Nintendo should make a modern R.O.B. for the WII U, I mean they already featured him in Smash Brothers, so it's not like people wouldn't know who he is! Just imagine. A R.O.B. With Wireless and online function, And the best part is, He would be able to play more than just two games without buying a bunch of accessories for each one!
R.O.B. is a bigger piece of video game history than a lot of guys in Brawl. He's more than a welcome addition for my liking. The more characters, the merrier anyway.
Not just the most important object in the history of NES, but the most important object in the history of GAMING! He saved video games. I read it in an article.
When I was 6, I remember getting the Nintendo when it first came out. It came with Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt and Gyromite. It came with the gun and of course, the R.O.B. I think it stopped working. I just used to control the gates with the controller. Wow! I surely miss the 80's.
This is cool! You should do some more videos like this. ROB's Wikipedia page seems to have been cut down quite significantly, though. Kinda sucks, because there was a lot of good info on there.
The only strategic reason to ever spin a gyro is to hold one button in place while you use the other gyro to operate the other button. The only reason to set both spinning would be if you had to operate both buttons quickly back and forth. The tops lose kinetic energy faster when they're being grabbed and lifted while spinning, so you can't keep up that kind of maneuvering for very long without having to return a top to either the spinner or one of the home positions.
Man I remember playing with R.O.B. when I was small the Nintendo was the first system I got and R.O.B. came in the NES Bundle with Duck Hunt and the NES Gun with R.O.B and Gyromite I should of taken care of my R.O.B. I miss him lol.
Yes. It says "CAUTION Do not place finger or foreign objects in gyro spinner. Misuse of gyro spinner can cause physical injury." There's also a picture of a finger touching a spinning gyro, with lightning bolts striking the finger, and a red circle with a line through it over the whole thing.
man. I remember having one of these when i was younger. sadly, it didn't last long once my older siblings got ahold of it ~sigh~ I'm really looking into buying a new one even it does cost an arm and a leg XD Great video! thanks so much for posting this. I'm thrilled to see R.O.B getting the attention he deserves ^_^!!!
I like these viideos. And you were right, that was funny! :P Just thought of those Gyro Blocks and I remembered. They are in Pikmin 2 in the Hole of Heroes in the Wistful Wild...
Rob and the power glove are highly collectible at least.. They may be almost useless but a least they're still cool and something that will increase in value over the years.
It's called a tribute. And be appreciative. That thing saved the Video Game industry, so it's an HONOR for it to be in the game. Besides, Pit CAN'T be the only classic character that's turned new.
I still have my R.O.B. But honestly I can't understand the point of the spinning tops. If R.O.B. can move up and down, why didn't they just have his arms move up and down separately to press the buttons instead of dropping tops on them?
6:22 I know that look of fear. That moment where you realize your Rob the Robot MAY have just become self aware.
you really have a great voice, man. your videos are always pleasant to watch and listen to.
Wow, thanks! Now I have a better understanding of the little guy. (Although I still don't really comprehend the operation of the first game)

I had that exact thought.
Nintendo Switch
Thank you! Well done Phil.
I've been wanting to see some good R.O.B. Footage.
This was a good video - finally, something worthwhile and original on TH-cam! Keep up the good work, Phil.
he did in mario kart ds you had to get a gold medal in every cup on the 150cc reverse
and bros brawl :)
I LOVE R.O.B
R.O.B. is a bigger piece of video game history than a lot of guys in Brawl. He's more than a welcome addition for my liking. The more characters, the merrier anyway.
2:10 TFW you're already dead inside
Lol

F-Zero GX on Gamecube. Port Town is also an arena in Super Smash Bros Brawl, complete with giant R.O.B.
This is cool! You should do some more videos like this.
ROB's Wikipedia page seems to have been cut down quite significantly, though. Kinda sucks, because there was a lot of good info on there.
The Star Fox character's original name was ROB 64. It's thought to be a reference to the R.O.B., as in a 64-bit upgrade.
Yo Phil, can you do one of these videos on the NES Powerglove?
Thanks in advance.
The music is a hidden song made by Kazumi Totaka. Watch PhilBond's other videos.
Dude, R.O.B. is teh PWN! He's one of the coolest Nintendo accessories ever. I wish I had one...
I've always wanted to know about ROB and see him in action. Cool beans!

what game was from 00:04 to 00:07?
where could you get the stack up attachments
I love this robot.
Yes. It says
"CAUTION
Do not place finger or
foreign objects in gyro
spinner.
Misuse of gyro spinner can cause
physical injury."
There's also a picture of a finger touching a spinning gyro, with lightning bolts striking the finger, and a red circle with a line through it over the whole thing.
Hahah, awesome vid. I love your stuff, man!
GREAT VIDEO!!! I loved the end of it!
Why do you need to spin the Gyros sometimes? To hold the gates down?
omg hes sooooooooo adorable!! :)
AFter seeing this video about a year ago, i went and bought one of them on ebay. It still works. :D Great vid.
man. I remember having one of these when i was younger. sadly, it didn't last long once my older siblings got ahold of it ~sigh~ I'm really looking into buying a new one even it does cost an arm and a leg XD
Great video! thanks so much for posting this. I'm thrilled to see R.O.B getting the attention he deserves ^_^!!!
Do you get the blocks with the stack em up game, or did you have to buy them somewhere else??
Can r.o.n.only be moved when playing a NES game?
gyro blocks from pikmin 2... cool. i remember that the green gyro block was from the man at legs and that was hard to get....
wow that was actually really helpful. Now i know what R.O.B. does and where his kart came from in Mario Kart DS
pretty good vid man. This vid will get very popular after the appearance of R.O.B. on Smash Bros Brawl.
Ahhh, SO THATS WHERE ROB BLS IN MARIO KART DS CAME FROM
thankyou for such an informative video.
I must see the awesome of this article!
were can i get one!!
It's strange that ROB has the same name of the robot from the StarFox series.
There might be something to that, you should look into it.
thanks for the video I always wanted to know how he works even though we had one back then it was never used.
this explains everything!I WANT 1!
Loved ROB in Brawl and MarioKartDS!
I don't know where they're available, I just have one. Don't remember how or where I got it. It's very cool though.
hey the ending song was Totaka's Song :)
The end song is from X! Hahah great usage!
R.O.B. looks like someone addicted to tv. Even when doing simple tasks, he can't take his eyes off the screen.
so whats the point of the gyros spinning?
"Holy shit, thats wrong."
Ha ha, nice one.
PHIL. Y U NO UPLOAD MORE VIDEOS?
I love playing as R.O.B. in Mario Kart DS and SSBB! They need to bring him back!
Rob the robot can be concidered as the toy robot of the 21sr century, wich is technically still incredible, it's a must have.
If they remade ROB for the 3DS or the WiiU, I'd buy it/him.
R.O.B.U.? No, that's not it...
Awesome video, thanks.
You mean Johnny 5 from Short Circuit?
Kind of wish I was born earlier to play the NES. I got the SNES, which is awesome but would be nice to experience its predecessor.
I like these viideos. And you were right, that was funny! :P
Just thought of those Gyro Blocks and I remembered. They are in Pikmin 2 in the Hole of Heroes in the Wistful Wild...
I'm asuming this was never released in the UK. Can some explain to me what the point of this robot is? I can't work it out.
Thanks for this video, I finally Know where did R.O.B came from(I am still shocked he is actually a PLAYABLE character in SSBB!)
Rob and the power glove are highly collectible at least.. They may be almost useless but a least they're still cool and something that will increase in value over the years.
I need to get a R.O.B. to be a DJ did you see him spin those disks? man he has got mad skillz.
Whoa it's smaller than I thought when I saw pictures of him
So that's why Robs cart in MKDS looked like a star!
It's called a tribute. And be appreciative. That thing saved the Video Game industry, so it's an HONOR for it to be in the game. Besides, Pit CAN'T be the only classic character that's turned new.

No he moves from flashes from the tv I just got one and I need stack up. what you do is you press start then a b or the d-pad to make him move.
Five stars! Nice video, I was wondering how ROB worked!
I always thought ROB looked hypnotized by the games.
Hahaha, the ending is the funniest thing, I love your face
You guys didn't miss a beat.
Yeah. You press select to switch controller modes.
Hey, what's R.O.B.'s favorite food?
thanks for this video!!
Totaka's theme at the end!!

I wish nintendo re-made rob
He... He's; LEARNING!!!
Nice. Totaka's Song at the end.
the end made my day
R.O.B. may be slow and noisy, but that doesn't stop him from being cool!
oh my god,that is LOUD.
For the awesomeness.
I really want one!!!
Hey thanks for showing what ROB exactly is :-)
I NEED TO BUY ONE
Great video! Even from the start, Nintendo has always been innovative. :)
R.o.b. is in Brawl woot!
Finally, someone explains R.O.B. Nice facial expressions, if you don't mind my saying so.
OH! I hear the tune that was remixed in SSBB!
