    Lionfish are not poisonous, they are venomous. The difference between poison and venom is the method of delivery. Venom must be injected into the bloodstream to cause injury, such as through a sharp spine or fang, but is harmless if drunk or eaten. Poison has to be ingested or absorbed to be harmful; lionfish carry no poison in the edible meat of the fish.

    • @dexm2010
      @dexm2010 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But wouldn't drinking the venom get it into the bloodstream eventually? Does venom just get diluted too much somehow to be dangerous by eating or drinking it? Is that why it must be injected DIRECTLY into the bloodstream in order to be effective?

    • @Jordan-db2og

And that's assuming you already have the open water diving license (~$700). And you can dive only ~30 min per dive (usually less at the depth where lionfish is), but preparing, cleaning up, boat ride, etc all take 2~3 hours.
      Actually, you would at least need Advanced license for the depth where lionfish is, so that's even more expensive. I'm sure there are other licenses for being able to wield the spears and stuff. Diving is a very expensive sport.

    Venomous. Not poisonous.

    They need to attack it from the front. Fish dont know this yet because its a new invasive species. But they are starting to learn from what I see on other youtube videoes. King crabs are invading northern norway in swarms since the russians released theme at Murmask in the 1960s. They belong at the pacific. They kill alot of fish offspring, but we see wolffish, cod and other local fish feeding on them keeping the population down as much as they can, but the killing of the fisheggs and young is still not a good thing. Same is with lionfish

    Venomous, not poisonous. This is an important distinction as poison affects victims via ingestion. Venom must be injected into the bloodstream. Lionfish are great to eat, even raw. Venom can be ingested without consequence. Also this music is terrible and unnecessary.

    What are you killing the lion fish? It makes no sense.

      It is an invasive species in that region, and they are threatening to push out more endangered native species.

    I fail to understand how you can sit here an say that the green moray is a predator on lion fish, when it appears the moray didn't eat the lion fish.. Not a very good predator..

    • @msdaisy6949
      @msdaisy6949 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Admiral54 Barns: thats a pretty immature thing to say. Eels are vicious predators. These fish MUST GO if they can eat all the eel's prey and not get eaten by the eel. That leaves us with JUST lion fish. Not good!

    • @admiral54barns56
      @admiral54barns56 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You obviously cannot understand English. I didn't say the lion fish was a good thing at all. It must be wiped out for sure. What I said was, the Eel did NOT eat the lion fish, so the eel obviously isn't that great of a predator on these fish.

      Admiral54 Barns actually there's no predator on these fish at all... this why they are being hunted by humans... alot of divers tried to teach sharks eels and even octopus to prey on them... but other than that... think about that... he got spines every where and its venomous. its kinda hard for the eel to prey on them

      Well, that was my point yogef tmax. You're right. But the maker of this video put this as the title,
      "Caribbean invasive species, Lion fish and its two main predators: man and moray eels"
      And that was the point. The video maker didn't title it correct. The eel wasn't a good predator. Humans are though.
