Using bands I've actually started to gain strength back and recovered to the point I'm working like 50 hrs + a week . Between straps and different handles etc I think anyone can get a really hard workout in

I haven't viewed the online video, so I cannot speak to the quality of that piece of the set. However, everything else is perfect for what I was looking for. The bands are durable, and the resistance strength varies enough between bands that they're each useful for different exercises and provide a great challenge as you gradually increase the resistance level for certain exercises. The only band I don't use very often is the lowest resistance band, but even that is nice for exercises that target weaker/seldom used muscle groups.
Up until around 35 I used weights a lot but nowadays I have many issues. Labrum tear ✅ frozen shoulder ✅ back fusions ✅ meniscus tear ✅ but I love my bands. Weights just didn’t work for me anymore but the bands have been a great addition. I turned to them after using them in physical therapy. They still build muscle and I use them for “functional strength” rather than forcing myself to stack on plates.
my heart bleeds when I read "functional strength"...if you try to get more functional for your everyday life you're never gonna encounter a situation where the resistance is way harder at the end of the concentric phase and zero at the beginning like it happens with bands they're easier on the body because they're...well easier than weights

If you looked at me you would have no clue I use bands to work out. Those same muscle fibers that were used with free-weights are used with bands, actually more are used since I don’t force the weight so my form is so much better. Now functional to me: being able to clear dead trees and brush from my wooded lot when needed (most times by use of an axe), shoveling (yes shoveling) a 100’ three car driveway from anywhere between 2”-12+” of snow in northern Wi, push mowing a 1/2 acre lot that is on a grade and anything else I have to do around house / property. I had a job where I was exposed to an environment of chaos and fighting when needed but not in a controlled environment hence the injuries that accumulated throughout the decades. Careful of who and what you judge. As we go through life time can have a way of humbling us and it only takes a split second.
I have used resistance bands for years and they provide a good workout. The resistance increases as you stretch and it eliminates the momentum along with giving you more potential angles. I use Bodylastics bands with the attachments and they are actually safer due to the cord that runs through them to prevent snap back. You can also incorporate bands with bodyweight exercises as well.
Bands are legit. I started adding them into my training wondering where I'd be if I started out with them. Great video Brad has toddler energy and it's impressive!
I started using the resistance bands (under your video recommendation) about 7 months into my Long Covid. I hadn't exercised at all because my heart would palpitate and I, in general, hurt so much. It was a non-cardio way to get my body moving, and it really strengthened my muscles. I now have days of feeling much better. Thanks so much.

I'm so happy I came across RB's. I haven't been to a gym in 2 years and I when I did decide to go recently, I only went 3 times in one month so I cancelled the membership because it was always packed when I could go. With RB's I get a good 5 - 10 minutes workout before work in the morning, and a good session after work. I was teaching my wife how to use them last night. Watching my body change with these bands is so motivating for me. My wife is loving my change too 😂😂😂
@Ding Dong really good. I've added calisthenics to the workout as well. The bands are now use to target specific muscles to keep them toned. Also got another set in the office that my coworkers like to use lol.
I bought them in quarantaine. I was always sceptical but they are nice! The big bonus for me is that I can take them with me, e.g. on vacation! Just my thick sport towel to sit on, some bands, old shoes, jump rope and I can exercise on vacation, even at a hotel room (minus the jumping). 10/10 would recommand :)
Stir the Pot has got to be the best core exercise I've seen done with a band. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. The bands from these guys are really great - highly recommend. I'm getting the loops next. Resistance bands are a godsend for this exercise junkie entering her 50s.
I've had 3" flat bands for years ever since a very good PT explained how they are used for therapy. I throw 1 or 2 in the suitcase when traveling and avoid the hotel gym wait and charges. With BANDS & GRAVITY you can accomplish just about any workout routine.
I love my resistance bands. I've been using them for 4 months and in addition to completely changing to a healthy diet, I've lost 40 LBs and am in the best shape of my life and just turned 39 days ago. Just some advice, invest in quality bands with anti snap design and possibly even some sports safety goggles for good measure. I read a few stories about bands snapping and didn't think it could happen to me. I had a barely used band snap and barely miss hitting my eye, I was very lucky. I immediately bought a better quality and more expensive set with anti snap and some goggles just to be safe.
@@thereal366 The brand I ended up buying was called Bodylastics. They were #1 on a couple of lists online and seemed to be highly rated all around. They are MUCH better quality than my old set and the weight amounts listed on the bands also seem to be a lot more accurate. I'm loving them so far.
I used the resistance loops for most of my exercises...and the tight grip required to hold the higher resistance bands injured my elbows. I now have tennis elbow. So use higher resistance ones with caution

Here is a quick & simple solution to using bands that don't quite give you that maximum range of motion you want regardless of your height...all you have to do is tie a simple overhand knot to reduce the slack and you are all set...some bands might require 2 knots to take up enough slack.Works like a charm...and yes resistance bands are the REAL deal...just use them correctly without abusing them. I bought my first set 10 yrs ago & they still work fine, those were from perfect fitness, now trying out Undersun Looped bands & am very impressed.
I've been looking for a way to increase my weights; I use 5 kg. right now & was thinking of ordering more dumbbells however, living in Japan space is SO LIMITED. Also I dropped a dumbbell on my foot once breaking several toes----can't do that with these! And not to mention that at 60, I now have back issues. Thank you so much!!!!
Brady can still play at this level being 44, because he's not getting hit like qbs used to get hit. If you breathe on Brady it's a 15 yard penalty and 1st down. And, the player gets thrown out of the game and fined.
YES! I LOVE working with bands. A bit of 'special sauce' is to resist the rebound of the band rather than just release. Important not to throw away that part of the exercise. It makes the reps twice as effective. And, hey, if Tom Brady endorses them...
How about muscle mass and size. I realize the bands are great for muscle endurance and stabilization. But how about muscle mass? could high resistance from bands add muscle size?
Hello, guys. Thank you for your video. I love resistance bands. But I noticed that the exercises on 7:00 are very harmful for my joints and spine. Loop bands also compress spine. I am glad that the rest of the exercises are not that spine taxing. As we age, any pressure on spine that decreases already diminished intervertebral spaces is very harmful. After doing common band exercises (not from your video) during which I had to stand on the band and pull its ends resulted in pain in cervical or lumbar areas of the spine. I did not have these problems when I was younger.😂 One has to be very careful with choosing band exercises.
I've been lifting weights for ever and I started using bands at work on my breaks. Eventually started doing 3, 20 minute workouts a day at work. (My breaks are only 15 minutes but...) After several months I realized that it turns out that 3 intense 20 minute workouts with bands is just as effective as an intense hour long workout with free weights. So on days I workout at work I didn't even need to do weight training after work, I can just go straight into cardio because I already did resistance training before I ever even clocked out at work.
@@Mongoose-ct6us Yes, you just have to learn how to use them. It's a guy named James Grage on TH-cam that can give you quite a few good pointers. He uses loop bands though and I prefer the bands with the handles, I also have loop bands though. But don't buy his "under sun" loop bands they're way overpriced

I got several different brands I don't think the brand really matters, you can also just go to Amazon and probably find a ton of different brands. Just don't wrap them around something sharp or something that will nick them, also don't leave them on 130° concrete concrete or something like that Some brands, I use to have one but I can't remember what the brand was called but I think they're the ones I got from Dick's have a cord inside the rubber tube so that if it ever snaps it won't pop back on you, the cord will also let you know that you're about to stretch the bands too far so they don't snap in the first place. I've had bands for well over a decade and I've only had 4 that snapped, one was because I was using it home and wrapped it around a square pole that created a pinch point. And in 15 years the other three bands that snapped were all bands that I kept at work where we have no air conditioning and it frequently gets over a hundred and ten degrees in the factory. I also made the mistake of letting this other guy use my band just so he see how they worked and then he uses them for several years when I'm not using them until they eventually snap. I guess he can't figure out how to go to academy sports and buy his own bands. So I would just get some from academy sports, for Dick's sporting goods if you want the kind that have a cord inside the tubing, or Amazon.

Bands, plus kettlebells, are great for non-Herculean ordinary people. Look up James Grage. He got his muscles lifting iron, but he's been keeping them using bands for probably 3-4 years now.
he does sets of 10-15, almost no compound movements (the bands' version of compound movements is very very weak, there's no resistance at the beginning and it's fundamental) and he has that physique, do I need to state the obvious? hehe
@@ddwfw Don't get me wrong, I'm living proof those results aren't possible, or even remotely approachable, for many people -- probably the vast, vast majority. You poin out one weakness, for sure, but it can be overcome to a good degree. Work out the weaker resistance section on its own, after you stretch the band more. Is it ideal? No. There are tradeoffs. The killer is when resistance is so high that there is no sutable counter resistance. Try pressing the band equivalent of 400 lbs. -- not gonna happen very easily. But, 100 lbs.? That's doable. Every tool has its place.
@@ddwfw There is no substitute for lifting really heavy weights -- and a 350 lb. Deadline is heavy! Yeah, Grage is selling-- it is a commercial. And I was clear he made his muscle lifting real weights. I'm not sure he could do that from scratch with bands, all else being equal. But for ordinary people lifting ordinary weights, bands alone can be reasonably effective within their limitations. I have bands, but guess what? I do push ups for my chest as my primary chest workout (with feet on a bucket). I might add in some complementary band work for chest, but push-ups my main exercise. As I get stronger with them, I will likely add a band to my pushups, again, as a complement to the push-ups.
@@pauliescott He says he's been doing exclusively bads for about three to four years. I can't verify. I think I made it clear in my original post that he built that muscle pumping iron. I do think he looks smaller than he did when he was pushing iron, but not by too much. 8s he an enhanced bander? I don't know. I'm not comparing bands and iron, I'm just saying bands can be pretty effective, especially for every day people with relatively ordinary strength. They lose effectiveness as one begins to get really strong, though, so maybe 2-5% of people can really only use them as a complement to their iron pushing and pulling.
Sorry about that. My MIL died because she too refused to use walking/balance aids, fell, sustained a compound fracture in her femur and was dead in a week from pneumonia. It’s all very frustrating to say the least. Any pearls of wisdom for my sibs and me in dealing with this problem? I just bought several of your bands and resistance bands as well as the wall hooks and yes they are the best quality and worth every penny. I am getting my mojo back slowly at 66. I need to get some more of the wall hooks. They are the bomb for using the stretch round bands and for the hanging off the wall. Saves me from having big contraptions to workout when I have no space for the machinery type. I store them right on the hooks when I am done working out...double duty.
I am 63, lately I have been doing squats using my own weight and an exercise ball for back support, push ups, and bands for overhead press, curls, and lateral/front raises. I wish I had a wall to add anchors like yours. I really like the safety features in the newer bands to minimize the risk of the bands breaking and causing an injury. I have always preferred to work out at home. Years ago, I went too far with bench presses and got stuck with no spotter to lift the barbell off my chest. It took a while, but I was able to slide the barbell off without damaging anything. After that I bought a used bowflex, which was fantastic and similar to using bands. It is the older style and is very light weight (not like the newer versions) and very easy to tear down and move around by myself.
I don't fully understand how to work with resistance bands. Bands have a range of resistance for eg 7 to 14 kg. How do I know how much weight am I pulling at any given time? How do I Know that I am pulling the maximum weight at the end of my movement? Also, Is the given range of resistance for a single strand or two strands taken together ? If one strand is 14 Kg then does grabbing two strands make it 14+14= 28 kg? What about looping the band under my feet and grabbing two Strands in each hand? Am I pulling 28+28 =56 Kg now?

Since I've started using bands, my left elbow has started hurting a little bit. Wondering if the free form style that bands offer is allowing me to use bad form.
Before Covid I used to tavel by business 2-3 times per week. Resistance bands allowed me not to care much about gym. Once I had to live in a hotel room having very small amount of free space, but even there I managed to find 1 square meter of space to exercise.
I've got a question about the resistance on the loop bands. Say I'm using a 50lb resistance loop to do pull aparts using just one section of the loop, would that give me the maximum 50lbs of resistance, or would I have to double them up, have two lengths of the same loop in my hands to get the full 50lbs of resistance?

James Grage really popularized bands and has a ton of videos about using them for body building. Tom Brady apparently (allegedly) only uses bands, which is probably why he has lasted so long in the NFL, by limiting the impact on his joints during workouts. As far as I know Hershel Walker never lifted weights or used bands but still built an unreal amount of muscle. Goes to show you can build muscle with whatever you have, including bands if you want.

Do the loops come in different sizes, circumferences? I’m only 5’0” so not sure it will work for me. I previously purchased a bar with the round bands, but it doesn’t work for me. 😕
I always recommend people start doing pull-ups but many can’t do many if any and this is where resistance bands come in. Get you knee in a band and you can get 8-10 good form pull-ups. As you get stronger you start using weaker bands. Eventually you won’t need the bands
Big mistake for older adults. Lifelong gym rat- used to do 25 strict pull-ups- not the CrossFit cheats. Bands are so much safer for old farts. Shoulder issues are significant problems with oldsters that I’ve pushed pull-ups ( or even push ups)
I bought a band set and the heaviest band broke and was too wimpy anyway so I returned it. Got individual 100lb bands (2) and installed wall anchor it's great.

For me, I don’t think resistance work for me because the resistance gets lesser the less stretch the resistance band is. Which makes it inconsistent. Even doing it for rear delt doesn’t feel good. It’s a good tool for conditioning or toning. I’d still recommend weights for building muscle

I've been looking for a way to increase my weights; I use 5 kg. right now & was thinking of ordering more dumbbells however, living in Japan space is SO LIMITED. Also I dropped a dumbbell on my foot once breaking several toes----can't do that with these! And not to mention that at 60, I now have back issues. Thank you so much!!!!

Brady can still play at this level being 44, because he's not getting hit like qbs used to get hit. If you breathe on Brady it's a 15 yard penalty and 1st down. And, the player gets thrown out of the game and fined.
But he'll garner the admiration of all the other players in the league. Gotta be worth it. ;0)

YES! I LOVE working with bands. A bit of 'special sauce' is to resist the rebound of the band rather than just release. Important not to throw away that part of the exercise. It makes the reps twice as effective. And, hey, if Tom Brady endorses them...
How about muscle mass and size. I realize the bands are great for muscle endurance and stabilization. But how about muscle mass? could high resistance from bands add muscle size?
It takes a bit more serious exercises than shown, but yes, it can be done... Look at Goblin's Gym for resources on resistance band training.

Hello, guys. Thank you for your video. I love resistance bands. But I noticed that the exercises on 7:00 are very harmful for my joints and spine. Loop bands also compress spine. I am glad that the rest of the exercises are not that spine taxing. As we age, any pressure on spine that decreases already diminished intervertebral spaces is very harmful. After doing common band exercises (not from your video) during which I had to stand on the band and pull its ends resulted in pain in cervical or lumbar areas of the spine. I did not have these problems when I was younger.😂 One has to be very careful with choosing band exercises.
I've been lifting weights for ever and I started using bands at work on my breaks.
Eventually started doing 3, 20 minute workouts a day at work. (My breaks are only 15 minutes but...)
After several months I realized that it turns out that 3 intense 20 minute workouts with bands is just as effective as an intense hour long workout with free weights.
So on days I workout at work I didn't even need to do weight training after work, I can just go straight into cardio because I already did resistance training before I ever even clocked out at work.
Did the bands keep you as strong as weights? Thanks in advance

It's a guy named James Grage on TH-cam that can give you quite a few good pointers.
He uses loop bands though and I prefer the bands with the handles, I also have loop bands though.
But don't buy his "under sun" loop bands they're way overpriced

I got several different brands I don't think the brand really matters, you can also just go to Amazon and probably find a ton of different brands.
Just don't wrap them around something sharp or something that will nick them, also don't leave them on 130° concrete concrete or something like that
Some brands, I use to have one but I can't remember what the brand was called but I think they're the ones I got from Dick's have a cord inside the rubber tube so that if it ever snaps it won't pop back on you, the cord will also let you know that you're about to stretch the bands too far so they don't snap in the first place.
I've had bands for well over a decade and I've only had 4 that snapped, one was because I was using it home and wrapped it around a square pole that created a pinch point.
And in 15 years the other three bands that snapped were all bands that I kept at work where we have no air conditioning and it frequently gets over a hundred and ten degrees in the factory.
I also made the mistake of letting this other guy use my band just so he see how they worked and then he uses them for several years when I'm not using them until they eventually snap.
I guess he can't figure out how to go to academy sports and buy his own bands.
So I would just get some from academy sports, for Dick's sporting goods if you want the kind that have a cord inside the tubing, or Amazon.

Bands, plus kettlebells, are great for non-Herculean ordinary people. Look up James Grage. He got his muscles lifting iron, but he's been keeping them using bands for probably 3-4 years now.
he does sets of 10-15, almost no compound movements (the bands' version of compound movements is very very weak, there's no resistance at the beginning and it's fundamental) and he has that physique, do I need to state the obvious? hehe
@@ddwfw Don't get me wrong, I'm living proof those results aren't possible, or even remotely approachable, for many people -- probably the vast, vast majority. You poin out one weakness, for sure, but it can be overcome to a good degree. Work out the weaker resistance section on its own, after you stretch the band more. Is it ideal? No. There are tradeoffs. The killer is when resistance is so high that there is no sutable counter resistance. Try pressing the band equivalent of 400 lbs. -- not gonna happen very easily. But, 100 lbs.? That's doable.
Every tool has its place.
@@ddwfw There is no substitute for lifting really heavy weights -- and a 350 lb. Deadline is heavy! Yeah, Grage is selling-- it is a commercial. And I was clear he made his muscle lifting real weights. I'm not sure he could do that from scratch with bands, all else being equal. But for ordinary people lifting ordinary weights, bands alone can be reasonably effective within their limitations. I have bands, but guess what? I do push ups for my chest as my primary chest workout (with feet on a bucket). I might add in some complementary band work for chest, but push-ups my main exercise. As I get stronger with them, I will likely add a band to my pushups, again, as a complement to the push-ups.
James Grage is great resource for band training but let's be honest...
He is a weight trainer.
You cannot look like James without weight training.
@@pauliescott He says he's been doing exclusively bads for about three to four years. I can't verify. I think I made it clear in my original post that he built that muscle pumping iron. I do think he looks smaller than he did when he was pushing iron, but not by too much. 8s he an enhanced bander? I don't know. I'm not comparing bands and iron, I'm just saying bands can be pretty effective, especially for every day people with relatively ordinary strength. They lose effectiveness as one begins to get really strong, though, so maybe 2-5% of people can really only use them as a complement to their iron pushing and pulling.
You can also loop the bands over a section of pipe (steel, aluminum, ABS, PVC, conduit, etc.)

Sorry about that. My MIL died because she too refused to use walking/balance aids, fell, sustained a compound fracture in her femur and was dead in a week from pneumonia. It’s all very frustrating to say the least. Any pearls of wisdom for my sibs and me in dealing with this problem? I just bought several of your bands and resistance bands as well as the wall hooks and yes they are the best quality and worth every penny.
I am getting my mojo back slowly at 66. I need to get some more of the wall hooks. They are the bomb for using the stretch round bands and for the hanging off the wall. Saves me from having big contraptions to workout when I have no space for the machinery type. I store them right on the hooks when I am done working out...double duty.

I am 63, lately I have been doing squats using my own weight and an exercise ball for back support, push ups, and bands for overhead press, curls, and lateral/front raises. I wish I had a wall to add anchors like yours. I really like the safety features in the newer bands to minimize the risk of the bands breaking and causing an injury.
I have always preferred to work out at home. Years ago, I went too far with bench presses and got stuck with no spotter to lift the barbell off my chest. It took a while, but I was able to slide the barbell off without damaging anything. After that I bought a used bowflex, which was fantastic and similar to using bands. It is the older style and is very light weight (not like the newer versions) and very easy to tear down and move around by myself.
I didn’t have wall space with a stud so my husband put the wall mounts in the door frame. Works great.

I don't fully understand how to work with resistance bands. Bands have a range of resistance for eg 7 to 14 kg. How do I know how much weight am I pulling at any given time? How do I Know that I am pulling the maximum weight at the end of my movement?
Also, Is the given range of resistance for a single strand or two strands taken together ? If one strand is 14 Kg then does grabbing two strands make it 14+14= 28 kg? What about looping the band under my feet and grabbing two Strands in each hand? Am I pulling 28+28 =56 Kg now?
Where do I get the wall anchors?
If you go to Bob and brad you get four anchors. On Amazon for the same price you get 3.

I just love you guys! I recently turned 71 and have been into health and fitness my entire life. I've watched all sorts of experts but you two are my favorite. Since I've started using bands, my left elbow has started hurting a little bit. Wondering if the free form style that bands offer is allowing me to use bad form.

Before Covid I used to tavel by business 2-3 times per week. Resistance bands allowed me not to care much about gym.
Once I had to live in a hotel room having very small amount of free space, but even there I managed to find 1 square meter of space to exercise.

I've got a question about the resistance on the loop bands. Say I'm using a 50lb resistance loop to do pull aparts using just one section of the loop, would that give me the maximum 50lbs of resistance, or would I have to double them up, have two lengths of the same loop in my hands to get the full 50lbs of resistance?
Think about combining wall anchors, resistance bands, and a vibration plate. I am just finishing up an area that will let me do that.

James Grage really popularized bands and has a ton of videos about using them for body building. Tom Brady apparently (allegedly) only uses bands, which is probably why he has lasted so long in the NFL, by limiting the impact on his joints during workouts. As far as I know Hershel Walker never lifted weights or used bands but still built an unreal amount of muscle. Goes to show you can build muscle with whatever you have, including bands if you want.

Do the loops come in different sizes, circumferences? I’m only 5’0” so not sure it will work for me. I previously purchased a bar with the round bands, but it doesn’t work for me. 😕
I always recommend people start doing pull-ups but many can’t do many if any and this is where resistance bands come in. Get you knee in a band and you can get 8-10 good form pull-ups. As you get stronger you start using weaker bands. Eventually you won’t need the bands
Big mistake for older adults. Lifelong gym rat- used to do 25 strict pull-ups- not the CrossFit cheats. Bands are so much safer for old farts. Shoulder issues are significant problems with oldsters that I’ve pushed pull-ups ( or even push ups)

I pump out muscles through time under tension with resistant bands in a way that can’t be done with traditional weights.
I bought a band set and the heaviest band broke and was too wimpy anyway so I returned it. Got individual 100lb bands (2) and installed wall anchor it's great.

For me, I don’t think resistance work for me because the resistance gets lesser the less stretch the resistance band is. Which makes it inconsistent. Even doing it for rear delt doesn’t feel good. It’s a good tool for conditioning or toning. I’d still recommend weights for building muscle
