I've learned English when i was 14 years old. At that time i used to practice every English word like 3 hours to get it right.😄 Wish i could have a teacher like you at that time. Anyway i still have a lot to learn so thank you for your help.😊

It was a struggle "hearing" and pronouncing these two vowels. This video was a great help especially when she goes back and forth between the pair of words.

As a Polish teacher of English, maybe this helps: try to open your mouth is if you want to say AAA, and then try to say EE, while your mouth is still open. For sure it will make you giggle, because noone sounds intelligent while doing that. We laughinly say the word ŻABA, as in the jokes. It helps my students.

Perfect! 😍The best pronunciation video about the short A. The short A is tense, that is, you have to force the jaw muscles while the short E is relaxed. Besides, showing that the AA chances into AY before NG and NK/NC is really important to sound more natural like a native.

Excuse my harping over this sound, but what really gets me is that æ in some cases sounds more like 'e' whilst like 'a' in others. For instance: to elaborate /iˈlæb.ɚ.ət/ = sounds like a in cat, whereas in 'matter ' more like e ''/daɪˈrEk.tɚ/ I know this analogy is a bit off I just dont know how to articulate it. Maybe it is just my hearing which is playing tricks on me. Who knows. But this sound is very flexible.
