- My Scariest Cat Rescue - I was so scared of what I would find. I was called to a house, in which the owner had died weeks prior. His cats had been locked inside with no food or water. I took a deep breath before entering.

How could this poor man have been so utterly neglected? His last years must have been ghastly. The cats were his only friends.
Amen to that because that the only friend I have is a cat 🐈
I don’t mind befriending nobody but cats.

This is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. The terrible condition of the house shows how a lonely old man was abandoned by everyone -- yet dozens of empty cat food containers show that he tried his best to provide for his kitties, until he died, without a single human friend. And still, along came a wonderful rescuer who saved his kitty friends, and brought them back to the good health, love and care that he would have wanted for them! 😢😿💞
Bitter sweet
I could tell the old man cared for his cats because they weren't truly feral and they mourned him. Also, as a pet owner, I can see he bought top brand cat food. They ate better than my kitties who are stuck with me on a budget.
WE all need to check in on our elderly neighbors and save the judgement for GOD to do. In the end, I am very happy that all the kitties were saved!
As an 80 year old lady all on her own in a remote place with 5 rescue cats/.. what judgment? I am happy as I am ... Being old is not to be pitied and most of us value our privacy and freedom ... and I am sure there will be more furry dinner guests and bedfellows along soon! I do not want checking on and am capable of using the phone,, rarely do as I have email Only one being patronising and judgmental is you...

How could his family and social services neglect that poor man like this!? Dementia was obviously diagnosed so he should have been cared for!!! Poor soul
Many elderly have no family nearby or ones that care.
That bucket of water would have saved their lives, not a doubt. Thank God it was there for them.

This disaster area is very sad. Dementia is real. We all need to look after the sick and elderly. I feel bad for the cats. This was under terrible circumstances. Glad the cats were rescued.🙂🙂
It was an awful situation. The poor man managed the best he could, looking after himself and the cats. I hope he is looking down, pleased with the fact his cats are safe ♥
This looks more like 'hoarding' than dementia.

How horrible though that the original rescuers never left food and water for the rest of them. :(

So sad he slowly died from dementia. Dementia and alzheimers are the most heartbreaking things a family member can watch happen. Wish he had people to comfort him, and be with him in his last years. At least he had his kitties, even though they werent treated right. Thats all he had. 😞❤

Please people. If you have an elderly parents/neighbors etc who has dementia and also own pets, please, please pay attention. Those poor animals might not being fed properly. Sadly, this is not a rare case.

I stumbled across a colony of strays which I learned is an area notorious for people dumping pets. I started feeding and socializing them, and was able to hand over 11 of them to a local rescue before fosters filled up due to kitten season. I’ve gone there every night for over 3 months now. I can pet 3 out of the 6 remaining adults, but it’s getting colder every night. It takes hours of time nightly, and it’s expensive. So I’m trying to hold onto hope, and I’ve refused to abandon them. This video made me so happy to know there are other people caring so deeply for cats. I’m praying for a miracle at this point. There’s something special about this colony. They are all so sweet. Thank you for posting this and helping me hold on to that hope ❤

You're doing a wonderful job caring for those lovely little cats Nancy. It's amazing that you've also managed to get 11 of them fostered through a cat rescue. It's heartbreaking to know some cruel, thoughtless people still dump cats once they get a bit older and are no longer kittens. I'll never understand how anyone could do that. The remaining 6 cats are obviously learning to trust you and that's a very positive sign. Though it would be very expensive supplying all their food, treats, etc. Perhaps local animal rescues and shelters could assist you with some of the food costs? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with everything and I hope the cats find good homes soon. ☮️🇦🇺
Thank you for helping the cats Nancy. Can you use the cat trap cages they use for CNR (catch neuter release) so you could catch them within a couple of nights?
@@sry8895Good idea, but then you have to be set up to house them or have experienced fosters ready to take them. It's really difficult. I'm working with a group of volunteers in my town on a municipal CNR project, but we have not yet been able to get to the "M" part (Maintain). CNR will reduce the numbers of cats but at some point we will need to figure out how to maintain those that are released.

My father died of dementia so I know what it does to a person. God bless you for your kindness in both saving these cats and for giving them back their confidence. We have 5 ourselves and they are our babies. ❤

This story is both heartbreaking AND heartwarming at the same time. It's sad that poor man with dementia died all alone! People need to look out for elderly, mentally ill, and otherwise vulnerable neighbors. But God bless this woman for rescuing those cats. Such a bittersweet story!

It is sad that the neighbours were not paying attention to the elderly man and his many cats. It is a sign of the times I am afraid. So happy that all cats ended up being rescue and none died after such a long time without food. The water sustained them no doubt. Thankyou for the wonderful work and rehoming them.

You are truly a precious GEM in helping these helpless furbabes and giving them new homes where they're loved. It's sad that their former 'guardian' passed away so suddenly & it would appear that he may be all alone. It happened a decade + ago in our old mountain town - the lady in her 30s, lived alone with Bengal cats that she was breeding. Where we were, homes were sparsely scattered throughout the region & no one knew of her untimely demise until a visitor noticed her 2 dogs were out roaming. It was too late when animal welfare officers / local cat rescue responded. Most died from thirst and lack of food. Perhaps one or two survived & were nursed back to health by the cat rescuers.
Poor lady and so young. Were her cats OK? ❤
The cats in this instance survived because of a leaking pipe. At least they had water.
That's so sad the man and then the cats were forgotten and alone. Breaks my heart hearing of people dying alone and others not knowing until later. I can't imagine what that would be like having dementia too and just being forgotten by the world outside. I'm glad you were able to find these darlings.
Animals are sensitive, emotional, and intelligent beings who deserve dignity and respect.

Dementia is very sad. I have seen too often, once people aren’t recognized, family and friends no longer visit.
Heartbreaking for the man and for the cats. How could neighbours not go in to make sure he and his animals were ok. How very, very sad the whole situation was. Thank you for rescuing the cats, all gorgeous and cookie was so sweet, glad they all found loving homes.

It is disgraceful how these poor people are left to fend for themselves with dementia my Mother had it and I looked after her for the last four years and it is a twenty four seven job, the fact that the owner had five cats to literally look after themselves as well is heart wrenching. Where were the doctors and social worker's who knew about this person, I get so mad when I here of these situations were no one cares, I thank you Tiffany for giving back the owners cat's lives as they would of wanted, Bless you for that.❤

I'm working with dementia patients in long term care and hearing that opener broke my heart. I am doing this job to save up for college tuition so I can work with animals, but to think both could have been rescued. It hurts so much, the poor man passing away all alone surrounded by his only friends, unable to care for himself in the right frame of mind, and those poor cats watching it happen and just.... I love my residents so much. Many workers complain about the attitude and such but I don't mind, it's who they are, it's how they are. They're still people at the end of the day and deserve that care. Thank you for caring for these cats. My two babies are my world, they are so ciddly and they keep me calm in a turbulent whirlwind of daily emotions from work.
You sound like you were made for the care profession whether humans or animals. Dementia patients particularly need understanding carers. Good luck to you ❤
This story made me cry. The owner must have loved cats but then got this dementia. It is sad that unfortunately no one noticed the poor cats. Tiffany, you were brave and did great. And were smart to find and carefully trap them. I wonder if someone knowing they were left, put out a bag of food. I am amazed that the cats coats were still in good condition.
Cookie was dirty and the very young kitten hadn't been grooming but the others weren't too bad. Cats groom to comfort themselves and they had the time to do this while locked in. Apart from Cookie, they were all young as well ♥
Maybe because they had water.

I lost my cat last year, died at 15 years. I found him when he was 4 months old, or more like he found me, he ran up too me in the street and stopped me walking meowing loudly! I took him and that was that. It's still a little hard for me to watch videos of cats being neglected and hurt emotionally and physically. Of this made me cry and so happy you exist Tiffany
