    Brave he can admit that. All jokes aside the navigation is the very essence that makes this game what it is. If it showed pings, it be too much like everything else. So really thanks for that! It also has helped me with reading maps in real life.

      Yeah definitely, I enjoy trying to figure out where I am after escaping a load of enemies, it makes it more realistic for a start.

      Arma 3 still isn't ready and it's been out for 10 years. Keep your expectations low.

      You will be waiting a while. I’ve been playing arma 3 since beta and am still currently playing. Awesome game extremely slow on development. I think theirs been like 5 call of duty’s that came out since then haha. Not comparing the two, just saying

    I hope AI artillary teams would be a thing(you should be able to give them coordinates and they will fire upon it if they have an artillary unit within range) It should be something like this *Fire on LOCATION*(single accurate round),*Fire Barrage on LOCATION*(5 round Barrage surrouding the location spacified) etc

    Please give me an accurate depiction of howitzers, as well as including them. Mortars are great and all but the use and inclusion pf howitzers could give a more varied an interesting battlefield.

      effective min range of a howitzer is about 3,5 klicks. That requires at least a big enough map to not destroy the immersion by shooting point blank.

      @@chdcris low angle fire missions my dude. Howitzers can shoot within any range that a mortar can, provided that no mountains or other tall obstacles are in the way of the rounds travel route.

      Look at the roadmap. Only mortars will be added but the same system can probably be tweaked for a modded howitzers.

    I'm 100% on board with the dedication to realism in the game. When I saw that you have to hold a compas just to drive down the street, I knew arma has a bright future.

    I hope it's not too complicated, but not too simple. Something like hell let loose would be good for the xbox player base in my opinion because they're really new to simulation games at a scale such as arma.

    There is a fine line between realistic and just making something complicated and boring. In arma 3 the point and click makes sense because it takes place in the future with artillery computers that can do the work for you, in an older setting then yes it makes sense that you have to do it manually. IMO not a big fan of the new medical system because of it, in Arma 3 you are playing as a soldier that has medical training so they know what to do with a first aid kit, in Tarkov you have to use things like splints and tourniquets but at the same time if you shatter your legs you can just drink vodka to walk again, is it more realistic? No it’s just more annoying. Even just the fact that arma 3 has a better stamina and weapon sway function than reforger is already enough to make it way more realistic from the infantry side (I know that it’s all subject to change, but that’s literally a core part of the game) I’m also not just arguing that games need to be easier, I play 3 on veteran without mods, so there is little to no hud, enemies on map or third person

    I really hope you guys don’t half ass manual gun laying in reforger like you ended up doing in A3, the fact that the gunner cockpits don’t use mils, and the gunsights dont account for gun leveling makes direct fires nigh impossible without mods (g*y), firing tables (boring), the artillery computer overlay (high angle fa*gotry), or really ghetto leveling methods (pita). Also, will you include manual fusing? Multicrew guns? Inconsistent/Lot based gun velocities? Counter battery radars/ microphone arrays? Fingers crossed for a good final release.

    Dont worry, the modding community will fix your dumb decision to make artillery needlessly difficult. They already fixed the player markers on the map issue and showing how much ammo you have on you and in your loaded magazine. The modding community is legitimately what's making the game worth playing a lot of the times. Maybe you should listen to them and take a look at what the most downloaded mods are...
    Been playing arma since A2:OA. 1,400 hours on that and 4100~ hours on A3, played A3 since its alpha release. Love the arma series, but you really should listen to your community on this one. If anything, add an option for simplified artillery in difficulty settings.

    Adding Artillery realistically is bad choice and players who do that will suffer. As a matter of fact you already got arty. M203 and GP25. Joke aside. Its not simply a one person job. Not even remotly so simpel like a tank or Gun. From the calculations needed by the player, environment data you need. Air density, wind speeds, Rotation of the earth you have to calculate a shit ton of math and then adjust powder charges added with the time to do it and then have 4 to 7 guy with you at all times loading and firing the gun. The calculations have to be done each time for new coordinates, that needs time. I talk about one arty pice. Now try to coordinate that with multiple units. Its sitting around for 30 mins to shoot 5 rounds or 10. This done by some rnd 16 or 18 year old that cant do proper basic math. yeah good luck arty will be a cluster fuck. Not mention setting up that thing calibrating it.

      I dont think its going to be that in depth. More manually adjusting elevation and azimuth, maybe loading rounds in and choosing a charge.

      @@AFOKHAOS You'd be surprised how complex it is for the average player. I prefer having both options, one for casual play, and another for dedicated groups. But if they can make the manual system more intuitive for casual players, then imo, they should go for it.

      @@etzwei7994 No map info was first seen as complicated for those new to the series but Ive seen a lot of them pick it up easily. I imagine we might eventually see arty computers for server difficulty later.
      Mortars wont be for everyone anyway, even when they were artillery computered, there werent a lot of dedicated users.
      The other thing mortars are hopefully going to bring is the finishing touches to crew served weapons. Such as being able to carry tripods and the weapon itself.

      I think they just need to make mortars like how squad has them. Kind of beat of both worlds may be simple for some but to the noobs it will be hard.

      @@AFOKHAOSmortars in pub Zeus in a3 are largely banned because the artillery computer combined with accurate location information made it too easy to just point and click on targets, I believe that artillery should be difficult, because it’s fun doesn’t come from deleting things from across the map, but knowing your solution to a problem provided an accurate, lethal shot at range.

    The problem you have is that it’s become to convoluted for beginners.
    There’s literally no option for single player.
    I’ve been playing Arma since 2012 and this seems like a step back in terms of usability.
    What would help is to have these options as modules.
    To reduce the amount of variables when learning and allow for some more frustrating game mechanics to be switched off.
    Also having to download 8gb of files just to play a server because the modding community basically carry’s the game is so frustrating I’ve had to uninstall the game.
    I have over 1600 hours in arma 3 and the same in arma 2.
    I’m disappointed tbh
