & luv Luke even more
Tell the folks at home who Tommy Tedesco is…
Jeez, if only we could've been hanging out with Larry Carlton back then. Those were some great stories!
Tommy's upside down playing came on a Jan & Dean date. Jan Berry accidentally put it upside down on Tommy's stand. Was I there ? NO But this is according to Glen Campbell who was.
I subscribed!
Its interesting
Within 5 minutes of an instructional video Steve made decades ago I was in stitches. Fabulous musician who's funny as fuck. What's not to like?
Oh, and he's incredibly humble. More please.
Well... now I've subscribed 😉
Subscribed.
Nice, i have Tedescos book
Wow! Michael Landau Carlos Vega Steve Pocaro
Hey,as a non-studio/ session guy, where could I find more stories like Luke is talking about here?
Steve best in the Toto band 💪🔥
What chord/scale is being implied with a D♭ chord over an E bass? The intervals from E would be ♭2 3 and 6 right? From 7:50 - some kind of altered scale?
Half-whole diminished is one option
Why are there two Rick Beato channels?
kewl
Proud member of the 13%. 🙂
🎸🎶💈
Luke. The best of the Best 🎶🎵
What year did Steve turn into my mom! Damn mom you can play!
Great channel Rick. Love the inside scoop on things.
Well hello Rick Beato Rebel 2
❤😊
Ooooooh he started touching on copyright there at the end, without actually talking about copyright.
Better guests than Luke. Impossible
Wonder if Steve is/was a fan of Alexi Laiho?
sub'd
Luke is starting to look like the crazy old uncle that's not allowed to watch the kids.
The crazy uncle who doesn't want to take care of annoying brats and just wants to enjoy his life.
i don't understand the need for a 2nd TH-cam channel?
Different content presentation. This one tends to be deeper dives.
Clips and deep dives.
TH-cam's algorithm wants each channel to make the same video every time, or at least the same format. So if you want to do something different sometimes and not lose all your subscribers you have to make a second channel.
Just to throw it out there.....I have never subbed to a YT channel of anyone's.
He's got the same hair as my nan
His hair SUDDENLY turned gray...
Rick, you gotta deep dive into INXS, are they pop, rock, funk, R&B or...
If Tom T came into a studio and I had a guitar strapped on me some pee would have come out.
Hmmmm - didn't find this one that "insane".
nul mais c'est mieux que médecin en France
Great guitarist, bad weave.
Great player 🎸👈👍
Studio Musicians are still Musicians no matter what. They still know how to Play an Instrument. Just because they are not on a Stage making money showing off in front of people does not make then any different at all. They still got the Gift given to them from God in heaven above. I am a Musician but just have not every used my gift that has been given to me.
