My dad questioned people after they used ketamine during serious medical operations.. he said it was traumatic as fuck as they screamed and experienced what had to be the worst moments of their lives and what did they say afterwards...?! That it was amazing...
Surely it gives a false sense..

i have used ketamine therapy over the last 6 months not only has it helped my depression that was untreatable till now. i also am a methadone patient i have detoxed from 220mg daily to 10mg as of 3 days ago and hopefully completely off by Christmas. ketamine has allowed me to detox with little to no withdrawals. completely saving my life.

How long did it take for the depression to improve? I've been doing it twice a week for a month and so far I only feel better on day of the treatment. After that I go back to depressed except I have less brain fog now. I think they're going to increase my dose soon, but also cut back to only once per week. I'm getting worried it's not going to work.

I just had my second ketamine treatment today for ptsd, anxiety & depression. I have spent 23 years using spiritual healing and lifestyle strategies to combat the affects of traumatic events and anxiety disorders. I have never heard of it before but when my psychiatrist recommended it, I was willing to try it. It is working in a way I’ve never experienced before.

I am a pain patient who also had significant childhood trauma. I put my headphones on, played a 4 hour guided meditation with positive affirmations while having treatment. The benefit of being able to turn inward using ketamine has been an unexpected side effect. I become the music and meditation I was listening to and etched acceptance and positivity into my core being. I’d love to share my experience.

This is by far my favourite video from you. I’m a therapist and have had ten ketamine infusions to date. It’s been incredible at helping me to gain momentum out of my suffering.
Only downside it it’s so expensive. Especially over here in the UK where we have to pay for it privately. I hope one day this can be accessible for all as it’s so effective and user friendly.

I’ve had 10 ketamine sessions and only had a moderate improvement, no breakthrough moments or epiphanies about life. I may need to try a different modality to lift my depression and complex PTSD. I have been getting intramuscular injections. The program was twice a week for 4 weeks, then weekly for 4 weeks, then twice a month eventually tapering off at 20 sessions. But I did a total of 12 sessions with modest improvement and an empty bank account. I paid $500 per session which is very expensive. I won’t be going back to this doctor after this month. I wonder if some of these places aren’t just looking to profit off of others suffering.

    • @HappyCat1111
      @HappyCat1111 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

I’m looking into doing exactly that. Besides K, I go to a therapist, meditate daily, and started volunteering once a week just to keep up social skills in a positive environment. The drug free stuff so far has been the most effective for me but mushrooms sound really promising and I have an open mind towards my recovery. Thanks for that feedback! I’m glad you found something that worked! Trauma can be a tough nut to crack for sure.

Try "Magic Mushrooms" / Psilocybin instead. It costs a lot less than ketamine.
I'm not liking what I hear about K. It's expensive to get treatment, it's controlled by doctors, it may take a year of treatments or dosing for the rest of your life. How is that any better than traditional anti-depressants? Of course, if it works and nothing else did, it is one option.
45 minute long dosing in an office twice a week is only for people with a lot of privilege in life. Counting prep time, recovery after the drug infusion, travel to and from the clinic, that's 2½ hours or more each session, not counting personal prep time and recovery time at home, which could mean 4 hours out of your day. Who has time for that if you have a job?
Tim Ferriss can afford that because he is wealthy. But many of us are not millionaires and we are suffering.
I'm smelling the stink of Big Pharma behind this. If Ketamine is not patented anymore and cheap to make, why is it so expensive for treatment? This is what I hate about the "Medical Industry". They are scaring us into thinking we need them to get treatment to survive. This is corruption and greed.
If you still want to go this route and qualify for MediCal or MedicAide, ask to get the nasal spray Sprivada (spelling?). It could be low-cost or free. You administer yourself at home and it takes less time out of your life.
Try Psilocybin. It's $10 or less per gram, good dose size is 5g, $50. You don't need a doctor to prescribe it or supervise/control you. Some people dose only 1-3 times and their depression is vastly reduced or gone. You can even grow your own shrooms and make it even more affordable. Shrooms also help you learn about yourself, become spiritual, and the trip can be fun. How many drugs from Big Pharma can claim that?
You can reduce the cost and be cautious by doing micro-dosing. It means using tiny amounts that you don't feel for awhile, but use for many months or a year.
View videos about it on TH-cam. Read Michael Pollan's book, "How To Change Your Mind" or see interviews with him on TH-cam. He's a journalist, writer and skeptic. He's not a promoter or selling any product other than his book, which you can get at the library for free. There's a woman author who wrote about micro-dosing with LSD. She's a lawyer in Berkeley and had good results. The only problem is finding a good source.
Where to get shrooms? Don't buy from online companies, TicToc, Telegram or Instagram dealers. Many are criminals who won't send you anything or worthless substances. Buy local in person. Check to find states or cities that have decriminalized or legalized sales and use. The big 3 are Oregon, Colorado and cities in California. Find a cannabis dispensary or local dealer. They may not sell, but they know people and sources.
See Church of Ambrosia in Oakland website for use. They have the sacrament, but no mail order. Lots of good information and a psychedelic conference every Easter weekend. See their videos on TH-cam.
      Have a good trip!

I had my first ketamine treatment two weeks ago and will have my fifth next week. I will be 81 in three weeks and have spent a life time in survival mode. How I wish I could have been a trial patient 25 years ago! Ive literally had hundreds of deep K-hole experiences over the past decade. I know that world very very well. Ive been to the bottom and saw Hell and Ive been to the top and resonated with God, and all points in between. There are places where whatever you think will manifest as vision. There are place's where the beings in that world react to your thoughts, your anxiety's and peace. Sometimes you're just free, flying through forests, over mountains. Other times the juxtaposition of imagery is so bizarre no artist alive could ever match its brilliance. The key is to still the mind and have a loving heart for the best experience with the best visuals. The greatest trips usually ended where your body felt it was made of stone and you had to break free like a baby bird hatching from an egg, you felt reborn after these trips.

I want to feel better, and doing everything I can, but somehow I'm emotionally blunt and wasn't before. Things seem kind of boring and I can't seem to muster the same excitement anymore. I have never felt this way before.

I dislocated my shoulder 3 weeks ago from a torn rotator cuff injury. Long story short I was in so much pain and so worked up cause moving g my toes or anything on my body hurts so bad in my shoulder that I couldn't be moved. I was having a hard time breathing from having had Covid recently for the 3rd time! That the EMT's weren't sure how to move me to the gurney. They ended up giving me Ketamene and within a minute or two I was calm enough to move. The pain hadn't gone away but I was in such a state that I didn't really care about it. I still cried from the pain but it was very different than before. My shoulder ended up going back in on its own thank god. But because they had given me the drug already I had to go with them for observation. I could hear everything from my breath working through my lungs and into my bloodstream to my boyfriends heartbeat across the room! As if I was hugging him with my head on his chest! I did kinda feel like a marshmallow if that makes any sense. Or like how Bradley Coopers girlfriend in the movie Limitless did when she had to take that drug to escape that bad guy that was gonna kill her! She immediately became very calm and aware of everything around her. It was kinda amazing and I'm so very Greatfull that I was given it. Cause without it, my experience would've been very very different and scarily painful! Now I know how first responders are able to transport people who have had steel rods go through their bodies or tree limbs, or have had limbs severed from shark attacks to the hospital without them dying from shock! It disassociate you from the pain. I'm glad it was Ketamene and not some forms of opiates that would most
likely make me addicted! Lord knows another addict is the last thing this country needs

I'm taking high doses at home but for some reason its just not the same as the infusion.

This! This is the fundamental flaw in not just mental health but in ALL health.
No system allowed to avoid responsibility will perform for its customers.
I understand that it’s incredibly difficult to guarantee anything in health but if anyone is wondering how we got here then it’s just a matter of weighing up the motivations toward care and profit.

As far as I know in Canada we don't have access to medical ketamine or professionals administering it. I learned of ketamine through a friend, I have found it to help with depression and anxiety instantly and pain relief also. It's nice compared to psilocybin and LSD, as it lasts an hour. It's also a controlled high depending on dose, I use it intranasal and find each line to stack on the effects of the last. I can see abuse for some being an issue, if you want/like to get high this can be disastrous. Otherwise if you respect your drugs and take them seriously, my personal experience is that there is no physical addiction or withdrawals. Super exciting for this to become mainstream, it is still jaded and compared to all other class 1 drugs here. Let's get things rolling in Canada.

Out here in the unprogressive back waters of Lincolnshire in England, mid/late '90s, we soon noticed this new post-rave wacky diversion was preventing the emotional crash & bleakness that hit 3-4 days after e. A little later I extrapolated to a once a week "tonic" k-hole as a palliative treatment for a debilitating condition i eventually cured with divorce. As a nursing assistant in mental health amongst colleagues who would lack ability & interest in "thinking outside the box", i'd have to be careful relating the more radical aspects of observations i'd made during weekends spent finding various ways out of mine, that i often felt relevant to aspects of the care we provided. Another was my insistence that there's no problem with hallucinating but why do some folks have such dysfunctional relationships with'em? Lack of qualification & visits to the barber meant i'd be brushed aside: "M-hm, yeah, whatever, mate... nah, he's fine- just ignore him. Good empathy with the patients..."

I’m so glad I watched this video. Thank you so much for posting.
I’ve had four ketamine treatments at a clinic in NYC before I even knew what it really was. I was just so tired of feeling down after many years on meds.
I went for depression and it seems to be helping. But one very unexpected thing happened. I have suffered from chronic pain all over my body For 32 years I’ve suffered from peripheral neuropathy from being Diabetic when I was pregnant.
ALL of the pain is GONE!! I mean all of it! This was a total surprise to me.
I could not be happier! I feel free . I don’t know if you understand the weight of what I’m saying but if you do, thank you. 32 years! Of suffering.
Thank you Doctor for doing this research. It has changed my life.

@franklinwood7984 I don’t honestly know. I’ve done 7 so far. The pain starts to return after about 6 weeks. The pain has not returned to the intensity level of before. I have not taken a pain med since the second treatment. I’m very happy, off all psych meds after being on them for nearly 35 years! I have had a complete change of thinking. A spiritual awakening, so to speak. Whatever it is, it’s working.

I'm using lozenges at home with a company called Better U which also provides an appropriate amount of pre treatment screening/advisement and ongoing support as well as integration coaching. I love this episode as the dosage used in my last session produced a pretty intense dissociative effect and a couple of days post treatment I do not feel as well as I did post treatment the previous three sessions as I was working up to the dissociative dose. I'm not severely depressed or treatment resistant so maybe I'm one of the individuals with adequate dendrite density or at least without severe dendrite deficit whose ideal / sweet spot dose is one that doesn't produce dissociative effects. For my treatment next week I'm going to lower my dose. I know a lot of people poo poo on in home ketamine treatment systems but Better U does provide a lot of support and coaching. In addition, I gather a lot of information on my own. The most obvious advantage is a reduction in cost but I think it also teaches you to be self-sufficient and take more responsibility for your own mental health and well-being.

I have chronic pain after an ankle fracture that required 4 surgeries (suspected CRPS), no depression. I've done a 24 hour infusiion and I have also taken a course of low-dose Ketamine orally. In my case, it is the only treatment that eases the pain.
I spent 3 years trying other pain treatments, including spinal injections.

Thank you for the excellent background and discussion on Ketamine. On my long covid recovery journey I developed PTSD and Anhedonia. The Safe and Sound Protocol has helped me out of PTSD, but the Anhedonia remains. Since I didn’t have any depression before long covid, I am hoping a series of ketamine treatments will help repair the. "collateral damage" long covid has done to my brain.
Regarding your experience with unlearning pain after your ketamine treatments, there are documented examples of neuroplasticity doing that--See the book "The Brain That Changes Itself".

Surprised you never got around to asking about kidney and bladder damage potential with ketamine abuse. Did I miss it somewhere in this otherwise amazing (and amazingly granular) interview?

    • @MisterNiles
      @MisterNiles ปีที่แล้ว +4

From what I've read bladder damage seems to happen mostly in people with multi gram a day abuse patterns. There were a couple of years where I was using it to treat depression and suicidal ideation related to a TBI. When I could get it. Even after 100 mg IM I could feel something going on with my bladder. I never had any real issues beyond a feeling in my bladder, but he didn't feel like a good thing. I would love to know if anyone is working on a way to mediate bladder issues caused by ketamine therapy. I know someone who has interstitial cystitis. Her doctor put her on ketamine which helped pain initially but eventually made her bladder problem worse. Seems like a bad move by the doctor.

@@Meowsonn And yeah. It's like magic. During the "honeymoon period" where I was using a bit too much (maybe a gram a day once a week and more than 250mg on other days, I unlocked something. I recorded like 2000 pieces of music in a little under two years! Here's the thing: I now HATE the after effects. I especially hate the way the drug makes my body feel for the remainder of the day. I don't like feeling like that. I preferred to just IM 150 in bed, although running around getting stuff done for a change, on lower doses through the day, was great. I wish I had access. I need to figure something out. Maybe if I can get out to psychedelic conferences in D.C. I can find the right person. And the good news is, although it's difficult to make myself dose, I can now buy mushrooms in shops in D.C. and hopefully that will help me get to a point where I can be social with some psychedelic people and hopefully make a connection.
I want to live my life in motion. Not stuck in bed or on the couch, paralyzed by anxiety and depression. Prices aren't going to come down in the clinics, so a black market solution is the only way, and that sucks.
      Thanks for the reply. Seriously..
