"They don't have ideas worth copying, they do the copying" This line hit hard.
When becoming a content creator is just a means to an end and not a way of creating a new reality, you are back on the survival hamster wheel.
Becoming a creator is a lifestyle, a philosophy, a way of being.

The best way to do content creation is to put yourself in a position of power financially so that you enter and stay in the space without being desperate.
While desperation can lead to massive action, for the most part, it is negative. It is a position you don't want to be in.
I have done the same thing from the age of 32, hitting rock bottom, working on myself for 7-8 years, and then seeing unimaginable success. Now, I have found my purpose in content creation, but I can afford to invest a lot into it, both time and money, while not being desperate or being that starving artist.

    • @jeronimoduarte

So true. I am still on this desperation situation after having failed with a failed project which took all I had. Did you went back getting a job? Any advice you could share on how to take it easy while being in desperation?

    • @Uncommony
      @Uncommony 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@jeronimoduarte I still work, but in a very lucrative industry, that allows me to pursue my purpose.
There are a couple of ways.# First is mindset, which is hard because we are all human. The grind and constant struggle will have you second guessing and feeling sorry for yourself. But anything is as good or as bad as you want it to be it's a mindset.
Secondly , which I prefer and I'm a great advocate of is self investment, but we are not all blessed with the time, money, or knowledge. Example, I hit rock bottom and was stuck on minimum wage at the age of 32, I went back to college and got several qualifications to then climb to over six figures. Now I'm in a passion to do what I want when I want because I put myself in a position of power. Yes, I sacrificed sleep, comfort, going out, etc, but I now reap the rewards.
So, know so much more is possible for you if you apply yourself, stick to something, and give it time. You got this

I signed up on some platforms that promises to accelerate growth on TH-cam. I found it unethical and quit feeling disheartened that it's all about algorithms, so, and stealing other people's content and repackaged it. It's clearly obvious in faceless channels especially the Christian and Stoic faceless channels. AI seeks out the top trending videos and rewrites the transcript with all the keywords. It just goes against my values.

It is like what we produce as creators can be “brought to market”.
I’ve read many books, to condense that knowledge into articles that can provide the information and be consumed in a fraction of the time might be the “excess” that I can “bring to market”

I think the only thing i disagree with in the messaging is that entropy is always bad. When it comes to the mind, evanescence is natural and necessary for mental health and sometimes it's necessary to step away completely so the mind can be refreshed and the soul at ease.
That said, if you're not organized enough to pick back up right where you were, it can also be a very big problem to go into a completely unfocused state.
An organization system that works for me has been key to get inspired, focus, and kick some butt when i need to and take a day with several naps if I feel like it.
That state of organization, of known states, of jumping off points, that's the thing to look for. It's not easy either. It took me just about 20 years.

    • @PhilipDunnArt

Entropy is a powerful monster. There's some Jesus quote about everything being taken away from those who have nothing and all given to those who have everything. There's a brutal physics to it. I agree, though, that some entropy is part of a natural pattern. We come apart then we re-assemble. That's one of the natures of life. The really odd natural phenomenon, however, is that of transformation via growth. Take the caterpillar. It can't keep it together with its organized form. Time ticks, and it hurtles toward a phase where it will seem to be disorganizing. . . but then it simply births out into a completely different life form (Chrysalis then Butterfly). Amazing faux-break-down becomes fabulous new creature. That, to me is WILD.

Great thinkers hang out here. I've noticed this uplifting trend via Dan's content. There is deep thought and deep work going on here. The Kortex discussion group is a great place for this, too. We are not all TikTokkers and Insta-Influencer-Zombies! We don't care to pimp icky products for impulsive consumers.
That said, here's my get-to-market problem: I'm an authentic artist (cringe at the word authentic) with all kinds of unique product to share. I need to crack the code within the context of exposure, promotion and Dan's philosophies about solving problems. I have a hard time building avatars and coming up with problems that art solves.
Some leads I've stumbled upon: 1) Art as epiphany that solves certain phychological conundrums in peoples' lives. 2) Art as a catalyst for personal transformation, 3) Art as a self-programming tool.
Any additional ideas? Much appreciated if you have some good insights/new angles on this. Thank you!

@@PhilipDunnArt I have some ideas for you. Call it serendipity but for the first half of this year I was working hard on packaging and art as a solution since I'm an artist. But I took a break from that to focus on another idea for now. But I think this could help.
Consider an angle where your art targets health, wealth, and relationships.
      1. Health
The art creation process has a stress relieving effect. This is why art creation timelapse videos and similar ideas do well.
Even if a person can't engage the process, merely observing it has a calming effect.
Since art creation also promotes mindfulness and relaxation, you could think about selling an art creation course using this angle.
Art creation can be great for the elderly who'd like a creative way to keep their motor and cognitive abilities working
      2. Wealth
      Art as a status symbol
Consider art as an appreciating investment that people or businesses can invest in.
Corporate art collections for high end businesses can help with impression management
Art can be used as a tool for branding by using colors, symbols, or ideas that match the business image
Office art work can create inspiring environment that boosts productivity in the work place
Affiliate partnerships with luxury hotels or hospitality businesses that value art in their interior scheme
      3. Relationships
Art for gifting on special occasions
      Art creation activities for bonding

Each website is different services I got paid for as a biz and as an independent contractor working with other people. My last lesson: in my current position i teach and I create ALL of the content. literally.the school only gives me the student...but I keep the student with my presence, my knowledge and my resources..this is THE LAST job I will have. Im building my digital assets. literally.

Many people here are deep thinkers. May I pick your brain?
My content is exploring stories from anime manga and game (lore) to become an author, the writing journey and getting a job in the writing industry.
Whats the problem im solving for my audience? Any thoughts on execution so I can provide value?
Im half Japanese and grew up in Japan and Korea so theres my perspective.

I would say boredom. Anime solves the problem of boredom and lack of inspiration, so create content from that reference. Discuss things that are interesting and inspiring from anime, then break down why it is interesting and inspiring from a writer’s perspective and how you use these systems of interest and inspiration to further your career.

“They don’t have ideas worth copying, they do the copying.” Yep! I work in the documentary space, and last year a “content creator” carbon copied one of my companies docs. Shot for shot, the music, the premise, and virtually word for word except for adding their own name. I’ve been in this industry for 15 years and never once has someone plagiarized our work.

What a beautiful path you describe! This is how I have always felt social media can and should be. Unfortunately, the moment a child is born, it is taught everything that is a betrayal of itself. So much so that the child starts doubting its very authenticity and starts accepting the distorted worldview of others as correct and true. At least today, this is being challenged.
This inauthenticity is the real reason for unrest, discontent and displeasure. People think 10 times before acting real. Those with shady tactics involving false-trust seem to gain credibility. Honestly, I hate those who politely hurt me than those who hurt me openly- they are more honest and trustworthy.
But the silly society is structured to make authenticity a sin. Nothing can be further from truth. In a sense, this betrayal of self and its acceptance is the greatest sin.

      @PhilipDunnArt วันที่ผ่านมา

Great points. Something should be said about false-authenticity, however. The "authentic" drum has been so consistently beat since the early days of Gary Vaynerchuk. This leads to a lot of false authentic. . . but who am I to judge. In fact, I won't judge. I'll just say that there are many highly-influential people out there that propagate UNTRUTH with heaps of authenticity. That's a disservice. And, I'm not talking about garden-variety untruth like political and football-team allegiance types of truths. I'm talking about philosophy: what is real and what is not real. Dan Koe does a great job of cutting close to the bone when it comes to what is REAL.

I recently figured out that my vision is to create the #1 multimedia empire that creates stories people are actually interested in. With the increase in movie flops, remakes, and sequels, I want to give the people what they want by regularly listening to the audience and getting them involved in the decisions.
