Chapman's Peak Drive (South) - Cape Town, South Africa

- A late-afternoon drive from Camps Bay to Noordhoek (North to South) along Chapman's Peak Drive - one of the most scenic drives in the world. If you visit the Western Cape area, this drive is a must! Plan on at least 90 minutes so that you have time to make use of the many turn-offs to take in the beautiful scenery. The toll portion starts just south of Hout Bay and cost (as of June 2013) R33.00 - about $3.50 - each way.
I only wish I could have waited an hour later, but it was autumn and a storm was approaching! Enjoy in HD when possible.
Now you can see why Cape Town was voted the most beautiful city in the world.
Drove this road from Cape Town(Kloof street ) to Hout Bay for21 years!! Was teaching in the Jan van Riebeeck High School .I t was like a tonic: a beautiful trip there and back... Still living in Hout Bay.🎼
Just remember that the road over the peak is somewhat frequently closed; always check the road info before going.

BB42 Cape Town is very safe! If you follow the same basic rules for personal safety that you would in any other city, you’ll be fine. I’ve vacationed there 3 times and never felt concern.

I lived in Noordhoek for many years and also Hout Bay; , driving into George's Mall in the Cape was a schlep, but watching this takes me back, to happier days; Now living in the UK,
Many young folk have moved to SA, post-Brexit, and are driving new enthusiasm there.

I lived in Cape Town for almost one year. This route is a must to do in the Mother City. I went by car a couple times, but should have donne also riding my bike.😕

Assuming if I was a tourist, and refused to pay the R33 toll, what is the worst case scenario ?? Mind you I drove from Durban to Cape Town in 1979 on my new Honda XB750KZ and spent four glorious weeks there. Was sorry to leave, but had to go back to work. Did this drive in both directions. Would have moved to CT if it were not for family not wanting to leave Durban
I suppose you just wouldn't be allowed to pass through the toll barrier? My personal opinion is that the views are definitely worth the toll - video simply can't do it justice.
After seeing the cost , its well worth it seeing even if it was some 30 + years ago - shot myself in the foot with my comment before waiting to see the end. Hopefully we will be able to drive back to C T for another holiday.

+Andre de Villiers I used a GoPro Hero 3 (at the time it was the very latest) and shot the video in 1080p at 60 frames-per-second. I had the GoPro mounted on my windscreen using the GoPro suction mount.

Yu Wei I used a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. Since it was so long ago, I imagine the newer GoPros are even better.

Alan Gaum Aside from TH-cam removing my original soundtrack, this is my only regret. If I had a second GoPro, I would definitely have mounted it on the roof and pointed it out toward the water. It really is stunning, especially when you first catch sight of the beach at Noordhoek!

I think it is a guard booth for the neighborhood there. Many neighborhoods in the Cape Town area have armed security response.
The video was nice,BUT for people who do not know the place,are driving in the dark,because there is no commend or anything to say where you are driving and what is nice about each area you drive in. This make it a very very poor video.
