    I Tried all the lenses (Sony, Tamron, Sigma), but the colours I get from this art lens are something unique

  • @arhon888
    @arhon888 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I have this lens also. I started with this lens and do agree. This lens covers everything, well, for 95% of the time anyway. For me personally, I did need to compliment with an ultra-wide too, which in reality was only required for 5% of the time (establishing shots and tight situations). However, moving towards the telephoto end of the spectrum, on the odd occasion when I need a little more than 75mm, I could punch in even closer with crop mode. I have also used crop mode in conjunction with Clear Image Zoom which is probably one of Sony's best-kept secrets, as this enables me to go even closer with almost no loss in sharpness!

    • @BabyJay
      @BabyJay ปีที่แล้ว

      what is clear image zoom?

    • @arhon888
      @arhon888 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @BabyJay It's very similar to crop mode. It enables you to utilise the camera's high res. sensor to give you a little more reach. I tend to go for crop mode first and if I need to zoom in a little more with clear image zoom. Clear image zoom and crop mode are almost identical. The disadvantage of CIZ is that that you cannot use some of the features such as object and eye tracking when activated, this is why I go for CM first. CIZ appears to display a little less noise.

    Definitely gave me new confidence in my Sigma 24-70 for my Sony. Great video! Maybe you could make a video how to get the most out of this lens and the sharper shots from it? Also certain filters you would suggest for it, brand and type. Very well spoken!

    Thank you for showing the difference between 24mm vs 28mm. Trying to decide between Sigma’s 24mm - 70mm f2.8 or the newer 28mm - 70mm, I’d been seeking the visual in many reviews and finally found it here. And all the points you made were great, practical, concise, and made tons of reasonable sense!

      @@JonathanPalfrey Due to a need for my new and first mirrorless full-frame camera at a specific event, I had to get a lens and went with the Sigma. It was unfortunately a hair before the announcement of their II. It was on sale then for $100, now it’s discontinued by $200. 😅

    Not for work, I recently bought a second hand a7r III. I very much agree and did get the Sigma 24 - 70 2.8 as my first E-mount lens (also not new). It's performance is just so worth it and I would absolute skip on plastic lens options as I have bad experiences with those already from the past. Next up: Sigma 60 - 600 DN. Guys, get the g master. Don’t be cheap. It’s totally worth it over sigma. Autofocus is insane and the colors are stunning. Sigma lens automatically has these yellow orange warm colors vs Sony is exactly what your eye sees. Trust me I did over 1 month of research before buying the gm II.

    • @hipfonts
      @hipfonts 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@woody64436 I honestly thought that people are stupid to buy G master. Why would you when it's twice as expensive as Sigma? I was quite ignorant. Then after seeing the picture quality, I finally understood what I'm paying $1000 extra for. You don't even need to shoot it S log 3 or S Cinetone. The colors are gorgeous on the standard color profile.

  • @networm64
    @networm64 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    You can't go wrong with that lens but I will go with the 24-105 G. F4 is enough for most situations and that extra reach gives just about the exact look you need many times. And oss is a nice bonus too!

    • @newforcemedia
      @newforcemedia ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it depends on your type of work. I mean if you really need a proper bokeh for an interview for example, then a wider aperture will do. Yet, I have a Sony 24-105 F4.0. But that's because I'm not in the "cinematic", but more ENG/Run & Gun style without even the need for a PP like S-Log. I don't even use any PP

    • @JonathanPalfrey
      @JonathanPalfrey  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The extra reach is nice I just find 2.8 is a bit nicer for interview set ups and allows you to getaway with shooting in darker situations.

      @@JonathanPalfrey Just curious, can't we bump up the iso two stops to compensate for it?

    • @JonathanPalfrey
      @JonathanPalfrey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sodiumsalt you can but of course it will be noisier. You might be pushing the iso a bit already in a dark situation so pushing it even further may go beyond what looks good.
      I used our 28-135 f4 the other day at a pretty dark event. The 12,800 iso of the FX3 helped a lot however a few shots we got on the 24-70 at 2.8 did look nicer.
      Ideal world you’d own both lenses for different situations however I’d get the 24-70 first as I think it can cover more.

    • @alex925-j4v
      @alex925-j4v 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a working architecture and interior photographer, I can say that it all depends on your client and your style. Real estate agencies usually want you to shoot very wide, but if you shoot for architecture magazines or interior design companies, you don’t need to shoot so wide. It makes more sense to show the interior with detailed pops and without exaggerated geometry. Interior design companies will trust your style. So, 24mm is okay for this type of shooting, but you need to consider who your final client is.

    This might be a strange question but I'm new to photography and am planning on buying the zve10 which can change lenses but is mainly for vlogging. Would it be weird to buy this very big lens for such a small camera? I really want to get into cinematic filming as I learn but can't afford the sony fx3 and have fallen in love with this lens. Practically would this lens work with the zve10 and then years down the line I can upgrade my camera and still use it?

    • @JonathanPalfrey
      @JonathanPalfrey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say you would want something wider and lighter for doing vlogging especially as the ZV-E10 is an APSC sized sensor. Perhaps look at the Sigma 16-28mm or just go for a APSC lens for now.

    I love videos btw and also sometimes very intrigued to take some photos. For videos i really like 120fps dreamy, bohemian style videos and for photos human subjects and scenery or architecture.
    In case of photography or videography i also want a bit bokeh you know. That background blur seems nice in many situations since i wanna work with human subects in various occasion . And As i am a beginner so i would only buy one lens initially.
    My question is which lens can fill the purposes that i am searching for. I am kinda confused.

      Yet to have a go with one although I now have a contact with Sigma so I will review one when I get the chance. I think for travel its probably a much better option as the 24-70 is heavy, that said when working I don't mind the extra weight and I'd rather have the slightly wider end and I presume slightly better image quality for only a bit more money.
