    Looking to continue their latest trend of injecting a lot more fun into their products, Toyota gives the latest Corolla its most comprehensive redesign in years. Returning a dedicated hatchback model to the lineup, installing an all-new 2.0L dynamic force 4-cylinder engine with 168 HP, and making a slick shifting 6-speed manual with active rev match function available on high trim models. The 2019 Corolla hatchback has all the ingredients for a much hotter compact car then we ever thought was possible from a Corolla. Buyers shopping for a small, efficient, fun, stylish, and affordable compact car can finally add this new Corolla hatchback to the top of your list.

      I don't know how to explain it but I just purchased my 2018 Toyota Camry SE last week and I know what you mean by saying how they drive. The interior is what you see 9/10 on a daily basis. The Camry I have is 203HP and 184TQ. I guess its just preference. Out of the 6 cars I test drove and researched my goal is gas mileage and resale-ability. I can say with my chest that more than half of car owners purchase older cars for eco cars. my Camry that gets a combined 34MPG is going to sell WAY easier than under 30MPG combined type cars. Like I said I guess its just preference.

      If you can push a car to it's limits without breaking the speed limit, that means it is the worst car ever made. The highest speed limit i have ever seen is 70mph. If your car is screaming redline, in it's final gear, and hasn't reached 70mph, you need to get rid of that car immediately.
      If you want a slow car that is fun, look into a Miata, FRS/BRZ/86, MR2. This is a Corolla. Same generic car it's been since 1989, when they stopped making the fun ones. • @SI0AX
      @SI0AX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The 9th gen civic SI with the 2.4l has an integrated exhaust manifold which makes swapping out the header impossible(you have to swap out the block head) + the integraded exhaust manifold makes the turbo spool faster so everyone is going turbo with that car and easily making near 500whp reliably.

    • @gurjindersingh199
      @gurjindersingh199 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      SI0AX high hp is only good in a straight line tho :) power is nothing without control in the corners. This engine would be pretty responsive with bolt ons and itbs probably make 215whp peak. And just completely gut the car to reduce weight

    • @gurjindersingh199
      @gurjindersingh199 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Weight is the enemy of handling. The Corolla handles well for what it is. I'm sure if I put some potenza re11 on it, poly bushings all around and some coilovers I'm sure it will handle amazing. Also the answer to your question is the gt86 it handles absolutely amazing but thats not my point

      @gurjindersingh199 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @gurjindersingh199
      @gurjindersingh199 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sergio Aguirre the new civic type r doesn't perform on really tight tracks compared to the old civics look at Keichi on the gunsai togue circuit. It's a 300whp car mainly because it's making up for the corners in the straights. To be honest I want to build my car NA and I just want to handle really really well. I will stitch weld my chassis etc but still I'm not sure what suspension setup I'll be going with yet too many choices

    Imagine an AWD version with the turbo power plant from the Lexus 200t 8AR-FTS powerplant. It would be phenomenal. Toyota should really consider building this. I mean the Corolla Hatch platform is already designed to have an AWD option so the just have to stick the turbo 8AR motor under the hood which shouldn’t be hard considering the motor is made for compact FWD/AWD applications like the NX200t. Hell I’d buy this even if it costed as much as the Camry V6.

I am blown away by the little Corolla. It’s almost as fun to drive as the Miata, but almost as comfortable as the Lexuses I’ve owned. It has Apple CarPlay on 8” screen, made in Japan, near hybrid MPG, standard Toyota radar cruise control and parking sensors, and big digital dash, heated seats, garage door opener, smart key push start, etc and many more. And it’s one of the cheapest cars that I’ve owned. It’s one of the best deals of the decade for cars!

    Here's my take. The Golf has auto up and down windows on all 4; they've been doing it for almost 20 years. I believe the tires are 225/40/18 on the XSE trim, not 235. Also, regarding road noise, from the video, I saw it is on Yokohama Avid GT tires, which after searching, I couldn't find even on their own site. I'm curious to see what tires they'll go with because at 40 seconds, you'll see the tire wear rating. 280 treadwear! That sure sounds like a summer tire to me which would definitely increase road noise (and accidents in the snow belt since the majority of consumers don't switch out their tires in the US - I'm one that does). It is weird to me that Toyota wouldn't package the blind spot monitoring system with the 6MT since most of the required hardware is already there. That's not a huge blow to me personally, especially in a car this size (it's only 4" longer than my 2006 Mk5 GTI), but it could be for others. The fact that it doesn't have the swivel LED headlights even as an option on the 6MT IS a drag though. If I remember correctly, the cross traffic monitoring is not available on any trim? That's a bummer too given how parking lots are these days. I love that it has Adaptive Cruise Control even on the 'base' SE and with the 6MT. The fake exhaust tips are tacky on an otherwise pretty clean design. I prefer the all black SE front grill too. It does remind me a lot of the second gen Mazda3, especially from the rear 3/4 view. Toyota has a hit. I'm glad they're keeping N/A engines for a bit longer and have actually developed a proper 6MT for this car. I can't wait to test drive one.
    One more comment. I'm 99% sure that was *the* original hot hatch at 21 minutes. A Mk1 VW Rabbit GTI.

      Billy Hughes I don't think Toyota was selling this as a hot hatch... not sure why that's coming up.

    Had a Rolla.
    It was a base model with AC and a manual transmission in sedan platform.
    Loved it in all but three ways.
    No hatch, no balls above 60 mph and high body roll.
    If this one can beat or at least match my 08 hatchback impreza outback sport, and use all wheel drive, I'll come back to Toyota and buy it with no regrets nor hesitation.
    That said, I had mixed feelings about the Corolla.
    I bought it because I had to have a reliable car that was cheap to fix.
    As much as I hated the lack of room and power, the more I tossed it around, the more I loved it. But now that I have AWD I'm not sure that I can come back.
    I hope that Toyota sees this and many other comments about the competition because I really do love Toyota vehicles....

    We need this with boost for at least 260 hp and rwd or awd. Some aero and you got yourself a real sports car

      I wish Toyota would try to make another variable lift engine that could pass smog nowadays. 2L ving ving engine would be dope! I'd love to see a variable lift in The big Lexus 5L V8as well.

    I think the horsepower and torque numbers are great. The question is, how much does the car weigh? If this thing weighed about 2500 - 2600 pounds it'd be a quick little hatch. The early 90's Sentra SE-R with 140 hp are still quick little cars even today's standards. But that's because they weighed around 2400 lbs.
