Eminem asked Craig G to write the raps and coach his opponents in the battles, the actors, but Em didn't know what they would say before hand, he wanted it to. be. as genuine as possible. He might have researched them and written a few punches but he freestyled a lot to make more real and visceral for the movie

8 Mile was Anthony Mackie's first movie. Think about that- your first movie, and Em comes in and drops real-world truthful sh*t about you in the ending rap, unbeknownst to YOU?!? 😂😂 Good stuff!!!
Eminem low key has a talent for film/production. He could’ve dipped his toes in a lot more like 50 and went that route but instead kept it rap. Gotta respect it

He was originally going to be the lead in "Southpaw" it was going to be like a sequel to "8 Mile" but he had to back out of it so they ended up getting Jake Gyllenhaal.
Anthony Mackie was raised in a good area by his married mother and father, who owned his own business, and went to (and graduated from) prestigious, private schools most of his life, including Juilliard. His brother is even a professor of engineering at Tulane. The fact that Em pulled from Macks stable upbringing and home life, privileged, private education and real background to use it against him in a diss to the character he was portraying is borderline genius. That look on Mackie’s face when he says that is a genuine look of “MFer, Really?”, which cracks me up every time. 😂

The end of the film is awesome because despite overcoming his greatest adversary (not just papa Doc but his nerves too) he just goes back to work after. No contract. No deals. No future. Just B Rabbit. And RIP Brittany Murphy
Another thing that makes it even more 🔥 for me, is that Em literally does that exact same thing in his beef with people! Look at Killshot or The Warning, he uses his own faults and turns it into ammunition, and the other party is left.... Speechless in a way!
When i hear people say Eminem doesn't have showmanship and couldn't hold his own in todays Battlerap scene just need take a look at his performance in this movie, Yes its acting but the guy uses every tool available to make it feel like you are within the crowd. The guy is multitalented far beyond what he gives himself credit, If all his passion wasn't focused in HipHop the dude could be out giving lectures on writing poetry, art classes on drawing comics, seminars on how to progress through life and even starred in more movies along his way. Obviously the fame stops him having a normal life but if he wanted to attend many events as a guest speaker or teach a class he would have good wisdom to share. Marshall is humble but he has harnessed far more skills and knowledge than he gives himself credit for. Dude is a beast, a true rags to riches story with all the lows and highs life can throw at you along the way.
Did you see the energy he had when he was on the battle rap scene. Was all over the crowd. Get a clean cloth, and wipe this bloody video screen off (proceeds to wide the camera lense with his sleeve)
What's cool is that parking lot freestyle where em says "as I proceed to cook and grill ya thats all I took to kill ya, you better recognize me like I look familiar" ....I've actually heard him use that "recognize me like I look familiar" line in a real life battle ....the rap Olympics he uses that bar
Vanilla Ice was and is wayyy better! Lmao jk. No one gonna debate you. There's some excellent lyricists out there for sure. But Em has owned the lyrical game for literally decades. He doesn't care about club bangers. Hope he keeps at it til his last days. He's gotten me through tough times in my life tbh. Pretty much every other high level rapper always says "don't mess with the white boy" lol. 100% genius, genuine, raw, unfiltered, no repetitive bs and unlike any other. A man that literally read and studied the dictionary daily coming up with raps... come on... pure dedication and not to be f'd with lol. Forever and always the B-Rabbit Billy GOAT!

Em is a phenomenal actor very raw I’m gutted he didn’t take the offer to be southpaw but I respect his passion to hiphop. He looked hot af in 8 mile too ❤😂
Man I was so obsessed with 8mile I watched it over and over. Eminem was so hot. I loved the Superman music video on the bonus features DVD. I see x for sure but I think 50cent is who you look like the most. 💯
I was the same Megan over here in England! That dvd of 8 mile had it all the extra rap battles n that superman video “superman ain’t saving shit girl u can jump on shady’s dick” “input anthrax on your tampax n slap u till u can’t stand” 😂😂😂 But even now i still watch the rap battles constantly n specially the final one v papa doc n that beat is 🔥 Em 👉 🐐
Now people gotta realize that one, Em was still learning and spittin' each day he could. Its not like he will always win battles. That's not the point. His craft grew over time. If he didn't improve, would a movie even exist after that? It's hip hop after all and well Em don't play. This was his dream. So even when he loses, he keeps going. People make it seem like he will never lose or that his skills are maxed out when really, Em just loves the sport of it all. At least Stevie you get it 😂
Most people would get some fame, get rich, and coast...Em never felt he won yet...so he is still in battle mode! Lucky us. I just hope he truly knows how much his family LOVE him, not just. As an artist but a human too.
So glad you revisited the Marv interview w Math and the deleted scene, back to back,it adds more context to it😁Think Em might have added a few lines for the actors, but mostly were written by Craig G😊

Same here. I used to listen to the BET countdown when I was young and started listening rap. Then one day I saw this white guy and thought "there's a white guy on BET??" Me, being white, I was like I didn't even know white people rapped. It was Forgot About Dre. After that I started finding all the Eminem songs I could and was hooked.

Haters of Eminem just don't know these details. Have you noticed most Em haters come from AFTER 8 mile. I've been with his music since the SSLP. There will never be another Eminem. Black or White. He's just different! Great video Stevie as always 🙏🍻

Everything was written. Only thing not written were the extra freestyle battles in the deleted scenes. Since eminem was losing his voice, the extra battles were going to be as a montage w no noise so they let the rappers sat whatever they wanted. That's were eminem wasn't having it and turned on his mic. They explain this in the 8 mile behind the scenes.
This was a nice trip down memory lane. I really enjoy your content, no matter what it is! You should do some more like this. There’s “Straight outta Compton”, “New Edition”, “All eyes on me”, “Notorious”, just to name a few. You might be on to something. Thank you for delivering great content!
I feel like Eminem was a brilliant kid put in a really shitty situation. So instead of being traditionally school smart, he took it a different direction and went with what his situation allowed. it paid off for him.
When Eminem said something about Papdog being scare and shook and scared to look in his yearbook is the same as when Kendrick said Drake is scared to look in the mirror when Kendrick is near ya at the BET cyphers

The extra stuff (cut scenes) we’re all supposedly off the top. They had needed extra scenes in case and let the extras write their own raps. They explain it on the movie extras I believe.
I heard that he wrote for everyone. After hearing papa dcs interview on here he said some of the rappers in the beginning battles but i heard he wrote all the ending battles and before that he was str8 freestylin in the beginning battles.... I want that chick tho in the beginning battles. So fine
Stevie , I comment as I watch your reactions haha. I said at the start, Eminem write the verses. And I’m at the point now where yuh are asking if Eminem wrote the verses 😆 that’s awesome
Em went crazy on this with movie/life entendres, Knight said he can’t believe Anthony is a gangster and that’s what Em exposed in the battle about his character, at the same time Mackie is playing a character that he isn’t like but had to pretend to be in order to get on like Papa Doc
Yo, originally you said that Em lost to Marv One! FOH!!!! Lol. What changed between your first reaction of 8 Mile until now? Em fucking SMOKED that fool.
I remember seeing the interview with Marv, and he was talking about how he was at the hip hop shop or somewhere just watching the shit, and got pissed, he was like "i'm here and no ones gonna call me out?" and dudes were like are you fucking crazy? do you know who you are? shit was hilarious
25:00 Stevie definitely meant that "bitch". Em is so goated that his movie character made Stevie hate a fictional rapper who he just learned is played by a well-mannered gentleman who loves Em. LOL!
Tbh, if a person is strong enough, EM's strategy is a great one for dealing with bullies... take every crap thing they have to say, say it first then dare them to come up with new material.
he won with a written verse against off-the-top raps from a rapper who have been shooting and battling the whole day. it's like saying you won against the best boxer after the boxer has been fighting 10 other boxers nonstop while being on diet.
Bruh those bars from Em were so 🔥 from that battle 😂 Especially that one first verse when he was pretending the mic wasn't working. Eminem is the goat!
Bro I have the movie and have watched the last battle more times than I can remember and I love it even more that I know he googled his personal life and I think creative as hell. That’s why he’s great. I don’t think I could have stayed in character getting snuck with that without warning.
ELIM where I come from means knowledge, “I bring elimination with subordination of the mic and my inhalation, no retaliation can take what I brought to humiliation, I shoot bullets for fun, I own the gun, I suicide when I aim at the sun, I do you die like you never begun, you never knew pun, my bars are high your bars are none, I slay and I’m sly, this game I run, your time is done, go on and sign your resignation”. But let’s give them more chances.
Eminem asked Craig G to write the raps and coach his opponents in the battles, the actors, but Em didn't know what they would say before hand, he wanted it to. be. as genuine as possible. He might have researched them and written a few punches but he freestyled a lot to make more real and visceral for the movie

Eminem posted the full unedited version of Jerome Kapp85 doing the final 8 Mile battle, brought me back to this video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember seeing the interview with Marv, and he was talking about how he was at the hip hop shop or somewhere just watching the shit, and got pissed, he was like "i'm here and no ones gonna call me out?" and dudes were like are you fucking crazy? do you know who you are? shit was hilarious
Eminem write whole raps in the film . So easy for em
Cheddar bob gave him the concept for that last battle, when he asked rabbit if he's not worried about what free world was saying
Dope video Xzibit!
Stevie, you HAVE to react to “Good Die Young” by D12.. I promise you will LOVE this song, it’s truly deep and tells an entire story!
Im a huge D12 fan and that song does hit me in the feels more than most. Kinda like the How come track
let's be honest Em didn't have to do anything most of his career he could've stopped after 3 albums and lived comfortably maybe 2
Since you mentioned Michael Jai White, it'd be great to see you two side by side 🤭
KEEP IT UP STEVIE
Bonus scene battles are 🔥
25:00 Stevie definitely meant that "bitch".
Em the Mike Tyson Of Rap.
Bro Anthony Mackie is so different in real life than Papa Doc 😂 like polar opposites lol
EM is EM!The GOAT!Case closed!🙌🙌
Aye can we see a picture of them braids 😅
This my favorite movie lol this and straight outta Compton
Yup!! We gotta see it. "What up, X?!" 😂 😂 😂
fun fact XZIBIT is actually from Detroit but didnt grow up here so its cool to see him in this movie
Xzibit from New Mexico lol
Loving this cheers 🍻
he won with a written verse against off-the-top raps from a rapper who have been shooting and battling the whole day. it's like saying you won against the best boxer after the boxer has been fighting 10 other boxers nonstop while being on diet.
Bruh those bars from Em were so 🔥 from that battle 😂
Especially that one first verse when he was pretending the mic wasn't working. Eminem is the goat!
Bro I have the movie and have watched the last battle more times than I can remember and I love it even more that I know he googled his personal life and I think creative as hell. That’s why he’s great. I don’t think I could have stayed in character getting snuck with that without warning.
313!! FUCK FREE WORLD!! LOVE THAT PART
The X-zibit one is hilarious, "you look like a pissed off rapper who never made it" HAHAHAH
Uncle Stevie knows what's up
Hahahah oh shit I can't unsee the Xzibit now hahahha 😂😂😂
8 Mile is a really good remake of Purple Rain
ELIM where I come from means knowledge, “I bring elimination with subordination of the mic and my inhalation, no retaliation can take what I brought to humiliation, I shoot bullets for fun, I own the gun, I suicide when I aim at the sun, I do you die like you never begun, you never knew pun, my bars are high your bars are none, I slay and I’m sly, this game I run, your time is done, go on and sign your resignation”. But let’s give them more chances.
عِلْمْ ELIM
Just to make sure y’all get the whole knowledge because I can and I want and I love to 🌚
Yeah you can write it ELM , ELIM that’s it. 🌚
Sorry bro for what I’m about to do
I’m ill 🌚
