I love this quote!! 57:39 "The pursuit of money and everything that you think around money is really not the pursuit. The pursuit is to find who you're supposed to be in this world, figure out your gift, and to share it with as many people as possible. And when you do that, I can only guarantee you one part of the equation: You'll be happy. And you'll die a happy person." The whole video was fascinating... thank you so much!

What about "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. and to 'Love your neighbor as yourself'" ? Wisdom should be the guiding principle in how we identify, develop, and employ our gifts, ensuring that our actions align with God's will and serve His purposes rather than our own ambitions or desires. That all our pursuits, including the development and use of our gifts, should be undertaken with a primary focus on glorifying God and advancing His kingdom, guided by prayerful consideration and a deep desire to do His will.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
[48:28] *Personal branding is like choosing a water bottle: without a label or story, it's hard to stand out. Design, narrative, and presentation are crucial for differentiation.*
[49:11] *Sharing your story isn't self-serving, it's attracting the right audience. It builds trust, engagement, and authority.*
[50:20] *Fame and skill aren't always linked. We often associate popularity with expertise, even if it's inaccurate. Be mindful of this bias.*
[51:45] *The power of tools can be misused. Storytelling and marketing techniques can have negative consequences, even with good intentions. Consider the wider impact.*
[53:38] *Your interpretation shapes your results. Take action based on what resonates with you, not someone else's story. Be an action taker and use knowledge for good.*

Why would someone tell the entire world how to build a successful brand, if they really knew how? They would keep it for themselves. This is the most naive era and the fallout will be unreal.

Great masterclass, super useful, as always. I relate to the idea of being allergic to people constantly trying to sell you something online these days. And people only talking about how successful they are. I agree that there's plenty of it and it's not exciting anymore. BUT. I feel like that might be the winner strategy? Because so many people are attracted to these success stories and like to see how well someone is doing. They want to learn from them and get inspired. Yeah it might not be us (however, I used to follow quite a lot of people like this) but plenty of other people would follow those successful people selling something rather than vulnerable, honest and 'too clever to sell' ones...

I ran into Chris in person a couple weeks ago, and he's such a sweet guy. I watched this entire video with a pen and paper and here's what I learned:
    1. Write down everything you hate about yourself, and what people probably hate about you. Use those words + a transformer word to build your personal brand.
    2. Be truthful in your content-not because "vulnerability" is the trendy thing to do, but because it is what is right. (DON'T manufacture false trauma just to fit in.)
    3. Make content as if you were writing it to yourself in your journal.
    4. Tell stories that make you look bad, then teach how you grew from it. If you are the hero of the story 100% of the time, no one will trust you.
    Thank you, Chris!

After discovering it, I got from freelance to agency by Chris's guidance. So yeah I think to find out what makes you happy, you need to be isolated by other things that effect your thoughts/behaviour and try whatever you think might work.

For the question on building the personal brand versus a design studio brand or the clout, I feel the studio would be an extension. For a general example, Batman. Think of him as who he is, what his brand is. And then think of the justice league. The justice league is more than one person but each one stands out on their own.

To be accepted into the group. Wanted. I have always been an outsider and a lot of pain has come from that. Hey everyone, I've been reflecting on common challenges we face in expressing ourselves, like struggling to articulate thoughts or feeling misunderstood. These issues can lead to missed opportunities and strained relationships. Drawing from timeless wisdom, I've found inspiration in the effectiveness of religious messages in connecting with their audience. By recognizing these patterns, we can empower ourselves and others to find our voice authentically and make a meaningful impact. It's interesting how everyone talks about creating a cult-like following, but few discuss the authentic communication behind it. How do you think we can cultivate genuine connections and empower others to find their voice? I thank you Chris and your team for creating this video and the 1000 others. I hope this could help at least one person and my dream is to help the futur grow as well, maybe this is what they’re missing.

Love the content! Can I just say something about the video edit itself? There are too many SFX on the titles. Instead of highlighting Chris's bullet points, they are distracting. I almost want to close the tab because of them, but I'm tolerating it because I really want to hear the rest of Chris's talk haha. Thanks again for the great content. - A motion designer/editor

Couldn't agree more, the sound effects and visuals detract from the talking, they don't add.

Some audience members are the distraction. The fact Chris keeps going unflustered by that...way more tolerance than I have

Just chiming in to say that longform intimate videos like this one from The Futur are always classics because we love feeling like we’re sitting right there with Chris, learning firsthand from him. We’ll happily watch stuff like this uninterrupted cuz I would argue that this audience has the attention span! lol
Thank you so much for delivering yet another great resource. ❤

Hook(ed), line, and sinker in the first 5 minutes (& 30 sec). And, I mean I couldn’t stop listening off the jump. Even if you’re cognisant of these things, you hold them, you’re experienced enough to go off script with them?
As you continue listening to Chris, do you STILL get invaluable new ways to put things, thus it’s a new path in your tool kit?
It’s like being shown yet ANOTHER path, and maybe you wonder, “Huh.. can I find new branches that come off this?” Do you still learn invaluable new stuff, too?
Maybe that all sounds crazy to do, but that’s what I do, and that’s what happens for me every time -without exception.
That’s a pretty stellar track record Chris.. no pressure! Lol 🤝

I love your content Chris but the general business acumen of the folks you attract and put a camera on is wanting, especially when it comes to live, participatory discourse. Maybe I'm too advanced for this stuff... But I still love it. There's nothing wrong with consuming the fundamentals until they're second nature. You do a great job.

@@thefutur ooh! Good question, I think the best way I can explain it, I was going through what we’ll just call “life” and at the time I took everything that I felt, good, bad and otherwise and I put it onto a greeting card. And I was somehow able to turn all the bad stuff into something that lit me (and a lot of people up). Apols in advance for the language - My biz is called K*NTY KARDS. Kards you’ll swear by 💌😅 we’re all about those small insignificant life moments where you feel completely understood. I’m not sure if I crossed over into my corporate branding there but we just say it how it is :)

    • @michellebirch
      @michellebirch 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

The whole biz has been a massive part of my healing journey and getting back to square one, finding my voice etc and having to do a lot of that on my own, so figured if I can help someone not take life so seriously or if I can make one person smile - it might not feel so lonely.
