This is the exact reason why independent artists or underground artists don’t sign. And are using other platforms other then the big record machines backing them!

Independent artist don't sign because most of them have not been asked to sign anything. Most will sign if given the chance. No matter how many stories they've heard about the artist being screwed.
A lot of these "independent" artists are signed but to farm and development situations. xxxtencacion is a real good example. he was on Empire and I know for a fact a good portion of that staff has ties to different majors.

So the label RECOUPS every penny spent on the artist. The artist won't see a dime or a Royalty Check. So whatever money the get upfront that's really a loan. So out the gate the artist is already in dept. Third that's the reason I started my own label and got my own artist and showing them how to build their own brand and not just be an artist or just a producer. Conduct yourself as a brand and it's closed curtains. Everybody in the music business know their business models isn't to make artist and producers rich. So what do you do especially in this era. You use your brain and your talent to create your own LANE. No one mentioned Contracts! Artist & Producers you need to start drafting up your own contracts for your services especially if you have a following. Get your business ethics in place and stop complaining when the label takes advantage of you. #johngreasy #ggmg #weglobal #wegone
