Join me artists as I paint a sweet little chickadee.
This is part 1 for a series of bird tutorials I will be sharing. I will give some beginner tips in the upcoming videos on sketching and painting whimsical birds, but this lesson is also good for the beginner.

Please paint more birds like this! I love this little guy. I'm a newbie but this was the most fun I've had with pastels yet and fairly easy to have some success! Thank you for giving of your talents and teaching us!
Yay!!! So happy you liked this. I actually do have some more bird tutorials on the horizon. I actually already have the footage filmed and just have to get it edited. It will be more on whimsical birds and having some fun.

I love your color choices! I have painted in watercolor, acrylic, collage etc. I always love the freshness and spontaneity of pastel marks. I am intimidated by the scope of supplies and expense of beginning pastel. (Probably because I already have a closet FULL of other art supplies) Your manner of teaching is engaging.
Thanks Cindy.... I too feel inspired obviously by pastels even though I work in other mediums. The color is so rich and undiluted. Yes, it can be an expensive setup, but I'd suggest spending more on the better pastels vs. the papers. I have lots of videos sharing how you can make your own surfaces economically. :) :)

I love this painting Birds are probably my favorite subject to paint. I’m definitely going to try this one and the next ones that you share. I have painted many in watercolors but never with pastels because I’m very new to this medium. Thanks for Monet Cafe.

I usually do the bird and then look for background
Also I us alcohol if I first coat and then use pastels
Because I think it gives a better detailing,well it's just my way😅
But m going to try and correct my mistakes
I hope you are doing well

Sandra Bick I uploaded a video today that has another version of this chickadee painting, but I used it to also teach on how to change a color palette using photo editing options. I have more footage for a whimsical bird tutorial coming soon… So I guess that would sort of be part three.
