    when I get what you said about the difference between "thin" and "thing" my mind blown up, completely.
    That was so awesome, I've never realized that difference between back and front, with the tongue sound. I think this lesson is the best one I've watched till now, because it's so simple, but it's so usefull and I would've never realized that by my own.
    Thank you so much keenyn, I love your youtube channel

    • @jandroruiz
      @jandroruiz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Edevaldo, I think you may speak Portuguese (at least Saldanha sounds Portuguese). If so, the ng sound is very easy for you because you make it in the syllables endin in vowel+n or m.

      Sing is the same prounciation of the word "Sim" in Portuguese, which means yes. Very interesting.

    • @ede.saldanha
      @ede.saldanha 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alejandro Ruiz I am from south of Brazil, man. Yeah this is Very easy, but I had never realized the difference

    • @ede.saldanha
      @ede.saldanha 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rogério Chamorro are you Brazilian too, man? Yeah, you're right, this is pretty similar to "sim" in brazilian portuguese, with a little difference in the throat maybe, but I found It exactly equal in portuguese from Portugal, what do you think?

  • @oliveirasahel
    @oliveirasahel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    It's a great video! Brazilian Portuguese don't have NG sound, so It's very hard for Brazilians, like me, to notice the difference between that sound and N sound. Actually, I've even didn't know that sound exists until now. Thanks Keenyn for this video. It's very useful.

    Keenyn, thank you so much and nice to see you again. Wow! what a very useful and helpful lesson to me and probably for many other learners. You are right, I´m one of those many non native speakers that make the common errors you mentioned when pronouncing NG with G sound. Yes indeed, I have to follow your instrucctions and practice a lot to get those sounds improved. The fantastic, neat, clear and beautiful way you covered this lesson really makes it a pleasant and easy task, motivating and encouraging me to do all the repetitions needed. Fabulous tips. I definitely enjoy each of your lessons very much.

    Hi. OMG. Just when I thought I was doing everything right. I keep learning new things. In words like Bank( in my effort to pronounce properly) I was making the sound of N and then the K sound. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I practice this lesson. Now the work Bank is so much easier to pronounce. Leave it to me to make new mistakes LOL.
    Thanks( this one too) lol

  • @Teti_K
    @Teti_K ปีที่แล้ว

    OMG! It's so helpful and so new for me. I learn English 20 years (it's my third language) and I have never had any idea about difference between N and NG sounds 🤦🏽‍♀️
    We say "g" in "sing" not because we release the tongue early but because we don't know how to make difference with "sin"
    But now I know, thank you so much. I am not sure it sounds good when I try to pronounce it, but the knowing of theory means a lot!

  • @keisybertola7731

    I have a question. How can I pronounce singer correctly and not fall into the error of pronouncing siŋ(g)er? I have no problem pronouncing sing or thing correctly, but in singer it is difficult for me because the ɚ sound follows it and it is difficult not to end up producing the g sound in the middle. Help me, please and thank you so much for this video.

    are /m/ - /n/ - /ŋ/ effect on all the vowels before them because they nasal consonants .
    -is the vowel /æ/ in the word (thank /θæŋk/ and bank /bæŋk/ ) changed from æ to /eɪ/ as in day /deɪ/ or ɛ set /sɛt/ .?
    the sound /æ/ without nasal consonants as in bat /bæt/
    Thank you so much.

    When NG or NK comes after a short A or a short I, in my ears, it sounds like a long A or a long E. Example, BANK sounds like BAYNK and THINK, like THEENK. The NG affects the short vowels making them long ones. Although the phonetic transcription doesn't show it in the dictionaries.

    • @ClearEnglishCorner
      @ClearEnglishCorner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES!! Adair Jose you are 100% correct! It has always bugged me that the transcriptions of these types of words do not reflect the actual sounds. Your ears are finely tuned- such a great observation!!
