Replacing the main drive belt on this mower is a pain in the a**...absolutely hated doing it. For anyone who has to, I highly suggest taking a photo of how the belt and all affected parts are prior to starting. Otherwise I've been pretty happy with mine. Bought it for $200 from an older couple who kept it at their cabin up north. It was running really rough but just did all the same typical engine maintenance you listed (spark plug, cleaned the carb and put new gaskets on, new fuel and fuel filter) and it's been running like a champ for the last four years I've had it.

In the future, there is a drain plug below the oil filter so you do not make a mess.
