    Question as I’m doing this to mine this weekend. Would I be ok just using the cam phaser lock on the left side as my issue is on the right side or would I need to use all the locking tools on the left side as well thanks

      I’m not for sure if I understand your question correctly, but you just use it on the side that you’re working on at the time.

    When I go to the junkyard to find camshafts do they need to be from a 3.6L Journey or can I use one's from Jeep & Town Country 3.6L engines?

      Any vehicle that has the Pentastar 3.6 L should work just fine to replace your camshaft.

    Any idea why the timing chain tool is so difficult to engage the tensioner on the left side or nearest the fire wall ?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, it been sidemounted in some of the vehicles like the Dodge Journey makes it more difficult to get to. I myself had to modify the tool that fits in between the phaser sensors and cut it in half so that it could fit in and wedge in where it supposed to. Also you wanna make sure that you have released attention with the tool that they supply you with the timing chain. Sometimes you will need to move the links and lined them up to the wedge to just barely into accomplish this you can slightly move the crankshaft if you need to, but in the end, make sure that the arrows are lined up like they’re supposed to doing those two things should give you a little wiggle room to fit the wedge in better. Also it is sometimes hard to find an exact low profile socket to fit on the side mounted engines too, but I believe I left a link to where you can buy them and they’re not too expensive. so hopefully a few of those ideas will help you my friend. It is not impossible to do. It’s just a pain in the butt. Sometimes they manufacture the cars and sometimes you have to modify the tools or do simple little tricks to get the tools to fit for that particular car.

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tensioner can get stuck sometimes and you just have to keep working with it.

      @@Mr_Goody the bolt is in the tool grove I’m not exactly sure where the tool should be making contact the bracket on the tensioner to release it. Was told I didn’t need the hook wire tool on the fire wall side so I’m just poking around like I had never done this before thanks for any suggestions and thank you for posting

    • @MikeLJ-ku7ov
      @MikeLJ-ku7ov 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Does the tool simply hold the chain but not loosen it ? If so I might be good thanks for the help I can’t make a stupid mistake

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MikeLJ-ku7ov it should loosen it also. It provides some slack in the chain when it releases it, and then it allows the wedge to fit in between the camp phasers easier, and then if you need to adjust the campers, you can slightly move the crankshaft to line up with the wedge.

    Hello, so i replaced the rockers and lifters on rear bank and replaced right intake cam. While the valve cover was still off, I rotated the crank 360° to make sure everything rolled good, i proceeded until the horizontal line on phasers lined up and when i did I noticed the timing chain markings i made were no longer lined up. Is that supposed to happened?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the right cylinder? Head closest to the back of the engine? The paint marks should line up. Remember on the front of the engine on the front head the arrows will point toward each other, and on the back they will point away from each other. I hope that makes sense to you, but to answer your question the paint marks should line up.

    I have a question about the rocker arm and Hydraulic tappet
    I changed both and sometimes he still makes the same noises befor i changed it at the same position
    When it is cold, it makes no noise and runs very quietly and well and when it is warm, the noise sometimes comes for 10 seconds and then disappears again

    can you help me? 😅😁

      There is a lot of 3-D print made of these and honestly it just depends from different sellers. I’ve had no problem with them fitting right on and then with others. I had a little bit of problem and had to wiggle them on a little bit. I hope that answers your question. And I think for this particular vehicle I might have had to cut the back one, so it would clear the frame. Just check in the video.

My next question is the front bank(Leftside) is fine no damaged camshaft or rocker arms, just the back bank(Rightside)Has damaged cam/rockers, to get those cams off do I have to do anything to the front bank besides having arrows lined up and rotating camshaft 30° to get lobes of arms?

      I would say in parts you’re looking at about $400 and the rest would just be your own labor if you do it yourself. But if you take it to Garage, it’s gonna be a lot more and it just varies and white Garage I’ve seen it cost from 1.5 K to well over $2000..

    The question to me is why Stelantis can't make this engine more reliable? They put this engine in a lot of their vehicles so why can't they engineer the engine better. Consumers do want to buy unreliable vehicles.

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you 100%. I believe during the last three years that they made these vehicles they were pretty reliable. They changed and revised the parts as they went along and had a pretty good dependable car near the end but what they should’ve done is the go back and fix the cars that they knew was going to have problems instead of Letting the people pay for repairs and being guinea pigs. It’s very unfortunate.
