at some point in the video, @10:12, that revolving thingy sez Music Sixty. so in that clip, it`s a safe bet that it was 1960. can`t say that for the entire video tho...
We all loved maynard but did he sell his soul for fame like all famous people do... ..how sad his own son died ( Bently ) he had to live through that ..his wife too...dont wish that on anyone...
i can assure you that MF did not sell his soul for fame. his was a gift from God, and what a gift to be given! i knew his son ( i knew him as Doug ) when we attended Ventura College back in the early `80s. we would talk every now and then and when he passed it wasn`t that he committed suicide. he and some friends were on the balcony of the then Holiday inn, up about 10 or 12 stories up, just goofin` around, a maintenance man yelled at them to get off the ledge, and that startled Doug, he lost his balance and fell. MFs wife, as you may know, passed from complications from alzheimers disease. there is a video here on YT from Dennis Diblasio talking about when MFs son passed. you should watch it. my own mother suffers from dementia. MF passed from liver and kidney failure brought on by an abdominal infection back in `06. i too don`t wish any of that on anyone.
@@twistedtrails8128 i believe you are correct....its weird...its like he was defferent from the rest...that he didnt seem to have an ego ...about his playing.....i saw an interview he had where he actually said " my talent if you will " ...and i thought he would of course talk of his trumpet high note thing actually said. " is my ability to bring all these talented people together in one spot to work together " like breaking the mold of fame...i also read he was sitting in an aiport in europe waiting hours for a delayd flight and turned to patrick hessing and said.." Glamorous isnt it " having a laugh......loved playing " down " in highschool auditoriums ..where as a guy like Buddy Rich i think hated it....so yes im gonna agree....the " controllers " probably didnt know what to do with maynard.....just too much God given talent ...and no burning drsire to be famous....so cheers..so very nice to meet you.. ..Jay. ps still have my st-302 from back in the day.....ive always suspected he was way more amazing a positive soul way beyond
@@twistedtrails8128 thanks for the kind reply...i agree maynards talent and positive soul was waay beyond his trumpet talent....he was really different ...at that level....and never appeared from what ive read an ego....as a human...an individual...his positive soul was his real talent...his trumpet playing minir in comparison ! Love seeing MF playing different styles (Dixieland 4:00-5:00), wish he would've done alot more of thos later in his career.
That last few minutes is a nice rendition of People. It is on the Dues album (also known as Color Him Wild) from the earlier MF years.
Late 60s on those last couple, probably 66-67.

i can only guess , that band was the same band that
recorded for Roulette .
