    Thanks Don for telling it like it is. Just can't see whose going to buy this, with all the other great $1000 choices out there. A $10 movement, a $10 strap and frankly plain boring looking.

    Great review of this Fine Timepiece! Quartz watches are VERY accurate, FWIW. There are Top-Tier reputable Watch brands that produce quartz movement-based watches. Realistically, whether it be Quartz or Automatic (Swiss, Japanese, etc.) Movement, it would boil down to personal preference. I prefer Automatic, but I know plenty of fellow Watch Enthusiasts who prefer Quartz. From this detailed video review, I find the watch to be aesthetically pleasing. I do however wish the watch was initially shown with it's original strap. The strap mounted in the video looks so damn good, and now I feel I'd be disappointed if I saw this watch on stock straps!😋
    For the money-are there better or more affordable time pieces? You bet!
    At the same time, the list price for this watch isn't that expensive when you factor the purpose of this watch's build. Based off of video observation: The bead blasted treated casing surfaces looks uniform and even, the numbers appear to be properly aligned with the dial and bezel "tic" marks, the NATO or nylon all-weather strap serves it's purpose. The company isn't a major brand name, so in-house movements, raw material processing machinery would no-doubt be limited. Most if not all Watch Enthusiasts already know this, but it only takes a percentage of assembly or parts origin for a watch to be considered "Swiss" or "Made in USA." I appreciate the on-wrist shots, I'd love to see this watch in-person to try it, examine it closer, feel the weight, etc. For the price point, what I've seen on this review, and my "very limited" knowledge on watches, I would be willing to purchase it-based on the design intent and my personal use.
    It's easy to ROAST this watch because there are CHEAPER options available. Yet, if one is SOLELY basing a future watch purchase on price alone, Wal-Mart, Target, and Dick's Sporting Goods offer aesthetically-equivalent and CHEAPER watches. The Seiko Tuna, Rolex Submariner, Tudor Black Bay, Sinn 104, and countless others share the major commonality which binds them together-ALL of them were influenced by the benchmark-The Rolex Submariner. The Submariner was influenced by the Blancpain 50 Fathoms (Don't take my word, research it.). To this day, I KNOW people that swear, "I'd NEVER pay $12,345.67 for a Dive Watch!" I spent a "little" bit of time in the military. If the Designer made this watch for his line of work, $1XXX.XX is a SMALL fee for a piece of gear, that if properly used, would save your LIFE. My life is worth more than the listed price, and if it performs as advertised, I'd be down. Hell, for the price of my Tudor Black Bay 79220B, I could've bought 2 of these, and still had plenty of scratch left for a steak dinner at Ruth's Chris! 😂

    I agree! I personally like the Manus design and I'm thinking about purchasing one. I feel people get to wrapped up in who makes the watch, what movement is in the watch when in all actuality, like you said either you like it or you don't and if you, is it worth what it to you to pay what they are asking.

      I can't buy a watch that contains the letters "ANUS" on the face of it (or anywhere else for that matter). Max's history just can't overcome this unfortunate last name.

    Thank You for the review as always .
    The story behind the watch is awesome but it’s way overpriced .
    If it was automatic and built in US totally including most parts then I can justify the price tag .

    I even balked when Shinola came out with their watches at $650 and up with the Ronda movement relabeled ARGONITE due to the movement being assembled in the US. As one Shinola watch reviewer put it, I wouldn't even part $300 of my money, maybe $175. "There's a sucker born every minute"

    • @watchreport
      @watchreport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I am not sure, as this review was many years ago. I may say it in the video, not sure. It could be a strap from Helm watches, but again, I honestly have no idea off hand at this point.

    • @watchreport
      @watchreport  ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay had to look through the comments to see what strap it was. It’s a Gruppo Gamma green canvas and a roller style buckle from Aegir. Neither can be had anymore as Gruppo no longer is making canvas straps and Aegir was an awesome dive watch brand that started making these buckles towards the end of the company and he was custom making them. Not even sure how many he sold, but sourcing one would probably be near impossible. He went out of business a few years ago, and it’s a shame as his watches were amazing.

    As a former retired SEAL, I supported Resco and at one time, I had their PVD Khaki RTAC, Gen 2 Patriot, and the Manus and loved them all - so did one of the packers during our move from San Diego a few years ago as the box they were in didn't show up on the other end. Of the 3, that black PVD Khaki RTAC was my fav - don't know why that was so but it looked simple, calming, tactically rugged, was low profile and rode the wrist very well, had the GMT function, never had to worry about it slowing down/winding it, and it looked darn good with thier brown leather NATO band. In fact, I used to get compliments on it wherever I went. Fast-forward to now, I just sold my Seiko 50th Anniversary Marinemaster Professional 1000m Hi-Beat as although it has to be the baddest tool dive watch on the planet imho, it got to be too darn bulky to wear. So I just sent Nicole an email at Resco explaining my prior losses and opting for another PVD Khaki RTAC. Is it worth $1,100 - I'd say heck yeah for the multiple reasons I mentioned.

      Kelly Alexander I read what you are referring to. It is stated that Chris from Lum-tec helped with design and manufacture. That was well over 6-7 years ago now and the first model. And again, Lum-Tec does not manufacture the cases themselves, a factory does. And as far as I know, at this point in time, Resco assembles in California.
      Bottom line, many get too excited about buzz words and have no idea why. In the end, for whatever reason and how many different factors, the watch is worth it or it is not,

      Lol. I had to watch this video back, as it’s over 5 years old and compared to our new videos it’s night and day, I have to say I am not sure what is long winded. I talk about the watch and the company. It’s a 13 min vid. Go watch some of the other guys who talk for 30 minutes and see if you think this is long winded then. Sorry you didn’t enjoy the video. I’ll be honest I hate these old vids where I was recording with an iPhone and not with a real camera and mic etc, but the info is still here.

    Lume-Tec is the manufacturer of Recos cases.

    • @watchreport
      @watchreport  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kelly Alexander I’m not aware of that, but lum-tec wouldn’t be the manufacturer. Lum-tec does not own a factory and while I know they are responsible for other brands being produced, it would be an overseas factory that manufactures them and possibly lum-tec is assembling them in Ohio, in their workshop as they do others, but I believe Resco claims to assemble them in California. So if anything, they ate just using same factory as Lum-Tec.

    • @redfernsoljah
      @redfernsoljah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No Resco doesn’t manufacture the cases. They are manufactured for them as I was told by Resco in a plant in Switzerland. The watches are assembled at Resco in California. I have their Patriot Version of the Watch, has been a very good watch and I abuse them. I did get the quartz version over automatic due to the type of work I did as they are sturdier and less prone to failure during an Blast wave.
