By far the best execution, you may listen the maestro touch! The dynamics are fantastics, the flow is coherent, timing is amazing: it's 1 pieces unique from start to the end, changing the mood with right volume, and accent. Just the best one.
In the last part of their lives the great conductors find a special freedom. They no longer have to prove their skill to anyone, they have no economic problems, they are more wise than in youth, they can finally try to really say what they want.
Absolutely a heartbreaker. The Maestro Levine had that special touch and the wonderful Puccini could melt the iciest of hearts. Thank you, Kievest, for sharing this gem. xxClaudia AND, thank you lucpebo for the great post.
Amazing interpretation!!! I just noticed that on this piece of puccini exist a fragment from Star Wars main theme beginning at 3:00 , ahhaha (of course in a very different mood). :-)
Levine always knew how to make drama audible. A wonderful conductor especially for verismo and everything that is deeply tragic. Just as his own life...
The fact is I love her! My passion is so strong that I regard myself the most miserable creature alive. In order to obtain her release, what did I not attempt in Paris! I begged aid of the mighty! I knocked and pleaded at every door! Even to force did I resort! All to no avail. There is only one way left; to follow her! And I shall follow her! Wherever she may go! Be it the top of the world !
“How I love her! My passion is so ardent that I feel I am the most unhappy creature alive. What have I not tried in Paris to obtain her release!...I have implored the aid of the powerful! I have knocked at every door as a suppliant! I have even resorted to force! All has been in vain. Only one thing remains for me and that is to follow her! Go where she may!...Even to the end of the world!”
@lenny2046 True. First time I heard I was like...wow, that's from Star Wars; or, I should say, Star Wars is from Manon Lescaut! I actually thought it was pretty cool.
Such a shame that this genius of a man was a predatory pedophile...thus, forever tarnishing his image in the annals of music history, Tragic on myriad levels
I took my late wife to a Manon just before she heard she had three months to live. I am typing with tears tears in my eye.
Thank you, aldo. This posting is so powerful. James Levine has created music here that I believe reveals the very soul of Puccini.
Still listening, still grieving, this music is so beautiful.
This is a lovely piece of music to have associated with her memory. My thoughts tonight will be with you both.
Thank you, Elaine was the love of my life.
I hope you have found comfort.
Such a beautiful piece of music. I feel honoured to have had the experience of being part of its performance. Absolutely chilling.
You played this ?????❤❤❤❤❤
The most beautiful intermezzo ever written!
One of the best piece of the whole music !!!!!
And this might well be the most beautiful rendition.
Bravissimo, Maestro Levine! We will never forget you!
Grazie Maestro Puccini
Straordinaria esecuzione, bravissimi Levine e Orchestra

Da brivido!! Bellissima!! interpretazione eccezionale!!!!!

Tragic for his victims
@@Marcel_Audubon Absolutely, yes.
Grande esecuzione. Maestro di grande personalità
This is amazing! And no dislikes too!

This is the best rendition of this .maybe Pappano. Also !!!!❤
its wonderful
No one conducts this Intermezzo better than Maestro Levine!
Riccardo Muti
The wonderful introduction has been cut.
Ammirevole!
perfecto !
the best interpretation ever! love Puccini...
pura poesia......
beautiful music
not me crying alone in my room to this intermezzo 😭😳
Marvelous.
Wow, bellissimo.
😊
Bellissima.........
Siiiiiiiii magnificooooooo
Where are the cello and viola solos!!!?? Why were they cut????
Sublime
The most beautiful part is definitely from 0.32 to 0.50!
Why the solos of viola, cello and violin are missed?!
Sublime...
Hermoso
Even in his age, BRAVO LEVINE!
3:19 - 3:30 Star Wars main theme!! O.o
3:19 This reminds me of something. 🤣
Puccini meravigliosa
Grazie a PUCCINI per primo.
Musica così sarebbero capaci anche a San R............
Capolavoro
Levine was arguably the finest opera conductor of the 20th century. Today, nobody broadcasts his recording for fear of saying his name. Shame on Us!
The only thing missing are the words included by Puccini taken from the Abbe Prevost's novel which appear in the libretto at this point.
“How I love her! My passion is so ardent that I feel I am the most
unhappy creature alive. What have I not tried in Paris to obtain her release!...I have implored the aid of the

La morte c'è anche nell'Intermezzo. Un odore di fiori morti nel cimitero.
Star wars inside at 3:20 !
@lenny2046 True. First time I heard I was like...wow, that's from Star Wars; or, I should say, Star Wars is from Manon Lescaut! I actually thought it was pretty cool.
where does these strong voices come from ?!
exactly the same notes
Puccini rende omaggio a Wagner, straordinario preludio!
Joy unbounded
Pervy McPervface takes the podium
Puccini❤
Lacrime...
Such a shame that this genius of a man was a predatory pedophile...thus, forever tarnishing his image in the annals of music history, Tragic on myriad levels
Genio e sregolatezza.
¡¿STARS WARS?! POBRES FANTASÍAS GRINGAS
Troppo veloce
like a starwars lol
