    You were in my backyard. You guys should have went and checked out the old shale pit out at wolfpen. Fun road getting to it and has a cool cave to walk through.

    what a wonderful video, perhaps my favorite or yours. I've been watching since your channel was tiny. What impresses me the most is your kind, and caring demeanor. Sharing the outdoors and the experience is so important, this isn't your best video, but it really shows how kind and generous you are in sharing your knowledge and experience. There is nothing more generous and important than passing on knowledge and this is a near perfect example. Thanks for this. Have a perfect day tomorrow!

    There's a really nice hike near there. Buckeye Trail to Caney Creek loop. We did it several years ago in 3 days / 2 nights in the ice. It was an epic backpacking trip for sure. Nice video, Matt.
    edit: Thanks for letting Carl tell his story and including it in the video. That adds an awesome element to this trip/video. I love bringing new people along and seeing them experience a true multi-day outdoor adventure for the first time.
    edit 2: I love the Flatside Wilderness area, as well. Been there many times on the Ouachita Trail. FYI... the view from Forked Mountain might be better than Flatside Pinnacle and Crystal Mountain.
    Next time, I'll comment AFTER I watch the whole video. Lol.

    I’ve been to that “bluff line camp”, I almost camped there overnight but moved to a different spot, me and some friends were there to climb then repel off of forked mountain, there’s a great swimming hole just up the trail from camp.

    out of curiosity (and this might be an obvious question) but was the gate "locked locked" or was it one of those "gotta jiggle jiggle some doo hickey in the latch mechanism" gates? For work we have tons of these and some have locks and some just have a metal pin adhered to a chain so when I was taking part in my overlanding kayak adventures on land that belongs to us, I would have tons of these gates from 1960s that had a yellow space where you would put your hand and remove a 1 inch thick metal pin thing.

    @OzarkOverlandAdventures When do you typically decide to air down the tires? Are you running normal air on those forest roads, and do you usually wait to air down until you get to a trail? Or do you air down at the start of the trip? Love your videos! Have done a few overlanding trips in my '99 LX470 and you all have been an inspiration! Keep it up!

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I typically air down as soon as I hit dirt. How much I air down depends on the trails I'm running. For mild forest roads like these I'll go down to around 20psi. If I'm running more technical trails I'll go down to 14. If I'm doing serious rock crawling I'll go down to 10-12.

    • @glomar_response
      @glomar_response 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OzarkOverlandAdventures awesome thanks! Went on Glade Top Trail a few weeks back and they had us air down to 18-20 psi for some pretty technical stuff, and that got me curious as to when the best time to air down was. Love your guys' videos, and how down to earth you are! Inspiration, and my favorite channel!

    Hi Matt - You have owned a JGC WK2, do you think the Moon Shade would clear the rear tailgate of the WK2? I have looked on their website but couldn't see any Moon Shades attached to a lift up tailgate vehicle.

    • @marceld6061
      @marceld6061 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I own a similar shade. If you have a rack to fasten it to that is above the gate, the shade will just be tipped to drain (if it is raining) toward the poles. They are very handy shades to have!

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures

    How would you get the Moon shade to seal and not leak water toward the back of a Jeep if the Jeep happened to be slightly sloping toward back.

    • @marceld6061
      @marceld6061 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lower the legs so the shade is higher where it attaches to the vehicle? Or lean it sideways.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures

      Level the Jeep so it doesn’t slope back.
