Gini, our visit was so special to me and I am so thankful that you agreed to meet with me. I've just watched this with Arne and we are both so moved just that you would be so kind with your words and generous with your intentions toward us. Thank you, so much. Honestly, I'm still so jazzed by our time together. You're amazing and I feel so blessed to have met you. COME BACK SOON! 🥰💜
Thanks Ginni and Faith 🫶🏻 Very moving to hear you speak about Faith, Ginni. A true vocation there, and work that is so very much valued, and undervalued. Edited to add: Have you got the Camper shoe store in the US? They have footwear I think you’d LOVE, some are in a similar vein to the Ecco clogs, but plenty of other cool styles too. Designed and made in Spain.
thank you for your generosity Rosey, 🤗 we used to have a Camper store on Oak St in Chicago when I worked there but, alas, they have since closed. I do still find Campers here and there and I do love them but wish there was a store close to me.
Loved hearing about your NYC trip. I saw the same ecco shoes in Paris! So cool you met Faith, very inspiring. Nice job on the pants! “See” you next Sunday 😁
Ah Gini, Faith’s work really touched you, it held you as you spoke. I am so happy you had a great trip. Thanks for answering my question re style arc cutting lines! You are such a warm person xx
Great video! What an amazing trip to New York... all of it... especially Faith and her husband. They obviously made an impression on you. And those pants... love 'em. The welt pocket is great, the pattern matching is great, the colour is great. I see why you love them. Go you 😆.
Thank you, Gini! Fabulous NY trip , I don’t expect to ever go there myself, and I so enjoy hearing about others’ trips! God bless Faith, her husband, and all those called to serve! ❤🙏🏼 Terrific Trousers!🎉
Sounds like you had a nice trip. So nice to hear about your new friend. ❤Love your second Mitchells! P.S.That rug next to the green tile fireplace is gorgeous!
Fabulous round up of your trip and wonderful that you met with Faith and could share with us the amazing work she and her husband does. You are right, it is a calling and I am so glad there are such good people in the world. As for the Mitchell trousers - WOW- talk about setting a high bar!! I have started mine (stalled whilst I await the delivery of D Rings) but if they turn out half as good as yours I will be amazed. Love them. ❤. Happy Sewing. 😊 Lynne
@ Hi Ginny. Thanks for your interest. Despite being frustrated by curtailed sewing time, I only have waist facings and hems to do. I love them 😍. I have gone for the waist ties so all bells and whistles and have to say the instructions and markings etc have been brilliant but I have really taken my time as I am not as experienced as you!! . I made a straight size 14 and they fit perfectly. However I may have to do hem facings as I stupidly shortened the legs by too much. As for your question re bar tacks: I usually do mine about 1cm (3/8th inch) long. Lynne 😊
Oh your trip to New York sounds so fun and interesting. The place you stayed was amazing. I loved the quilted pants. I could just imagine them for the holidays. You did a great job on the trousers. I was sewing pants but the fitting was not cooperating and unfortunately I found out I have cancer. With all the appointments and things coming up. I’ve put sewing pants up for awhile. Hopefully after the surgery and possible chemotherapy I can get started back on them. I’m still sewing but just simple things like skirts and bowl cozies. I have 2 free days in my sewing room and looking so forward to being in there.
So sorry to hear about your diagnosis Victoria. I have a good friend going through chemo right now and I know how hard that is so please take care of yourself and enjoy your sewing time 🤗
Gini so glad you enjoyed your trip to my town! I will be donating to your Kofi acct for Fatih's cause. People like Faith and Arne are just who we need in the world. Keep us posted on their mission and if I can help I will be glad to! Now for a bit of sewing news- you MUST make the new Friday Pattern Co Dew Dress. It's a quick sew that delivers and I think it's just your style.
@@thebigsewalong I made my first one in a stable jacquard knit and I love the structure it gives the subtle cocoon shape. I'm planning a tunic length one in a wool knit for layering over pants this winter.
We’ve spent a weekend in a converted bank now notified motel! It’s fun to see what they do with the old vaults. This one made it into a computer work room. I’ve seen old vaults converted into a special room to be reserved for a family dining space. I love looking at old architecture because it’s so decorative and can be inspiring. I look at old clothing in antique stores. We have a cute place locally called, Creatures of Habit. You can rent or purchase garments of all different periods in this store.
What a great trip! That hotel is beautiful. Gallery hopping, my dream day. How I wish I could get around better but I know it won't happen so I live vicariously thru others. I am so envious of this trip....sigh. I'm glad you had a good time. Those Comey jeans are so cool and I'm definitely hitting the Ecco website, those clogs have my name all over them. I'm not a religious person but I do think there are special people on this earth who are very special, very giving, very selfless. Like Mr Rogers said, look for the helpers. What you are doing is just so lovely and I promise to sit thru the commercials. Big hugs to all the flurries❤️
Those pants turned out fabulously 👌and look great on you too! I'm sure that pocket is so close to matching only you would really notice it, as my Dad would have said from a galloping horse. I love that acid green colour but wouldn't wear it next to my face so separating the plaid with a black shirt is a great way to incorporate it into one's wardrobe.
What a GREAT trip!!!! (Heh...I get overwhelmed in the NYC fabric stores too---last time I made a list & spent a lot of time at Pacific trim. I am confident the salespeople thought I was a big weirdo because I spent so much time looking at stuff & touching everything) I love NYC
Oh don't be sorry! As an avid lipstick fiend I'm always happy to share 😂this one is Velvet Duchess from Lisa Eldridge I'll try to link it here. us.lisaeldridge.com/collections/true-velvet-lip-colour/products/velvet-duchess-true-velvet-lipstick-colour
Fabulous trip & I love those pants! FWIW, my swanky new Janome has a couple of bar tack presets - they are .7cm & 1cm long - so maybe those are good standard lengths?
You are the second viewer to ask so I guess that makes it a keeper for me! It is Velvet Duchess from Lisa Eldridge I will try to link it for you below. us.lisaeldridge.com/collections/true-velvet-lip-colour/products/velvet-duchess-true-velvet-lipstick-colour

Kudos to you for your commitment to support Faith and her mission. Glad you enjoyed NY, it’s nice to have a mini vacay before the holidays hit.
Thank you Jan, My husband has been on work overload since July so we really needed a little away time.
Done, love the Mitchell’s, thx for sharing your friend and her and hubby’s work. Important. ❤

@ I do love those waist ties and may put them I. My next pair. Thanks for the bar-tack info I’m writing it down so I’ll have it handy next time

Loved New York when l visited all the way from New Zealand! And of course l went to Mood!
Kara Walkers work is amazing!
agreed! you could look at one of her pieces for hours and still find something new.

I love looking at old architecture AND old clothes they are both so inspiring. Turning the vault into a room is such a cool idea.

thanks red, I love this color too but, as you said, not next to my face so I'm glad I finally figured out what to do with it.
Love those Mitchell trousers! What a great colour.
thank you Vanessa !

😂😂😂OMG if touching everything makes one a weirdo then we're in the same club 😂
Ginny I’m sorry to be that girl - but will you share your lipstick shade? I’m always looking for grungy reds ❤️
