    never expected South Africa's intercity road infrastructure is so advanced, much like Australia.

    Once drove from Pretoria to Cape Town in one day!!!!!. late 80's in big old BMW e32 7 series. Some low level flying involved especially through the Karoo but my Dad had it down to a fine art! different time back then and not nearly as much traffic. Another time we stopped off in Beaufort west and got to see South Africa at its worst. Kitchen staff at the tiny hotel we were staying at dropped a tray of plates and glasses and it didn't end well for them. I was young and I heard words, in Afrikaans which i speak, that i'd never heard before or since. There was also a beating I'm sure. It certainly taught me how people should not be treated.

    Thank you so much for sharing. This is on my bucket list to do. And one from Jo'burg to Durban and then down the coast to Cape Town.

    Done that trip a few times in my life. Also Cape Town (Sonstraal Heights just around corner from your Pinehurst destination in this video!) to Bulembu in Swaziland. Up the N1 past Bloemfontein, turn off to Senekal, across to Bethlehem then Standerton, Ermelo, Carolina, Barberton, Bulembu. Total distance just over 1900km usually did it in around 23 hours.

    Drove many times from JHB to Cape Town but this one time drove in the afternoon from Bloem (The road at 15:40 ) The sun is literally in your face. If you don't have sun classes you are in trouble.
    I mostly drive at nigh or early hours of the morning to Cape Town its peaceful and less traffic for me.

      @zukhanyetwalo3656 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My guess would be that the distance between the 2 cities is just too long and the road is not heavily congested throughout most of the year.
      For context, the distance between Johannesburg and Cape Town is about 1500 km and a lot of people take the 2 hour flight between the 2 cities as opposed to drive.
