Thanks! I’m just wondering, could you post a follow up video after you’ve used it for a while? I’d love to see some of your photos with this lens and hear your overall opinion. I own the Voigtlander 27mm f2, and I pair it with my Fuji XT5. I’m still getting used to the manual focus aspect, but I think I like it. I just need to get faster and more accurate with manual focusing especially when shooting wide open on subjects that are close.
Everyone must remember that this is a "niche" lens. In short, the lens is optimal for my use. Zone focusing from 1m-infinity - f16. For everything else, I would not get this lens. Especially not something for beginners. If sharpness is important this lens is not for you. Color scopar is known for a very special character that I personally appreciate. Vignetting from 2.8, but practically disappears at f8. I dig it Check out the last video I posted for pictures and additional opinions Thx
Do you have exposure problems in continuous burst mode CH or CL? For me, the second frame always darker than the rest in the same burst. Manual exposure is fine and so is the single shot mode. Any combination of auto exposure results in the second frame being darker no matter what. I wonder if this is common or I got a dud…
@@RohamBroccoli Right, I don’t have issues in manual, but it’s still bugging me and if I bought a faulty lens I would rather exchange before it’s too late. Just trying to figure out if this a common issue or just my copy. Do you still have the lens to try CH/CL in aperture priority?
Yeah, these prices for Voigtländers and Viltrox lenses are stupid high. I bought my 35mm Nokton from Japan and had to pay about 1000 kr extra for customs and import tax :( only ScandinavianFoto is selling two Voigtländer lenses and these prices are just ridiculous. Saw someone on Finn selling their 27mm f/2 for above 6000 Kr. Yikes. Hope you enjoy this lens :)
Unfortunately everything has become expensive these days😅 But to get such an experience I had to go this route. Not a fan of by wire focusing with modern lenses since I 99% use manual focus. This lens is almost exactly what I had envisioned. Manual focus work is like a dream. The only thing is as I said also in the video that the 18mm framlines do not appear in the X-pro2. Thank you for your attention and have a nice Saturday☀️😁
@@RohamBroccoli Yeah, that is really annoying with the OVF. If I am not mistaken and my memory doesnt fail me, the x pro3 OVF at least showed 18mm frame lines, but I could remember wrong 😅 at least the 35mm Nokton was super fun to use but my lens has an issue that the aperture value randomly changes when I have it on max aperture. I need to slightly move the aperture ring like a Millimeter to the side, then lt stays locked. Otherwise the aperture goes from 1.2 to 1.4 and moves more and more and the camera compensates for that with higher iso & longer exposure. Must be a failure with the exif data but it isnt that bad to get it repaired. Kills the resell value though :( I want to try their new 35mm f/0.9! But that is too expensive right now
@@venom2k2 It didn't sound practical. X-pro3 has no framline for 18mm😅 Hope they bring it back in X-pro4 since many street photographers I know shoot with 18mm.
Agreed. One can theoretically zone focus with any lens. But the biggest advantage of manual lenses like this Voigtlander is that scale focusing whereby the photographer estimates (or measures) the distance to the subject, and sets the camera's focusing ring or lever to the correct distance changing focus is significantly faster without having to look at the screen or in the viewfinder.
I’m interested to hear how you like it too - like @jaygreer7430 I was (planning to) get the Voigtlander 27mm f2 but wonder whether you enjoy the images and user experience given that it’s manual only.

@@kiv9431 unfortunately I never use it in CH or CL. Always shooting in manual single shot mode and never had any issues with the exposure😊

So if you are doing zone focussing you can also use the small F2 18 mm fuji lens set to manual and have the autofocus and f2 when you need it.
