Great video for explaining things for beginners. What I have learned in SC2 is following: Terran focus is on: Simple Macro , intensive micro. Protoss focus is on: moderate macro, moderate micro. Zerg focus is on: intensive macro, simple micro This is of course my opinion. Basicly pick what ever you think is coolest and play it a bit. You'll get the hang of it.
Protoss: Superior technology, owners of the skies and if you lose a single battle you lose the whole war = Germany Zergs: quantity over quality, get a lot of units in short time and quick expansion = Soviet Union Terrans: Structure builders, a lot of vehicles or a lot of soldiers, gets resources quicker than all the others= United States
I am most definitely not a high level player. But you say that there are three paths for Protoss: Templar, Robo or Stargate. I often win just by going mass stalker, which works just like mass dragoon in brood war, only with less traffic jams thanks to Blink. I guess that's Robo because you'd eventually make Colossus if you wanted to keep Stalkers relevant but .... what am I saying. Stalkers are always relevant. They are cheap and fast to make, and they are effective for both ground and air. Maybe this isn't viable if you want to be a competitive level player on ladder. But if you're just playing StarCraft casually for fun with your friends, mass stalker is a relatively manageable approach for noobs at least I guess.
excellent video, and editing quality. for someone with less than 1k subscribers, you're really killing it dude. you could be 2017s biggest SC youtuber if you keep it up. Please keep it up and help bring this game back
When I picked my race I picked Zerg because Terran was just too similar to be interesting, Protoss was better but Zerg was just phenomenal and so I picked them as they were just the most interesting and fun to play.
Terran is honestly little more simple compared to the two but still is stressful I can barely beat a medium A.I been practicing that way so I can be better at online 1v1. I have only won like 5-10 out of my 100 games it is truly a difficult RTS game and complicated considering you have track and use your troops properly to give yourself advantage on other players I always seem to get countered a lot and wiped by other players. Edit: Zerg is the most difficult for me tbh and I have been trying to learn them for about a week it’s not the same as SC1 when I was a wee lad in middle school playing it when it first came out.
I believe this is because a lot of the Protoss units are quite bulky and powerful especially in the lower leagues. What a lot of people don't see is the Protoss require the most spellcaster micro while fighting with units such as Disruptors, high Templar, sentry forcefield, Pheonix etc. So as you get better at the game Protoss also gets a lot more difficult to be really good at :)
This still helps today, I haven't played SC2 since it released and now I want to replay the campaigns and try my luck in pvp. I think I go for Terran, I like the units and I play human in WC3 too ^^
If you are new you should take the time to play all the raes and practice with each one. After some time you will learn about each race and keep getting better with them. After choose which one you like best: easier for your playstyle, more challenging for you, more fun to play.
I think Terran might be the more balanced of the three in terms of unit cost defense and attack. And easiest to play with. If your good at micro of units, you are gonna do well with Terran. Protoss are expensive to make and a lot of Zerg units can only engage in close quarters and don’t have very good air superiority. Where as Terran can combat from a distance and have decent air forces.
Hi, as someone who hasnt played SC2 since around the time this video came out. Are there any video playlists that are really good for a new/returning player to learn? P.S. Protoss for life
I love the style of the video and the concept. It is well done, although it fails a little in execution. If you did script the majority of this video and plan on doing similarly in the future, try to make sure that your phrasing is right, e.g 8:07 making when and where they choose a fight "detrimental" (bad) for success. 8:42 Chrono-boost ... at an increased time etc. Not trying to be a dick, just a bit of constructive criticism Keep up the good work :)
Thanks heaps man! I do script this series of videos. Guess I gotta do a better job. Still working on it. Thanks for the feedback and being nice about it haha
The very reason why i will stay casual in base building RTS game is because i'm bad at micromanaging, whether it's about the base or the army. I love playing CnC, AoE, Starcraft, and other games. Most of time, i will just do campaign.
Can't decide between protoss and zerg I like them both. Which of both has more options? So more "playstyles" or whatever. I like to have a lot possibilities in general
I'm the same as you, I flux between those two races but don't touch terran. Generally speaking Zerg will have more options as you are able to tech switch really fast and go from something like ling bane to mass muta with a simple re rally so if thats what you like go Zerg. But just be ready to have a million APM for the race haha GLHF
No worries man, in terms of openings it really does depend on what matchup it is. Cause if it's a PvZ then you need to make your build order have some sort of timing involved otherwise the Zerg gets out of hand where in PvP you need early defences in order to put up a fight in the mirror match up. If that makes sense. If you don't mind me asking what rank are you?

I don't understand why though. Protoss are the only of the three races which aren't commonly seen in the finals of Tournaments lately. Super hard to beat Terran
If you are both equal beginner level and you play zerg and your friend protoss prepare to be crushed most of the time, unless you are fast enough. Building a protoss deathball is a lot more easy than a effective zerg army, because zerg requires more unit and counter knowledge
Beginner Zerg players therefore have to learn how to macro well early on and understand the game far better than their noob counterparts if the zerg player is actually striving to improve.
It's always going to be a zergling ambush, with an overlord dropping in some Hydralisks, and some guardians bringing In heavy air support. Capture choke points with Zerglings and Hydrolisks, and explore the rest of the map, with Ultarlisks baby sitting. It's too far inro the game by then.
This was really nice for me, someone who is trying to pick up Starcraft but struggling to grasp such a complicated game. Thanks so much man glad I could help. Yeah you would be right in saying this as Terran has incredible multi pronged harass potential. Because of this you can pull another player apart. I would say pick the race which is most fun for you. But if you're worried cause I said that Terran is the strongest don't be cause in order to play Terran this well you need to have amazing Macro. Which is not easy with the Terran race.
HEAR MEROAR it is balanced. Terran just seems to be in korean sc2, at the very high pro level. But others say its the players (imo aswell), were the terrans simply got the best.
