  • Thailand has elected its new Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, to end the political stalemate following the couuntry's May 14 elections. The 60-year-old property tycoon was nominated for the top job by a coalition led by the Pheu Thai, the party with ties to Thailand's former PM Thaksin Shinawatra.

Forget general elections, Pita , Move Forward party and democracy.
Military dictatorship remains in power in Thailand.

The PPT is the "realistic" democracy - I admire how they find the solution to conquer unfair election rules. PPT brings hope for the Thai people to recover from a lost decade under the Prayuth regime. MMP is not well prepared to be a government since they failed teamworking though they are good at monitoring. It is never been before that we have both strong government and opposition. Cheers

How do ppl from Thailand feel about this appointment? The move forward party had the most votes but dont get the prime minister position and also not included in government.

As a Thai and PTP Voter, I'm very satisfied. Although I don't like many coalition parties, but I understand the roadblock that PTP had to overcome. Where the military-appointed senators took part in a vote.

@@morgetha In my opinion. Move Forward made a big mistake by toying with the monarchy. Its one of those institutions which are just untouchable.
