    Spike, If I were to ever be SO LUCKY as to find such a point as you have, I would put that screaming hot point in a back lighted case to show off its absolutely spectacular beauty. That point must have been just as special to its original owner as it is to its second owner. It will be hard to top that find as you well know. I enjoy watching your channel and hope you guys have many more great hunts together. It must be nice to have someone to share your passion with. Dig on fellows...

      Thanks! If I had known what I really had I would have been even more excited. It's not a Benton but rather a St. Tammany point, a rare localized point and a fine one at that. Thanks again.

    Y'all definitely had an awesome day . That first one was a killer . We have a creek up here in Alabama where we find hundreds of sharks teeth and an occasional arrowhead . Y'all come up for a visit sometime . That material you are asking about is another type of Tallahatta quartz . I think ? If I could see it better I could tell for sure . It could also bee Coastal Plains chert .

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      wadoman699 Thanks for the great compliment.The swamps of the south do tend to present obstacles at times. I wish I had discovered creek hunting years ago. Randy's cousin told us over 10 years ago how they went "scratching" in the creeks and showed us his collection. Still, it wasn't until we got to watching you guys on TH-cam that we said, "now we get it".

    Absolute smoker Spike, your probably still on cloud nine over that one, congrats! Point #4 Randy found looked kind of like petrified palmwood at first glance. The father and son find was really something else, a great memory for sure, what it's all about. Congrats to Randy and Chance! Another possibility to consider on the mystery material is silicified sandstone, but it's hard to tell with the creek stain.

    The "limestone type material" is TQ that has degraded from acid in the soil. When found in the water it will be pristine like the day it was made. The big Kirk Stemmed spent most of its time in the creek. When it has spent millenia in acid soil it will get downright "rotten". TQ comes in several colors of black, gray, brown, and others, with the white polyps in it. It is the calcite polyps that dissolve in acid soil.

    I just watched this video today 12-1-17 and wow what a point. The snake makes me very nervous but that point is awesome. I love your video's Spike and Randy and Son. Randy is doing something with his son,my son wont do much with me these days so cherish every moment and I am sure you do. Great video as always. How toxic is the cottonmouth venom to an adult?

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching it. To answer your question, cottonmouth venom is usually not fatal to humans and it is my understanding a bite can be treated fairly successfully although there will be pain! There is that ever present danger of being bitten on these creeks and we have come close so many times I can't count them all. Thanks again and GL&HH.

    Did you make those tools you use to "scrape" for points?

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David Vrona Yes sir, we sure did. The sticks in this video are made from wooden dowel, small garden rakes and 1/4" steel rods for the probe ends. We learned the hard way that wet wooden dowel tends to split easily so I added the pvc caps to each end then I came back and coated them with polyurethane. When the weather cooperates again, we are planning to make a video on how we use the probes. I'll try to remember to cover some of the tools we made and how we made them. Thanks for the question.

All are the same shape but different sizes and thickness . One has a broken tip but what's strange is the stone is a grey color inside. Someone suggested Polished Meteorite but I don't think so. I have 7 total , all found within a 5 foot radius of myself in about 5 inches of water close to shore. If anyone want's to see pics and can tell me what they are I would be greatly appreciated.
