    If you have a civilian P320-M17 the removal process is slightly different. The rear T15 screw on the surplus gun is instead a spring loaded pin on the civilian model. Simply use a punch to push the pin in, and while you have the pin pushed in, carefully remove the back plate. Then carefully remove the pin/spring and extractor. You don't need to remove the striker. All you have to do is use a 3/32 allen wrench and remove two screws on the underside of the slide that are securing the sight plate. They were put in by the factory using blue Locktite, so they will be tough to remove. Push down hard to you don't strip them as you are breaking them free. Once you remove those screws, the sight plate and rear sight come off.

Having watched your videos repeatedly made me unafraid of taking apart the two new P365s I bought yesterday for my wife and I to carry. Is the slide finish different on the military surplus version of the M17 then the civilian versions??? It looks to me like it may be… that’s one of my disappointments with the M17, that finish. My finish has been worn off just from a few range sessions using an Uncle Mike’s nylon holster. I think for the amount I paid for this gun, it’s finish should stand up a little bit better. Otherwise, I love it… I chose it over Taurus G3, safety was hard to release, Glock 19, couldn’t reach and activate the mag release well, and P365XL, (which I did end up buying one) for not being able to reach and release mag easily… I’d have bought it first if I new they had aftermarket releases. But I loved the M17 cuz it just fit my hand like it was made for me. I wish they’d have put a mag release and safety like is on the M17 on the P365XL. The M17 mag release is more squared off than the P365XL’s that kinda follows the profile of the grip. Oh, and the M17’s has texture. The M17’ s safety has a more pronounced lip and is flatter & wider than the P365’s safety. Not saying use the M17 sized safety, just it’s design shrunk down to fit the 365. I don’t know if anyone has had this problem, but if you put sideways pressure on the 365 safety it sometimes binds up. I believe that the design of the M17 safety would prevent that. Oh yeah, I digress… finish!!! I’m really disappointed with this finish!!! Anyone else have theirs rub off???

    I have questions. So the romeo 1 Pro and Romeo Zero have the same footprint withe the exception of different screw sizes. I recently bought a Romeo Zero Elite and included are screws which will allow it to mount to the R1P footprint? Second question, the Pro cut slides have R1P and RMR holes, can an RMR be installed without the expensive filler plate CHS sells?

  • @Smackdade
    @Smackdade 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The two screws that hold the rear sight plate on are 4-48 socket head cap screws. A 3/32 allen socket is the best tool for removing the screws - not a T15 hex

    • @OttoTheWeim
      @OttoTheWeim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct for the M18 and possibly civilian M17 but he is working on a military spec M17. It is either a Milsurp M17 (as I have) or a commemorative edition which also has the same PVD coated controls. The M18 uses 2 Allen screws to hold the rear sight on. They are different designs. SigGuy is correct in it being torx

    • @ToddRobinson13
      @ToddRobinson13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 2 screws needed a 5/64 Allen wrench. So, at least Sig is consistently being inconsistent.?

  • @p99guy
    @p99guy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I own both the surplus, and the commercial 320/M17- I have allways wondered why they chose to use different methods of attaching the rear sight plate ( one screw vs two screws)
    And a different rear sight design, and lamp color. They should use the military rear sight on them all.
    I have had two loc-tite the 2 screws on the civy model twice.
    Seems like differences for no real good reason.
    Holding off on the 320/M18 until a commemrative or special edition comes out closer to the actual military one.

    Great video! But maybe you can help with two issues I’m having. 1. After installing the Romeo 1Pro optic I’m left with the screw hole being exposed behind the optic. Am I missing something?? 2. I tried to lollipop the red dot with the front sight and the notch on the back of the optic but the red dot bottomed out and won’t go low enough. I haven’t put a laser boresight in yet so it may be a non issue.

    • @OttoTheWeim
      @OttoTheWeim 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sights do not co-witness with the standard sights. You would need a higher suppressor height front sight if you wanted to get co-witness with a front sight post.

    Hey Sig Sauer Guy! I just finished going through your videos and would like to say I'm a huge fan. I have a couple questions that I hope you might be able to answer. I am currently running a standard P320 and added the V1 factory flat trigger last year. I was thinking of adding the Apex forward set trigger bar, seeing as how it performed fairly well according to the data you posted in the video of p320 triggers. Can you give any anecdotal thoughts about this combo, since it wasn't directly addressed in your video (I saw V2 was)? This would be for carry, not competition. Also, do you feel the legion trigger bar or trigger is a significant enough upgrade over this combo? I know smallgunparts has both listed, and I'd be very interested in seeing how it stacks up to the other triggers you have! Thanks

    • @SigGuy
      @SigGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Apex kits are very nice. I have always been a huge fan of them. Most of my other videos are from last year. There are some newer trigger options available. Armory Craft will be releasing their 320 duel adjustable trigger February 1. I have been fortunate to have been using it for the past couple months. It is definitely a game changer. I would not invest in the Legion trigger. The Legion trigger bar is the exact same as the standard trigger bar but allows for a manual safety. I have posted a couple videos referencing Armory Craft if you haven’t seen those. The trigger is amazing.

    Wow there's only 1 screw holding the rear plate & sight assembly to the slide for the surplus edition? I looked this up because I am having trouble getting the two screws into the rear sight for the standard M17, which is a two piece assembly onto the slide. They must have changed the fixture design for this model. The sights came loose after about 1000 rounds and I don't like having to get loctite into the threads, as people have recommended to me. Not really happy with these sights and may have to contact Sig to get a replacement.
