My Rant on Cable VS Satellite (Comcast/Charter VS DirecTV)

  • Have had cable now for 5 days, and have had more issues than my 3 years with DirecTV! Completely forgot to mention the quality difference with cable vs satellite! DirecTV was crisp as could be and the channels are organized so perfectly. Cable, channels are all over, like MTV is in the 30's while MTV2 is in the hundreds. Makes sense right? NO! The picture quality is such a joke. It's like they took the SD version and shrunk it down real small to make it look a little less shitty. The sound is also way worse. For instance, on my Pioneer receiver, normal listening volume on DirecTV was between 45-50. With Charter, it's 65-75 which is taking my receiver pretty high. I don't like that at all. CABLE SUCKS! Don't believe their bullshit lies, they try to up sell it so much, talking about the best and most HD channels, which is false, as well as the never losing signal part. That is clearly a joke! This issue I had today in this video is a multiple-times-per-week thing.

    charter and Comcast are NOT the same. worked for both... they buy much of the same equipment, yes, but that in no way has to do the service. usually when service quits working its not the box.

    So, more than likely the Contractor that installed your Cable services left the Dish splitters in the attic and those splitters don't work the same way. The SD versions of channels are not the fault of the Cable providers, the broadcaster has changed the format they send the broadcast in. On a 16x9 tv the SD broadcast often has bars on the top and bottom of the screen. The cable box that you have is old, most likely the LOWEST form of DVR service from your cable provider. Call in a TC, ask for an inhouse technician, and upgrade the DVR service.

    back when i had directv is use to go out literally every single day. i didnt even bother with tv at that point i just stuck to netflix. the xfinity x1 platform on the other hand is that best TV experience I've ever had. i don't like Comcast as a company honestly especially after getting stuck with that 300gb data cap for their broadband where i live, but for TV they're probably my favorite in terms of experience.

    Hi Brian, I am very low tech on all this. What's the difference between DTV and Comcast? I understand Comcast but never had Direct TV. Also, how is DirectTV's internet? Thanks!

    i don't know if you've messed with your settings since this vid but you can enter the charter cable box settings. have the tv on, and the cable box off. press the cbl button, then menu button. up should pop a white menu screen turn it to 1080i if its not already and there's a few other things you can mess with video/sound options. hdmi also helps for better quality rather than the component cables provided during the install.

    When I signed up for Comcast I initially got the basic package to save money but it was unwatchable. That service only exists to lead you to the more expensive X1 package. It's deliberately designed to be unusable.

    Many of his problems were from just ignorance. Comcast definitely is not the same. X1 equipment is fantastic, multi room DVR been a thing, can stream, voice remote, a guide that doesn't look like that.
    That guide is what small crappy cable companies use. Cable is also very reliable never goes out, very rare like Satalite.

    • @BriansGarage
      @BriansGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely wrong. Comcast used at the time the exact same equipment as the “smaller” companies with the same style guide. None of my issues were from ignorance. My cable went out numerous times a week. In both of our homes. Can’t argue facts. Satellite to this day - has gone out twice for us. Don’t even know how many years old this video is now. Charter still has piss poor quality and tons of issues as verified by neighbors and friends with it. Comcast isn’t as popular around here anymore so I can’t speak for that now.

    I agree 100%. comcast is the worst tv service I have ever had..but I am stuck with it where I live now. I think that the people who designed this tv service are very incompetent. worst product I have ever dealt with. Please go out of business. .comcast.

    Yes charter cable has the best Internet service in the market, but there tv service is just fucking horrible. Direct tv goes out when it rains hard or snow that's why I have Netflix. Charter losses service everyday at any random point, the sound skips, super cheap quality and very outdated look. Dtv has small very hideable cable boxes and charter has giant cable boxes that take up a whole dresser. Point is the only benefit you get from charter is wifi which is really overrated unless you have 8+ people in your home using the wifi at one time. There is really no losing with dtv. Charter sucks ass

    Obviously there's an issue with the service. If the service was working properly you wouldn't have issues. I don't understand why people make these videos. Stupid people do stupid things though.
