The violinist reminds me of Vincent Gallo, especially with the bit when he's on the ground. This band reminds me of Do Make Say Think and Benjamin Smoke (SMOKE).
Makes perfect sense; Miles Davis also played like that. I just saw these guys last night and it was the greatest fucking spiritual show I've ever seen!!!!!
i saw these guys here in detroit, few years back, the violinist dont kick me in the ass for not knowing his name, had his back to the audience and someone was like turn around i wanna f*ckin see you i paid to see you, and in turn he said, why dont you get up here and do this? this show was sold out. first time i ever saw a 6 ft 6 man cry. beautiful beautiful beautiful. i love the dirty three. and hope they are still makin music. i love u dirty three you mean ol bastard violinist you. + band
@Salix81 10+min epics with Warren's back to the audience, interspersed with 10 min of quality banter where Warren is the entire focus & which is just as entertaining as the music....It all averages out.
Yeah that's why he throws himself around so much, so as not to be noticed. (; I saw them play in 93 when I knew them as mates of some mates. They have done alright since then.
His name is Warren Ellis. They still make music. He once said that he stands with his back to the audience because he wants people to focus on the music not the fiddler.
live from eslite bookstore in Taiwan :D
"Horse Stories" is very great!
Get up Warren!

Love it... thanks very much.. this is one of my favorite bands..
any news of a new album?
thanks so much for this.
it's quite emotional seeing Ellis playing on the floor.
Look at some of those folks in the audience. They don't know what's hit 'em.
Just a quiet little performance in a record store.
al guitarra le cuesta, pero jefes.
I feel like I'm watching magic

a beardless and less demonic looking Warren (back then);every dirty three show is unique and beautiful!
