@@omicronsrule6565 For me it’s mainly the fear to not use my potential, really this is one of my biggest fears. The „problem“ is I used my potential in the past and did great things. But I lost in on the way kinda, starting new things, being demotivated, fear of failure etc. And now I am here with 22, didn’t do much with my life yet, I learned some things but never finished something. We are in almost the same shoes bro. I'm 26, always been terrible in math in school because I didn't bother to study and disliked it a lot. Now that I matured I regret the years wasted. But I decided to pick myself up and do it now. It's better now than never, or better now than in 5 years. I'm also trying to get in one of the toughest universities but to get in, I need to score relatively high ( roughly 80% ) on all 5 subjects ( Math, Biology, Chemistry etc ). Had my first shot at the Math exam. I did pass it, but not enough points to enroll, so I gotta keep trying. It's a constant fight with myself though, there's days when I don't want to study and so I just waste that day I was supposed to use for studying. Hope you get into that university of yours

One of my favorite mathematics instructors of all time once told me that the time spent doing mathematics is virtually priceless, because it doesn’t matter what you get paid an hour or how much money you have, you cannot buy mathematical knowledge or pay someone to give it to you. The only way to obtain it is to actually spend the time doing it, reading the texts, watching videos, working exercises, and applying it yourself in your everyday life to deepen your understanding. What he was trying to convey to me was that one of the best ways to spend your time is to spend it doing mathematics. This was one of the most powerful things that I heard early in my math journey and has inspired me to do mathematics every single day.
I'm not a mathematician. Just a 31-year-old, philosophical inclined, severe burn victim whose life is very out of order. Thank you for this video sir. 💜

As a CS major and now software developer I got obsessed with my code being stylistically good, going down pure functional programming rabbit holes, is this written well, etc. The main thing about software development is getting a working solution, that produces the correct result, doesn't crash, isn't too slow, and ideally can be read/extended by other people if necessary. Worrying about whether your work is perfect will make you get nothing done. I switched to golang where there's one way to write most things and it's helped me quite a bit, took that experience and applied it to other languages, just get it done and if it's shit you can always rewrite the next day.
And also by overthinking you spend so much energy and after you're so exhausted that you have no more energy to do things even if you find a good solution or path
Overthinking is what has gotten me stuck often in math and physics classes. I think the solution has to involve some random other concept we learned and suddenly I’m spending hours trying to figure out this one problem

Quite often work that I’ve put off for weeks or months only takes a few hours! Back to maths. I would love to see a review of your idea of the best book on Calculus, because that’s where I’m struggling.👍😀
You can become more intelligent but it’s a matter of having a strong thirst and reason for it. We are all individuals and honestly our brains work differently so approaches to education should be different and tailored to your way of working to get the most out the subject you’re studying. At other times the subject you may be forced to study by the academia simply doesn’t interest you enough so of course trying to digest the information would be a hard process.
If you don't know the minimum effort required for a task, and that task is very important to your survival, overthinking is probably the best strategy.
What's more important, how to stop overthinking? The best answer I know: CBT, MBSR, MBCT. There are some other suggested ways like ACT, REBT, about which I do not know a lot.
I've been stuck on some overthinking recently regarding my studies, and still am somewhat. Eventually, I'll study mathematical modeling during my undergrad studies with a concentration in applied mathematics. So, I was looking for books on mathematical modeling, especially good-sized recent textbooks, to study ahead, but either they are very expensive or old and likely outdated. After much overthinking about weighing cost vs. need, I decided to order two: Meyer's *Concepts in Mathematical Modeling* and Bannerjee's *Mathematical Modeling: Models, Analysis and Applications* each costing about 9 U.S..D. and 33 U.S.D. respectively. I wish the latter book was of a much lower cost but I decided to make that purchase and move on. There are more books on the subject, but I cannot find more that are low-cost while somewhat up-to-date. I think the best I can do for now is to make the most of what I have and move forward while looking out for opportunities to get more suitable resources. Perhaps it's best also to realize that the *choices we make are not necessarily written in stone* We might not find a satisfactory resolution but can move forward with what we have while being open to other better resources and opportunities. Thanks for the video 😊
Great comment thank you for this! That's really cool that you got two books and yeah, about the price, I get it! I think it's worth it though. You will have these books forever:)
I am a mathematics undergraduate student and I recently read a research paper on combinatorics for a professor at another university in Texas that I am interested in his schools masters program. I was lossed in some areas but I understood part of the logic and wrote google questions to look up. I do overthink when I study for my classes on what topic or homework or reading slides for class should I start with. Until 2 hours later I just say fuck it! I am going to start here
It may help to take notes of many durations (exercise duration, reading duration, stuck duration when it comes). So some of my papers get a special function, and are helpful for decision making. But behind that, I write different types of texts. Some of them are conceptual and less rational than mathematics. This kind of process may help not thinking at all because doing could become thinking.
Thinking is the process of comparing and contrasting, of seeing from as many angles as possible (passable), in order to perpetuate freedom of movement. What we are really doing when we think is moving through a gauntlet of outside influences, which includes but is not limited to, the opinions and beliefs of others, present and past (consciousness) . This process is crucial for perpetuating ideas, and for perpetuating life itself. A non-thinking entity will imminently die, as will a non-thinking group. It is essential for life to think THROUGH (italicized) consciousness in order to arrive anew. This process is practical, but not repetitve. It is an upward spiral, not a closed loop (circular thinking). Circular thinking occurs when we allow consciousness to enfold us. When we continue to listen to all the outside influences, FOR TOO LONG A TIME (italicized), we fail to move through to new life. This is where many people become stuck, primarily because of FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN (italicized). "The devil that you know is better than the one you don't, and so it goes, round and round..." Unfortunately, we are often told to not think. Many people, present and past, are unable or unwilling to move out of circular thinking. We are discouraged from this essential life process by those who see it as a curse, rather than the gift that it truly is. The gift of overthinking! Of thinking over. What does one often say? "I'm going to think it OVER (italicized)". Or "We're going to think it THROUGH (italicized)".
My overthinking is deadly. The best points in my life were definitely when I wasn’t thinking and I just DID. I didn’t think “oh I only got a few hours of sleep, I wouldn’t have a very good study/workout session, and I still have to go to work after”, I just did both of those things and went to work just fine. Over thinking how to go about studying for these WGU classes bc it’s pretty much like I’ve been handed an online textbook and sent on my way. I need to just do any part of it…
Thanks a lot, this piece of advice is a great support for me right know, I believe for many others as well. Congratulations for your positive, motivational and realistic attitude.
It just seems like having SO much information available and screaming for my attention nowadays that I’m too aware of too many potential options. Like it would be reckless to not be thorough or something. Frankly, and this going to maybe sound crazy, but I’ve taken to largely just following my gut on a lot of things just so that I don’t end up over analyzing every choice. What I’ve found is that pretty much any outcome is preferable to nothing happening because I was searching for a perfect outcome.
I just had a very suck moment yesterday when i was at my final test, only to regret my lack of preperation, i was just so mentally difficult to study Calculus 2 up until the test, and i was facing it with a lot of anxiety from the home, so much so i even forgot to bring my notes with me which can very helpful if only i bring it, i even write on the scratch paper the proctor gave me and write on it " Stress and Anxiety only give you more problems and sadness" and other things that isn't helpful at all, and the anxiety continues after i finished the test i busy thinking about my future, "will i fail the class? will i get a C?". Now i realize i was stupid and what i do doesn't help at all. What i can tell is " Think about what you can control now" because overthinking past is nothing but adding more suffering.
Gramp I love you so much. I watch a lot of your videos. So I suggest you do something about video game addiction, this is not a joke anymore it's happened all over the world.
yeah i was overthinking just now, for the past few months, past few hours. i am thinking - actually determined about going back to get my math degree at the age of 30. i wish i had done it sooner, and yes i was not the person who had the clarity or guidance to make good decisions for myself. i kept blaming others for problems and not doing anything to solve them,
I really needed this tbh. I have to take linear algebra and I don’t remember any calc and I feel like I have to relearn everything. But I’m need to start
I always tell my wife that if her ever saw me overthink about something too much just tell me "Do the minimum requirement " when you get your head in the working the solution will come up.
I actually started in Calculus books before I've had finished the Algebra books I have. I think of my doing math like pushing information through a slow moving scanner that gets jammed sometimes if too much documents are put into it at once😆😆. My mind gets jammed with some of the calculus info sometimes because I simply don't know how to do a particular calculus problem. Then I quit calculus and go back to algebra. Eventually I'm ready to tackle the calculus problem again and move on to the next calculus problem when I still get it wrong. I don't understand the books on proof I have, but I at least read them hoping my brain will absorbed something enough to understand it. I set up Udemy for the math classes and intend to take a few classes there
Overthinking is pretty much procrastination. Find some recommended books/materials, but start working on them as soon as possible! One will learn more by having and reading one textbook than by having hundreds of them like a hoarder, but never opening them
I always wait for the right moment to study and I never actually start. And I've been looking for the best books and I waste time on this😂 it actually hurts because I want to let go of this bad habit of overthinking.

Unfortunately, we are often told to not think. Or "We're going to think it THROUGH (italicized)".
this is true. since i started winging life i started having more fun and getting better!
I need to just do any part of it…
Great advice!!!!
Thanks a lot, this piece of advice is a great support for me right know, I believe for many others as well. Congratulations for your positive, motivational and realistic attitude.
Really needed to hear this today. Greatly appreciated!
Woah just posted! Love your videos!
THANKS!! THATS MY CASE
Gramp I love you so much. I watch a lot of your videos.
So I suggest you do something about video game addiction, this is not a joke anymore it's happened all over the world.
yeah i was overthinking just now, for the past few months, past few hours. i am thinking - actually determined about going back to get my math degree at the age of 30. i wish i had done it sooner, and yes i was not the person who had the clarity or guidance to make good decisions for myself. i kept blaming others for problems and not doing anything to solve them,
Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m overthinking or not thinking at all.
Thank you so much sir.
Best video on You tube today. Funny how a lot of us needed this
I really needed this tbh. I have to take linear algebra and I don’t remember any calc and I feel like I have to relearn everything. But I’m need to start
I always tell my wife that if her ever saw me overthink about something too much just tell me "Do the minimum requirement " when you get your head in the working the solution will come up.
These are really helpful man, thank you very much 🌍
Thank you this was so good for me to listen to.
Thank you for the valuable point of view.
Actual best math course
Thank you. That is valuable!
Thank you! Ill think about it.
it's confirmed. Math Sorcerer keeps scrolling through reels too
THANK YOU FOR THIS!
Thank you!
🔥
Thank you. This helps me lot.
6:34 that's interesting 😀
Moral of the story: Just do it!
I set up Udemy for the math classes and intend to take a few classes there
Thanks.
Topology with Tears, was a good suggestion...
Instead of "stop overthinking everything" -> think things over every stop
Thank you
Thank you for what you are doing
"Go with it. Deal with it. And see what happens". Jordan Pettersson says also something familiar.
This resonated with me. simply go for it and then deal with the results/ effects lol 😊
I feel the pressure to quickly learn math too be successful
Never ever ever stop making these videos
Analysis paralysis
yup!
Thanks
I like how you didn't overthink the exposure/white-balance on this video 💀
See it as an adventure.
Thank you 🙏
Great video and yeah I over think everything 😅
Overthinking is pretty much procrastination. Find some recommended books/materials, but start working on them as soon as possible! One will learn more by having and reading one textbook than by having hundreds of them like a hoarder, but never opening them
That’s all I do is think too much.
I fear the niacinamide powder video will have to be my favourite now
Good video bro, and you look like jeff bezos with hair
Could you please make a video on math written in the 1st chapter of the book "art of programming, volume 1" by Dr.Knuth?
I always wait for the right moment to study and I never actually start. And I've been looking for the best books and I waste time on this😂 it actually hurts because I want to let go of this bad habit of overthinking.
Nice Video ❤
Good vid man...
