I got a 2018 Iron 883 and it's amazing! I did some modifications, exhaust pipes, a nice air filter, a little taller handle Bar, Extended foot pedals, back support, Mustang sit, mini windshield... I've been riding to west, east and Central Florida coast to coast. Looks, sounds, and runs great. If I want another one, I prefer to buy it, but I'll keep my '2018 Iron 883'
It’s all in what you like, I’m a retired Harley-Davidsons mechanic and have 13 bikes of all brands and the one I ride the most is the sportster, it’s easy and fun to ride.
The hd 883 is the most reliable Harley-Davidson and you can change it up to do anything you need or want, there was a guy in California that was making a touring kit for sportsters, they don’t leak either, leave the motor alone it’s when these guys want to start putting big bore kits and cams is when they start leaking and running hot if you know anything about the older cars the sportster is like the Chevy V-8 just plain and simple
Oh yeah I forgot if you really want the sportster to handle better, put some money into the suspension and wider handle bars, I used to dirt track a sportster when they had a 883 class, look it up I’m telling you they are good bikes, I never understood why these tough guys would call it a girls bike or there too small , I think they are compensating for something else ha ha
@@mr.smirnoff4317 My 2005 XL883 has never leaked, never burned any oil and has never let me down. Check out the forums. These bikes can last for several 100K miles with regular maintenance. The favorite adjectives for this EVO motor are "bulletproof" and "anvil". Same with the 1200 which is the same engine with a bigger bore and the transmission has taller gears. They are easy to work on. Parts and accessories are everywhere. You can find a shadetree mechanic for these things anywhere. What's not to like?
Most of us grew up riding 650’s & 750’s and never had any problems making power. The 883 May not get the recognition among a lot HD riders, but they are a great ride
Looks like you get the same kind of summer weather as I get. I get rained on all the time too. Your area looks like it's near where I live. I'm guessing you're somewhere in southern Alabama or Florida? Mississippi here.
Hate to say it, but the FZ6R is a detuned version of the FZ6, which was already a detuned version of the YZF-R6. 2003 Yamaha R6 (Which the FZ6 engine was derived from) = 94.8 HP Yamaha FZ6 = 85.6 HP Yamaha FZ6R = 64.4 HP Great vid though.
@@gwilliamwallace I'm 56 and after 30 years I decided to ride again. I had a chance to buy a mint very low mileage 2003 883 hugger. It's perfect. my body feels the pain of working hard so this will be my last bike.Back in the day we use to call the 883 ,B to B bikes. Bar to Bar 😂So ya your comment was funny. I understood. Thanks for reaching out! Be safe and have a great holiday, if possible.
@@jvdthunder1282 Thanks brother I was in a similar situation. I found myself six years ago at age 57 in the hospital being read the last rites. And I wondered how it could be that I had money in the bank but no motorcycle to ride for close to 30. One of the memories keeping me alive was my left hand on the knee of a pretty teenage girl as I tooled down the coastal highway catching glimpses of her smiling face in the mirror. I vowed got out of the hospital things would change. So I did make it out after 3 months and though the teenage girls are off limits motorcycles sure aren't. Ten months out when the walker was put away and I could twist a throttle I bought my first bike in 30 years and in the next four years I ended up buying 4 more. So I boomeranged back to the sport with a vengeance. I hope your return brings as much joy to you as it has to me. Peace out.
I've seen them in many "Teaching how to ride" videos. So the viewer can see when he pulls the clutch because it's not always clear behind the glove. They do teh same thing arounf the throttle so you can see when they give fuel... That way a viewer can work out the steps.
i must not know what power is cause on my 2012 superlow 883 (1500 actual miles) I think power is good I was crusin interstate 70mph and pull the throttle and get to 85 passin power no problem im 245lbs idk I just always hear the same ol story lol its got no power it slow no power ect. just my 2cents im not against what u say jmo
My 883 is 6 years old, I bought it with 1950 miles on it, and I have dogged it. Just had to replace the throttle cable last week, no problems other than that
Depends on where you will be riding. The 1200 is geared taller for highway riding. The 883 is geared shorter for mountain twisties and all two-lane roads. Since I only ride the interstate about 10% of the time, my 883 is perfect. The 1200 has to stay in the bottom gears for where I like to ride.
Why is that because it doesn't have bags and weigh 900lbs? Anyone who thinks any bike is for "girls" is very insecure and trying to compensate for something.

Hey man that's awesome! Sounds like a cool ride as well. I'm sure you can ride all year round there too

As im currently thinking about getting one this summer are there any flaws with the 883 ? Is it reliable ? Heard that they leak like crazy

ok because no one else asked i guess i'll ask......WHAT'S WITH THE ZIP-TIES WHAT'S YOUR SECRET?!?!?!?!! 2:00
look at them and think for yourself... they have absolutely no use other than "cosmetic"
maybe, just maybe, it keeps his gloves from slipping off, but that has never happened to me
A good video. And thanks for taking us along. Was that your fuel light on ?
Richard Enstad yes but it's messed up😂
Love the sportster " the bobber look is my favorite as well
What exhaust is this ?great sound. Hi from Unbreakable Ukraine !
If you want more power could have bought a 1200 big difference I had both
What year is your 883? Will the V&H intake that you bought fit without issues?
Did you buy or cut that fender yourself? I love it
I just bought my 883 yesterday! It's my first bike, I have zero experience, other than owned a 170cc scooter. I hope I can get this shifting down.
You'll be fine since a Sportster is just like a scooter LOL.
@@gwilliamwallace We are all bragging how fun the 883 is and sure enough there's always one Debbie Downer.
@@jvdthunder1282 You're right that was mean. I actually love Sportsters and was trying to be funny. Please accept my apologies.

That 900 and it's pipes have some deep Chest! Talk about thump!
I've heard the Iron 883 are pretty bullet proof
They certainly are
I bought mine a year ago and let me tell you I get boy I get so many compliments I love it. Let me tell you it ain’t no bitch bike!
Thanks for making this video bro hola from Madison Wisconsin
I've heard those are a blast to ride

I know exactly what you’re saying! So many videos saying that is a girls bike ! Bullshit I have more than enough power that I can handle .
If that Motors the Evolution motor it is reliable as any other motorcycle on the road and will last forever
Hey how tall r u? Im 5.8" - 179cm im too tall for this bike? For my budget this bike is realy coool i love this!
you are too tall.I am 178cm and it's pretty uncomfortable because it feels small...and while you're riding it's worse
How much did you pay for it and how. Much do you think it'll be worth today
Paid 5500 over two years ago, worth probably 5k now!
They are bulletproof
Yeah, been wanting more power lol I feel you

I dog mine too... Fun hearing this "little" 883 twin rev out.
TheAlienBeard 20,100😂 I go every where on this thing
bones82 GA dude that's awesome! I'll get there soon!
I plan to start a moto vlog channel, just need to get the camera.

Boomer Guy thank you
Cannot w8 2 get myn thanks 4 all the videos awesome man
Donovan Peace I want to see videos of it!!
LoL did you realize you gave the pass key to the security gate at your storage facility lol just saying lol...
The Sportster IS Harley Davidson. The 883 or 1200 is plenty of motorcycle. Those huge BTs are slow and handle/brake like crap in comparison.
Dude toss a hammer 1250 on that thing! Cheaper than buying a 1200 and you wont regret it!
Men your sound like Nicolas Cage ,dude that bic cool...
You know the Sportster is a chick bike right?
HA
George Wallace no such thing as a chick bike. Every bike can be for everyone.
George Wallace .. Wrong...just wrong...go ride one, and report back.
Hells Angels head Sonny Barger rode a so called chick bike
