Yes . Very true . My brother committed suicide in a horrific way . I wish I would have been able to save him . He was the "least likely " to do that . I was the fuck up one with depression and he was the golden boy that had a bright future . It taught me a hard lesson . That no matter how you perceive a person to be , you never truly know what they are going through. The pain they cover up with hugs and smiles . He was a huge giver . Always tried to make everyone happy . So as you can imagine it came as a huge shock when it occurred. The small town we live in was hankering for front cover news . All the news stations lined up . All the people looking at him and the situation like he was a nut case . While the people that knew him were devastated. He had over 500 people attend his viewing (yet felt completely alone ). A small town kid from a poor family with a abusive father and no mother . (She left when we were 3&5 ) . He made such a impact in so many people's lives yet couldn't save his own . He made a decision in a moment of weakness not knowing there was help and tomorrow was a fresh new day . Anyone thinking of committing suicide TALK TO SOMEONE! This was the first time someones words got through to me. "There is strength in humility in asking for help." I could never ask for help, but I can now. Thank you Tommy for your honesty and sharing your story. You are my new hero :)

If that phone call he received at that exact moment isn't a perfect example of fate I don't know what would be; he has such a beautiful and caring soul and was obviously meant to be here doing exactly what he's doing. I have so much respect and admiration for him, and am so happy for him that he turned his life around into something so inspiring, through his music and his work as a sobriety advocate. Keep it up and stay strong, Tommy.

💕 It took a long long time for me to understand that trauma isn't something I did to myself, it's not something to be ashamed of and most importantly, trauma can be managed. Once I understood the difference between curing trauma and managing trauma, was a game changer. Changing that one perception gave me a light at the end of my personal tunnel💕

I love you! Glad you are real! I am a mental health suffer and believe everyone when they are truthful about needing help. Truth helps set us free. Hope we grow up and I can enjoy that beautiful voice till I am old and giggling at grandchildren making fun of my choice in music.

This man deserves a proper interview for topics like this. Hes a HUGE flagship person for self harm awareness and doesnt deserve to have had to blet out such a compassionate story of his life BACK STAGE of some loud ass rehearsal.
We agree, Nikko. Please cut us some slack. Both we and Tommy would have preferred something better. Unfortunately, this was the best we could do at the time. This interview was conducted when Tommy was touring with his previous band, Westfield Massacre - before Bad Wolves even existed.

That is a very important message. I know how hard it is, I stuggle a lot with going through live without hiding my feelings in alcohol or other things. I am getting help, but I am having a very bad week. Somethimes its hard to see beyond the strugle to a better day(and live). I was at the concert monday at 013. And the day after I felt lost and angry. And today I came across this video! Thank you I know I will make it one day, but somethimes its nice to have an example.
I think it is great that you perform without alcohol or drugs. Set the example for others and be an inspiration for other. We need more people to stand up!
Btw, the concert was great, it was the day after that I realized that I wan't to be in that state of mind(positive and energetic) all the time. And when I got home, I knew I had such a long way to go.

Tommy definitely rocks, he definitely is one of the greatest people around I can think of. This story had me tear up a bit. Hope to see a lot more of him, after him falling in for Ivan and seeing him at home on the stage, I truly hope that he continues on this right path.
Just met tommy in Seattle at a restaurant I was the only one who approached him and he was so cool. Offered to take pic with me and talked to me like a friend for ten fifteen min about the sights to see in Seattle and if I was coming to his show that night. Mad respect for the person he is. Things that happen to me as a kid I fight it every day I'm not going to let that shit win , keep goin life is some much better than death
I dont comment very often on youtube. it's a cesspool of negativity for the most part. That said, this hits home. I have struggled with depression since my late teens. never turned to drugs but it effected my family heavily, including losing my baby sister to drug addiction.
I just wanted to share my advice that has helped me for years...open up. do not be afraid to open up to people about your problems. believe it or not, their are more people willing to listen and talk with you than you realize. getting that weight off your chest is such a relief. continue to do that and eventually you will feel free. also, DO NOT USE DRUGS AS AN ESCAPE !!! it's the absolute worse thing you can do. my prayers to those out there that continue to battle substance abuse and depression. im rooting for you.

I'm going to start getting into Vext's work throughout the years. He's just simply a very honest, genuine, and a wonderful person. If not an inspiration, then a role-model! Keep up the good hope, my man!

Matthew Roberts definitely but Ivan seems to be confidential in a way. He doesn't do alot of interviews and tries to stay away from media. He's supposedly writing a book and that'd be better yet. Jeremeys book was incredible and Chris kael is writing one too
I've been threw depressing. I was raped half my life and ended up trying to take my own life 4 times in one day. I was put into a psychiatric hospital for 2 weeks after that I ended up cutting myself for almost 7 yrs. When I got pregnant with my daughter I decided then I was not only quitting for myself I was doing it for her. It's been 9 years since. I'm quite proud of myself!

5 years ago I was alone and needed help. For the hundredth time, I tried to commit suicide. I woke up a month later in the hospital. I was healing from a gun shot wound to the head. It was a rare percentage that I would heal as well as I did, 9% chance of survival and I was still alive. I know it wasn't my time to die, God had a purpose for me to be in this world today. We don't know why we are here, even struggling with chronic depression my entire life. There is a reason, I keep telling myself that. Even through the worst days....like today. 😢

This I understand I understand pain more than happiness sadly I've lived and struggled with P.T.S.D. since I was 2 I've gone through trauma of many kinds all through my life really.I fought to live I was born dead and a nurse saved me because my mom's Dr. was too drunk to do so I figure that's one reason I never liked drinkers that and the pain I've seen family and friends go through from it and the abuse that's been forced on me from others who drank and seeing abuse others have gone through from both drugs and alcohol.There are so many reasons to hate those things I am still fighting to stay alive through my pain I do believe in therapy whether it be self-therapy through natural rituals or meditation or seeking help from Drs.I never felt the need to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol I'm very lucky for that.Even after being abused as a child by my therapist I don't believe they are all bad I know there are good ones out there who really do care and who really want to help.So I 100,000,000%Suport this foundation and all the helplines mentioned thank you Tommy Vext for sharing your pain and your story.I too am a twin his ghost lives within me because he died before his life even started.I hope all the best for you and your twin I hope he gets better as much as he can.

thank you for sharing brother I my self have suffered with pornography addiction things I have seen from that even if I was not searching something specific an something pops up it messed me up. to the point of intrusive thoughts an the thought of suicide. An I have been through an still have anxiety an delt with depression. But it is about knowing that God wants better for you an there is freedom an forgiveness in his son Jesus who lives an paid the price for us. An he helps me know that those downfalls do not define who he made me to be. Keep going strong brother an the heavenly father will reveal the beauty for the ashes he loves you an has a purpose for you an that goes for everyone trust in him find freedom

Suicide only kills your past, not your future. It literally takes something as small as a single phone call that can change everything. Look at this story. 1 phone call. Dont ever kill your future because of your past.
