    Hello, and thank you for this interesting video. I am in the UK, and sowed my snapdragons, overwintering on a windowsill inside. I have pinched them out a few times, at one point tiny flower buds were appearing. My question is, can you pinch a plant out too often, and would this effect the flowering? Thank you

    • @BareMtnFarm
      @BareMtnFarm  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once the plant starts showing signs of producing flowers its moved from the vegetative stage to the reproductive stage. Usually on a true annual that's not necessarily reversible by pinching. However, Snaps can almost be grown as soft perennial in the right warm environment, sort of like a mum. We did an experiment once to see if we could get snaps in our tunnel that had bloomed in Sept/Oct and then cut down to about 3" after bloom could be overwintered for a following Spring bloom. It did work, but the bloom quantity and quality of stem were poor. OK for a garden but not for a market. I have never pinched snaps multiple times to delay field planting, but I wonder if the results might be similar to our experiment. Give it a try but I'd plan a backup planting just in case.

      Thank you. I will see how these develop, the plants look so stong. I love lots of blooms so will be sowing seeds now as a back up@@BareMtnFarm

    I grew the Chantilly this year. I didn't care for how fragile the petals are.

      I do believe the Chantilly's we grew several years ago were more vigorous plants than what we seem to get today.
