I havent heard a squeak or a rattle from mine yet, and I thought I would care more about the lack of LSD, but the truth is I could care less. Unless your stomping the gas from nearly stopped with the wheels turned, the front end stays planted very well in aggressive street driving. Just dont think you can auto cross the damn thing. I’m actually loving it. I’ve been a multi-generation Mazda 3 owner and unfortunately they seem to be moving away from sporty performance to boring luxury. Just 2 questions for anyone who knows.. 1. Can you not ask for a switch of tires off the lot? I heard KIA does offer Michelin Pilot Sport tires for some of they’re vehicles. 2. Is there a way to reverse the manual shift controls? It seems to be in the wrong direction which is unfortunate for a nice dual clutch if you wanna use it like a proper sporty sequential.

Having recently test drove the automatic and manual version of this car I will reiterate what the reviewer said, the manual is way way more fun to drive than the automatic. Also will mention the sound system with the built in subwoofers is one of the best I've heard in a car. A negative of the Civic it recommends premium gas. I'd easily pick this over the Civic because all the added features of the Kia AND you can't get the Civic for anything less than $5k over msrp around here!
Also test drove much faster cars for the fun of it, but I always felt like that kind of power would only help on the track. I was always looking for speed limits signs, cops and unknowing slowing cars. SO the 200 hp 195 torque of the Kia is just right!

I don't think the question is if it's better than the civic SI. Based on the price difference, the question is if the civic is $4k-$5k better than the Kia. Because in reality right now, that's the price difference (if not more). The obvious answer is NO, the civic SI is NOT $4k better than the Kia Forte GT. You can say what you want about the civics LSD, and probably superior manual transmission, all that isn't worth several thousand dollars. Base Kia Forte GT will save you at least $4k from the dealer marked up above MSRP Civic. In my opinion, this is an easy choice. (Unless you hate money, and/or are a Honda fanboy of course).

I’ve driven Toyota and Honda cars before I switch to to 2015 KIA Forte. I must say KIA cars are features rich and value for money. Korean automotive technology is just as good if not better than their Japanese counterparts. Drivers of Toyota and Honda are paying a premium for the brand instead of the value of their cars. My next car will still be a KIA.

Uh oh, heated and cooled seats? Honda may regret decontenting the US version of the Civic Si compared to the Canadians. All this plus a choice of manual or dual clutch should steal some Honda sales from cross shoppers.
I really like what Honda did with this gen Civic, (interior is slightly better than the Forte) but Kia did a bang up job with the refresh, looks pretty cool to me. Also...exhaust sounds better than the near silent Si. Hyundai/Kia have figured out how to make their turbo 4 bangers sound like muted rally cars.

I own a 2005 Honda Civic and a 2013 Kia Optima sx turbo. My optima has had 2 engine swaps while my civic is going strong without any issue. Nothing has been repaired except for regular maintenance. That dual clutch might work fine for 5 to 6 years but in the 7th year I am sure it is going to blow up and take your hands with it.
Now 2022 civic si is better period. Exterior wise it looks classy where as forte is shaped like an American football. Quality of interior is a step above in the civic and it’s actually rated at 220HP (Honda understated it). From my experience I’m pretty sure the fuel mileage in that forte is going to be below average regardless of what Kia claims.
In Canada the si has way more features compared to what is offered in America so it is a no brainer as to what you should chose.

If someone is giving you value at a low price point more often than not reliability will be an issue. I loved my optima until last year when I started getting all these problems. Now don’t get me wrong I have lifetime power train warrant which is great. But it take anywhere from 6-12 weeks for an engine swap and having been through 2 of them back to back is a very frustrating experience. One word that I can describe Korean brands is INNOVATION! Innovation is what the Japanese rivals is lacking. The only thing that they bank on is their reliability.. Most Japanese car owners honestly jaded that the Koreans is swinging hard with features that they wish they have in their Toyota or Honda..This Forte has ventilated seats for crying out loud! The Honda Civic Si is too compromising for the price. It lacks features like heated/ventilated seats, wireless charging, an optional DCT engine, and a bigger infotainment screen. And the Forte is so far the only compact car in its class to offer rear vents. Value has always been KIA's Forte. And kudos to Hyundai/Kia/Genesis for challenging Japanese rivals with more innovative design and technology! 👏🏾 🏆

#1. Is resale value, tho the Kia may be a better bargain it doesn't hold a candle to a civic si in the resale market you kinda get what you pay for
#2 . The aftermarket support. Honda pretty much sets those cars up so they can be modified and the aftermarket support for Hondas are out of this world and always has been for years. You have from the dealership the $200 options Michelín Pilot Super Sport 4S summer tires, please do it, the best option, because in the tires shop you need pay $200 for one tire.

@@GTGarageTalk I upgraded my DCT 2020 Forte GT with summer tires and the difference is very surprised, with my original tires the car try to grip making little jumps from the dig and the traction control activate, with my new summer tires the grip is fenomenal. The DCT needs the same option.

Can tell you more or less in two weeks how much grip my new tires, I going to the mountains between Carolinas, my brother get a 2017 BMW 230i so we can test how close we are. We tested her Mini Copper Countryman vs my Forte GT in the mountains and we are close in performance, in straight the Forte GT take the lead. Also we tested with a rented Ford Mustang convertible 4 cylinder turbo, also the Forte get the lead. Also I tested with a V6 Charger in the straight, and get the lead. Is a great sleeper. With 50 or 75 HP is a Great killer. Kia have a great chassis in this car, have a great opportunity to compete with a Civic Type-R, Kia need a special edition before make changes to EV

Can this car be practically used as an everyday car with 2 kids? I drove manual a lot growing up and I miss it. Would it handle, decently, in the snow at least?

      Would do great with kids!
Not sure on the snow part. No limited slip differential means if one tire started spinning, you’d be stuck.
