    Very lucky to own both watches, Datejust 41 if a far superior watch for every day. It wears very comfortable, no crown guards, the Sub wears like a 43. The datejust you just put on and forget- I have the Roman Numeral, Smooth Bezel Azzuro on Jubilee, the bracelet is fantastic and it hides any scratch, also being all steel is a perfect daily watch. The Sub feels heavy, big and crown digs into your wrist, case shape Lug to Lug is also sharp and not as smooth as the Datejust. I would personally recommend datejust first on Jubilee smooth to anyone looking to get started. Its way dressier and looks amazing casual.

    If given the opportunity to choose, I’d purchase the Submariner 126610LN; however, in the real world, it’s more likely you will be allocated to Date-just when you are starting out in this hobby.

    I think the sub, the Datejust , and the explorer work for every occasion, wearing a sub with a suit or a tux to a dinner party, subs are very hard to acquire and it would still be cooler than John’s aqua Terra or Kyle’s Cartier santos , you will still look baller and James Bond wore a sub with a suit.

    • @legarsaise
      @legarsaise ปีที่แล้ว

      I have zero regrets honestly. It’s a nice watch, don’t get me wrong, but it does not fit my lifestyle. For reference, I had a DJ41 on jubilee with a silver dial. It was how I bought into the brand and started my relationship with my local AD. I had a good run with it, but the sub is much more versatile and feels more sturdy. I also use the bezel quite a lot. Would go no date personally as you can always get the a cyclops on other models. The no date dial is clear, and we’ll balanced.
      I’ve added more sports watch to the collection (Pepsi, Explorer II) since this post, but am not planning to get another DJ back. Would go for skydweller or day date for the more classy look.

    • @Thomas-se3tb
      @Thomas-se3tb ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@legarsaise thank you for your input! Greatly appreciated! It’s a tough decision letting it go as it’s my first Rolex, but I don’t find it that comfortable (the jubilee is sticky when my wrist warms up). I’m hoping I won’t have the same issue on the Sub. But I’m thinking the 2mm adjustments on the glidelock should help a lot.
      It’s a shame they don’t make one on a rubber strap. But tbh if I’m spending $10k on a watch I think I’d want a better material than rubber lol
      Anyway, I originally got the DJ 41 to be my daily, but in 2 years I’ve worn it maybe a couple dozen times. Always feel like I have to roll my sleeves down with it on

    • @legarsaise
      @legarsaise ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thomas-se3tb yeah, I feel you. You don’t have to sell the datejust if you feel sentimental regarding it being you « first watch ». Similar to you, the fit was never perfect for me. It’s a great watch, but not for me. I feel like that asterisk made me not care too much about selling « the first one ». I also had it lying around more than I wished which meant I did not bond too much with it.
      I’m in love with the fit of the oyster, feels more seemless on my wrist. For reference, I have a rather large wrist (don’t know the measurements, but had to add a link on all my Rolex sports).
      When buying the sub I was also thinking about the rubber band. But, too be honest, I don’t think I will get tired of the oyster bracelet!

  • @bram6536

    Keep up the good work. Great arguments. I’ve always wanted a surmariner and had the ability to buy a hulk in 2011 for 6,5k at the dealer, which I declined. Moving in my late thirties I decided I want a DJ mint green dial fluted bezel and oyster bracelet since I believe I could wear it in 30 years as well and on a lot (more) of occasions. But I do like the precious metal argument. Makes me happy to have it. Would also love the hulk or possibly a new hulk if it ever comes out with updated caliber.

    Do you want the same watch as everyone else (black sub) or to have something more unique?
    Given the nearly infinite configurations, chances are if you have multiple friends with a DJ, they're all going to be different. Whereas all of your subs are going to look identical. DJ is the correct answer here.

    My preference is the Sub Date if you could only pick one of the two. Most versatile and can take a bit more abuse, being it's a tool watch by design. Upside is that you can't go wrong with either as your first Rolex. I am not a fan of the OP, AirKing or Milgauss, as I don't think they command the presence of the Rolex brand. Frankly I'd rather have a Tudor Black Bay over those three watches.

Not to mention, to get a Submariner you’d have to wait years and have a spend history with the A.D. before you get that piece at retail. Entry level and the Submariner can’t even be put in the same sentence. This guy on the left said you’d be more confident wearing the Datejust?
