For me, the great enjoyment I get from Dan's videos is that he's the narrator, not the star of the show. For mine, far too many other 4WD videos are the "look at me" type where it's more about the talking head than the trip. Great work Dan and very inspiring. I need to get out to see way more of our great Country than I have to date.

What a great experience.
Great work! I use the camp oven really often, usually cook enough for several days so we can reheat another time. Highly recommend picking one up on your travels, it’s a fantastic way to cook.
I have seen lots of photos and footage of Finke River gorge but not anything that has so clearly shown the evidence of the floods that had passed through and the depth and force of the water. Being the first few cars through carving the track back into the loose silt would have been interesting. Great video Dan 👍

That looked very "outbacky". Like Australia's version of Utah but more remote feeling.
Nice to see the comparison of the Gladiator to other vehicles. A reminder of how long wheelbased, wide and heavy the Gladiator really is. But it's doing it nicely. Are there shelf roads on your trip? That would be interesting.

Stunning country out there. I lived in Alice Springs for 8 years, been to the Finke gorge and Boggy Hole. Make sure you visit Palm Valley and the Western and Eastern McDonald ranges too.
Aha yeah, and a trip to Chambers Pillar. Definitely worth going to, also rainbow valley.

A dingo has actually attacked an adult, but that happened on K'gari (Fraser Island) when a chef/cook from one of the resorts (I'd like to say Eurong Beach, but I can't be sure) left the fenced area for a cigarette break. They definitely are capable of attacking adults but would need to have a reason (Smelling of food - like the chef - or, during welping, or being provoked.)
Yep Yep Yep Mr. Dan you need to let a little more air out of them their tires so they’ll float better on the sand

That sugar sand can be a show stopper, eh? Two things you can try, both at the same time or one at a time, whatever works. So close to water, grab pailfuls and pour them in from of your tires, really soak that immediate tire track area down and then, using a bit less water, draw your self a two track to better ground.
If you aren't totally stuck then just try sawing your steering wheel back and forth (in 4wd). At some point you will feel the front end grab and start to pull, stop steering and simply drive in that direction trying to no longer spin tires.

Every couple of years there are reported attacks on adults by dingoes, usually in areas like Uluru where the dingoes have become used to people and view people with food as an easy target.
Probably doesn't help that some people treat them like domesticated dogs and try the feed them because they're skinny

Hi Dan, what a beautiful area to explore. I was wondering what air pressure you were running on the soft sand you were having trouble with. I've been in all kinds of sand in a heavier vehicle and never had a problem aired down to 20 psi. I was kind of surprised the Gladiator was struggling.
I think that was about 24psi - I was just lazy not going lower which would have got me out.
Beautiful country as you say and thanks for showing us it! Are most of the tracks that you have been on so far GPS mapped already?
Gotta ask what in the world is a 4WD Ford Maverick and what would its equivalent be in North America?
don't think ford ever had this in usa, it looks sort of like a old jeep cherokee

I must be getting old because the Ford Maverick I remember was a cheap ass economy car back in the 60s and 70s. Haha.
Its a rebadged GQ Nissan Patrol. One of the greatest/iconic solid axle diesel 4wd's ever made, released at the same time as the 80 series. Patrols have indestructible drivelinenes while the landcruiser had the better engine. One of the main 4wds in Aus

How would you compare it to Africa as far as adventure goes?

Vastly different, because Australia is much more developed overall. So you go on a "wild" adventure for 2-3-4 days, but then pop-out in a fully developed town.
In many regions in Africa the "wild" adventure was everyday, non stop for months.
So they're different, but that also means I can get further remote with better information and get to more interesting places.
