Thank you for another thoughtful and educational video. Personally, I would go for the Aqua Terra in a heart beat. I have owned a Rolex Explorer in the past, but ended up selling it less than a year after purchase. It was at the very top of my budget limit at the time and, while I knew it suited my active, outdoors life well enough on paper, I found myself progressively babying it, wrapping it up in cotton wool and only wearing it for “special” occasions. I recognised the service/repair costs would be very significant and I was always paranoid about other, undesirable characters “spotting” it whenever I wore it in public. I ended up with a black dial Aqua Terra. To me, this is the superior watch - more technically advanced movement, potentially more accurate, more waterproof (and potentially tougher too?) and flies unobtrusively under the radar. I don’t stress over value retention because I recognised that this would be a keeper for me. Thanks again, keep up the great work and stay well :-)
So you bought a watch that would outlive you if you jumped out of plane without a parachute but acted like it was a grand complication PP, got it. Not our problem 😂
Both are great watches. Ultimately though, never compromise on what your heart really wants. These wonderful devices are already silly overpriced toys so pick one that you have an emotional connection with.
I would add the following in favor of Aqua Terra: - Two barrels (even distribution of released energy for improved precision) - Independently adjustable hour hand like in true GMT movements (great for travelling) - Iconic distinctive features: famous Omega’s twisted lugs and fang shaped hour markers - Availability of ceramic dial versions that look stunning - Availability of small second versions (I’m not big fan of it but many people are) - Super comfortable rubber strap with distinctive metal insert which is great for summer time and quite affordable.
I had the same dilemma and I went with the AT 41mm, black dial and got both the bracelet and rubber strap. Absolutely fantastic watch and so flexible with both strap/bracelet options. I absolutely do not regret going AT over DJ.
classic aqua terra teak dial on the mesh omega bracelet is pure class. price retaining has nothing to do with actual value of the watch other than current market trend. owning a watch is about passion otherwise we are talking about stock exhange comodities which is another conversation
You do know that the people who watch these videos are mostly those that care about watches? I personally watch these videos because I love watches. Let people do what they want, unless they are hurting somebody.
Great video Ash. I’m an Omega fan and I think your comparison was fair and well adjusted. I think the saying ‘Horses for Courses’ comes to mind, when comparing. Personally, I would go for the Aqua Terra, even though I’m coming up to 66 years of age, but I can understand why the Datejust is extremely desirable especially when worn with a suit. However, I am more of a rugged type, so frills and fancies wouldn’t be my first desire. Of the Rolex range, I prefer the Oyster Perpetual, another iconic watch. Please do more comparisons.
In this case, I might select the Omega primarily because the Rolex Datejust is similar to others in my collection. In fact, the Rolex Oyster Date is really a 34mm Datejust. It might be nice to add a little variety to the collection, unless he wishes to collect only Rolex, which is fine. I also own an Omega dress watch I inherited from my father. Generally, I find Omega watches to be both superb and very nice but, like Tudor, they tend to have styling elements that make them seem not quite perfect. But I am 62 years old. I suspect that someone 32 would react quite differently. Excellent video, Ash!
Nice video as always! For me, if offered a SS Rolex DJ, yes I’ll grab it at MSRP. The Omega AT is typically available for purchase, so I’ll ask for a discount before buying it.
Aqua Terra but the original version in 38.5mm as worn by Daniel Craig in Skyfall . It has a lovely date cage around at the 3 o’clock position.. And in addition a fully brushed bracelet 🙌
I don't have a great love for Rolex, but a vintage piece (or 2) from your grandfather is pretty special. I think the answer here is the Omega. He's not adding anything with the Datejust, the Aquaterra gives a little variety to the collection, the Omega is less expensive, he won't need to massage the AD to sell him an Omega, he can get frisky with the colour palette, and the movement is no slouch. That said, there's a 3rd option - the Omega Constellation Globemaster.
I've owned the AT but sold it when I bought my DJ. Both are great watches but i prefered the fit and feel of the Rolex on the wrist. Its a much slender case and slips better under a cuff. However, the DJ isn't worth double of the AT! You can't go wrong with either option and maybe an Omega would be a nicr addition to this gentlemans collection.
That’s exaclty the problem I have with Omega, they are very nice but the fit could be better. Rolex and Tudor watches fit me perfectly. Maybe the problem is my own wrist
This… DJ wearability is no contest. With white gold markers and far superior finishing across the bracelet / case / dial (compared to a spec of rhodium over those garish shark teeth… I can’t un-see Christopher Ward, sorry omega 😂)
Modern Datejust is so versatile, and no brainer if you get it from your AD. Omega Aqua Terra you can have under 20% of MSRP from the gray market. Summer blue and Terracotta are nice colors.
Having own 3 ATs and DJs, I can honestly say that Rolex has the edge of fit, feel and presentation. While Omega owns the technical specs, value (especially pre-owned) and variety. I like them both and wear them equally as much. Although, you may be a little careful in certain environments with a Rolex, unless you’re trying to flex.
I wear a 38mm black AT everyday and it’s absolutely amazing. I think it looks a bit more modern than the DJ. Both are great, and like you said, you can’t go wrong with either
The Rolex 3235 can or may end up suffering with the dreaded low amplitude issue. Mine did but was fixed under warranty. The Omega coaxial can stop occasionally (more likely after 7 some time) mine did! a service fixed it
You are right, although technically brilliant, the Aqua Terra lacks personality. That's a charge laid at many modern Omega sports models. I would look to the Constellation and de Ville ranges, although somewhat less robust and more dressy, have more of that "it" factor. The one Omega that undoubtedly does have lasting star quality is the Speedmaster chronograph.
Yes....ive always thought that these watches are quite similar, and ive had this same question Rolling around in my mind...ive decided that ill get a date just 1st (when the budget is there)...and then the aqua terra for week day wear therafter. The AT certainly has alot of strap variety, which the date just doesnt have in my view....agree the date just would be a better option
Hi. Ash, I have been wearing a solid rose gold Datejust for some 15-20 years now, they may not be available new but there are certainly gold Datejust out there on the used market.
I do not completely agree. I mean I agree that Aqua Terra is technically a superior watch. I agree that it is much easier to get Aqua Terra at AD. But you were talking about something, that he called "it", and Day Just had, and Aqua Terra did not. I think Aqua Terra has "it", it its "it" is not smaller than Rolex's "it". Especially if you consider AT teak dial, and not shades dials. I'll take AT over Rolex any time. BTW, I also think Daniel Craig has more "it", then "Tom Cruise".
Hi Ash, Until a few weeks ago I would have said that the Aqua Terra would be my choice, if I could have only one nice, luxury watch! But little I knew. Now I would go for a - no not a Rolex Datejust - but an Omega Globemaster! Yes, the first Omega with a METAS certification as a Master Chronometer. The Globemaster is from Omega’s Constellation collection. And the Constellation was the most accurate watch model in Omega’s lineup who won many prizes as an observatory chronometer! It has got the famous pie pan dial from the older models and a riffled bezel like your Datejust. But the bezel is made from tungsten. So, it’s nearly impossible to scratch. With a 39mm case and a lug to lug of only 46.6mm it should wear quite well on most wrists. And I like the date at 6 which keeps the symmetry of the dial. The caliber 8900 is practically a-magnetic and you could move the hour hand without hacking the second. And yes after a couple of price increases during the last 2-3 years the Globemaster isn’t much cheaper than a Datejust. But it should be possible to get a discount from your AD. For me Omega is like Audi. It’s the role model for understatement. And remember James Bond and Sophie Marceau in Casino Royale: “… expenses watches - Rolex? Omega! Beautiful!” 😉 Best wishes Claus
As you have said here, Ash, the Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic wristwatches in the world. I bought a Datejust with a black dial and a yellow gold and steel jubilee bracelet sixteen years ago, and have worn it almost daily ever since that time. -It keeps excellent time, and I've never had the slightest problem with it. In my opinion, this particular watch can be dressed either up or down, and worn with everything from a sport coat or a suit, to a linen shirt rolled up to the elbows in the heat of summer. With its black dial, it can even work with black tie, should the occasion warrant it. Having said that, Omega makes some excellent watches as well. -I inherited a gold-cased dress Omega with an alligator strap, dated to 1953, from my maternal grandfather, which I wear occasionally with tweed jackets and cardigan sweaters in the fall. To my knowledge, it has only been serviced once in its seventy years, and keeps perfect time. I really do feel that a quality watch is the one piece of jewelry that the stylish man should consider investing in. On a cost-per-wear basis, it can become almost economical over time, and of course has both resale value, and the ability to be passed down from one generation to another as a desired family heirloom.
Although you were taking an overall look at each watch, you omitted a couple of things in favor of the DJ. First is the Easylink bracelet. Second is the 19mm lug width. The AT bracelet looks too narrow to my eye. I currently own 3 DJ's and have owned an AT. I found the butterfly clasp to be quite uncomfortable. I probably have a weird 16mm wrist, but the Easylink and a better clasp are game changers for me. Keep up the good work.
Love your channel! Thank you for your efforts and life insights. Omega Aqua Terra Small Seconds, 41mm in Blue - Much more interesting than the standard Aqua Terra, and my choice! And, $5,000 USD. My wrist is 7 1/8”, so the 41mm works perfectly. I refuse to play the Rolex-game despite the beauty of the Date-Just. Yours, in blue, is absolutely beautiful. Cheers!
I Think that comparing those of two watches is slightly wrong. Omega AT in my opinion is equivalent of a Rolex Explorer, because Omega Globemaster has more dress aesthetics, just like Rolex DJ.
I’ll never be able to afford either, but frankly I’d go for the Aquaterra. The bezel is narrower, the markers are triangular, and you can get it with the “teakwood” face, all of which give the design a bit of youthful pizzazz without detracting from the “wow” factor. There’s a certain beauty in subtlety combined with true quality. Put that watch next to a truly generic design and you can immediately tell the difference.
Totally agree with your sentiment. Good advice. Here’s my take. Just my opinion. In matters like this we know in our hearts what we want. But sometimes due to price and or availability it’s not within reach at this time. So we seek out an alternative. Then hopefully someone will validate that decision. But it almost always ends in disappointment. If you truly desire the one over the other then go for it. Otherwise wait wait wait and you’ll avoid the waste of money buying the wrong one. Also Rolex has a huge advantage over every other brand. They have a certain style and look and feel “it” that cannot be replaced by any other brand. In my opinion of course. Great video.
Another great video Ash! I agree this gentleman is in a wonderful position. I hope he lets us all know what he decides. I just got the call for the Explorer II I was waiting on. It took about 7 months. I got the call 📞 the week of my father’s birthday. I have not had anything else on the wrist since. It’s 42MM on my 7-1/2 inch wrist is perfect for me. Still on the honeymoon with it but I will let you know where it ends up in my watch collection. 🙏🏻😊🥃
Here’s my opinion, go with the omega. It may lose its value quicker than the Rolex, but you get more functionality and a better watch for your money in my opinion. The Rolex date just is really just that, it’s a watch that tells you the time and the date he doesn’t have any other functionality than that. The Omega has a time jam feature where you can easily change the time zone if you’re traveling without stopping to watch. The anti-magnetism rating on the Rolex is only about 1000 Gause whereas on the omega it’s 15 times the anti-magnetism rating. It’s also much less recognizable in there for less likely to get stolen.
Well put! I've been through this same conundrum and came to the same conclusion. I do think that the person who asked the question should go with the Aqua Terra just because he already has a few Rolexes. Or maybe even consider something like a second hand Reverso to give his collection a little more variety. Both the Datejust and Aqua Terra tick the same box and are a but redundant.
Great comparison. Owned the AT before and have a OP now. If you want to save money, also the OP can be considered for the comparison, yes maybe without the date window but aesthetically still beautiful. While Superlatives come with +/- 2 sec on accuracy the master chrono Omegas have 0 to +5 seconds. So technically the tolerance on Superlative is better or at least on a similar level. Both are great very hard to decide but I as I already did I already went for the Rolex still searching for a nice AT now 😂
I always think that there are watch enthusiasts and then there are are Rolex and Omega enthusiasts. There are estimated to be around ten thousand watch brands and though the majority are low quality there are still large numbers of quality brands like Jaeger Le Coultre, Glashutte Original, Zenith. Piaget, IWC, Grand Seiko to name a few. yet so many people only see Rolex and Omega. I realise that this gains views. Ironically Rolex has quite a small history and spent the early days sticking Rolex badges on watches made by other manufacturers. Even now they have the most "industrial" mechanical watch manufacturing and have perfected the art of making watches on production lines. The Toyota of watch production really but through a huge marketing budget for sports like Formula 1, major golf and tennis tournaments etc.they command prices that have trebled in real terms over the last few decades. As an example of how to build a brand, make a successful company and position yourself as Veblen goods they are world leaders.
Great video!! I don’t think u can go wrong w either of these beauties. My biggest gripe with the omega is the bracelet. I tried one on 2 years back - maybe they have improved since then - but the untapered bracelet made the watch seem unbalanced. The tapered bracelet on the Rolex is really far superior imho. I really liked the aqua terra on a rubber strap, but in the end went DJ w jubilee and fluted bezel.
I just bought my first ever Omega. And it was the AT that I carefully selected. I also have a Rolex Datejust. And the DJ was NOT what I necessarily wanted because you’re not supposed to have the Rolex that you actually want.
I got the blue dial 38mm AT because I planned (and now have) the latest model 36mm Explorer and knew I wanted a slightly dressier watch alongside the slightly sportier look of the Explorer. My AT is the horizontal plank style dial rather than the plain sunburst dial on the “shades” version of the AT you show on the video. The dial is absolutely gorgeous and really adds a distinctive look to the watch rather than the shades version which is, as you say, generic. AT for me given the chap’s other watches. Get the non-shades AT now before it becomes iconic too.
Great comparison, I made my decision today between those exact 2 models. I put that exact Rolex on my wish list at Rolex. Thank you and I agree with your opinion.
I have 0p39 blue and at skyfall. I cant decide which one I like more. But am leaning to op lately...it just Seems to accomplish what the at Does but with less effort.
Ash i am a big fan of the Aqua Tera. I really like the 6 o'clock date window and the fact that the movement is superior. But it is a plan looking dial. However i really like the Rolex but not a fan of the cyclops window, it is distracting. And breaks up the symmetry of the watch. I would say i agree with you that the date just is more flashy and classy. That said the date just looks very similar to the one he already has. Go with your heart sir. Best regards Ron
My only problem with the green and the tiffany blue dial colours is that they may look dated in a few years time, where a more conservative dial colour, like black, white, grey, silver, gold will remain timeless.
I own both Rolex and Omega and it always feels that bit more special when I wear my Rolex watches , they do have that IT factor for sure and on the accuracy factor I can’t really see any difference between them , none are as good as my Apple Watch for that lol
Thanks for the video. I agree, although the date just has inferior specs, it has “it” and wins. I also think the shiny polish on the Omega makes it look “cheaper” than it actually is.
I'd advise to go for the Omega. It's technically the better watch, and he already owns a more desirable Rolex in the Explorer. And it seems the DJ would be redundant in his collection. Personally, I could never buy an AT. It looks to me like someone snapped the arrow off the end of the hour hand, and that's all I see when I look at it.
Considering his existing watches get the omega he already has a very similar Rolex. The answer may have been different if it was a first watch or depending on other things in his collection
Agree with you, I tried on that green AT again last night and whilst a lovely watch it doesn’t make me grin like the Datejust does when I try them on (I’m on ‘the list’), it’s also overpriced.
I will put another challenger to the mix. A nomos neomatik sport 37 which is 200m water resistance but only 8.3mm in thinness.. and with a sapphire caseback to view a german in house movement.. tough choice..
This is tough if you want the better watchmaking history, heritage and build/movement quality go with Omega. If you want better branding and in this case IMO better looks go with the DJ
I believe Tom Cruise wears a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar as his everyday. 😂. All things aside a nice comparison and great of you Ash to spend sometime to get to grips with the AquaTerra. I think certainly here in the U.K. you can quite easily get a brand new Aqua Terra for under £5k if you do a bit of haggling. Makes the Omega even more tempting. I myself, recently bought a brand new Omega Railmaster for £2,920 from the WOS group. Essentially it’s a non date, non polished AquaTerra. I absolutely love it. Such a nice understated piece and works well with most outfits. The 8806 calibre is incredibly stable and only gains about 20 seconds a month. 👍🏻
Another con of the datejust (in my opinion) is the magnifying window for the date... I personally do not like those, makes it a distraction to the beautiful dial, and makes it a bit too "tool" for such a classy watch. I don't mind it as much on a submariner, but really I wished Rolex would remove them on their datejust.
I have both and enjoy my day just more than the omega. The omega is top heavy, weak lume, and no t-fit. I had to change the bracelet to an Artem sailcloth strap to make it lighter
Choosing between Rolex and Omega is easy, just answer these questions: 1) Have you ever tried to seduce your best friends girlfriend? 2) Have you ever stolen perfumes from the bathroom of your dinner host? 3) Is the amount of money in possession what defines the value of any human? If you have answered 'yes' to these questions you are a Rolex guy. If 'no', you should chose Omega.
@@TheChapsGuide Maybe it is a cultural thing, I live in Sweden, a culture where wearing/showing expensive items is traditionally frowned upon. So perhaps in Sweden those who do it are a different type, not representative of the international Rolex wearer. I can say that 100% of the Rolex wearing Swedes I have met were total douchebags. But on the other hand, I have met Asians with Rolex watches that are nice and normal people. I am interested in the question, does Rolex have an image problem, or does non-Scandinavian Rolex wearers feel about this possible image problem exist? Mr ChapsGuide exudes nice guý vibes and would, in my very prejudiced eyes, not fall in the potential asshole category even sporting this brand.
I like both but can't understand why you state the Aqua Terra has no distinguishing features. It has Lyre lugs, "shark teeth" hour markers, a 6 o'clock date window, an arrowhead minute hand and a distinct bracelet, all unique to Omega.
I was thinking the same thing. If you think the aqua terra is plain, your not looking hard enough. Just compare the dials. Especially the ones with the teak (spelling) deck lines. Plus the rubber strap option is excellent.
The Rolex definitely if you want the history, look and recognition that comes with it (although also maybe a hazard these days). For viewers that are not really into the watch world, like the Omega AT, but may want to start at a lower pricepoint, the new Longines Conquest at about 1/3 ot the price might be a good option. Enjoy your videos. Regards
There is nothing either good or bad about Rolex or Omega but thinking makes it so. Oh, what rogues and peasant slaves to trends are we ! To Rolex or not to Rolex, that is the question…. Thanks Will👊
Hi Ash. I like both watches. I own an Omega AquaTerra and it’s a fantastic watch. My advice to your viewer is to go with the Omega. The finishing is outstanding and it does have an objectively higher end movement, being that it’s coaxial.
Also I have to disagree with you just a bit.. I think the AquaTerra is special, and I feel great wearing it. And I’m not a Rolex hater, either. I own a Sea-Dweller 126600 and love it! 😊 I’ve also had my eye on a Datejust for a while…
Hi, Ash. This is Murilo here (the one who sent you the E-mail you answered with this video). I really appreciate your reply on such a detailed video. After thinking thoroughly on which of these two watches to buy, I ended up buying a completely dofferent one, a Cartier Ronde Must, 40mm. I decided that was the way to go because adding another Rolex wouldn't do anything for me and Cartier is such an interesting and elegant brand.
There’s not 1 datejust now that you can sell for above RRP. Furthermore, most omegas including this one you should be getting 10-20% off of RRP in 2024.
I went to see the AquaTerra in person and what a frustration it was... Flimsy bracelet with no tapper. The watch itself is amazing, yet the bracelet is a bummer.. Rolex all the way!
Outside of the Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch, Omega is like driving a Genesis. You will constantly have to explain why you chose it. I do admit that Rolex is considered far better than it is. My Royal Oak is very rarely noticed. Depending on what you buy your watches for, the ladies will always lock onto a Rolex over any other watch. My opinion, we will never return to the 2000's where watch buyers sought diversity. In this social media world people will seek in mass: Rolex, Patek, AP, VC, or reach for a Richard Mille and FP Journe. It is too hard to get anything serviced. The rest will go away.
I'd rather have 2 Aqua Terra's in different colors than 1 Datejust for almost the same price. They're comparable watches and very similarly appealing in looks. Rolex has the better name and retains it's value more, but for my hard earned money, I'll take the Omega's every time.
If I was able to spend 6K on a single watch in 2024, I'd prefer the... Grand Seiko hi-beat instead of both. I think their dials make these watches stand out from other models unlike the Omega AT, the movement is great too, and their cases and sizes allow to dress them up if needed. Maybe that's because I prefer the Japanese watches in general (no wonder, at least I can actually afford Orients and Seikos). I might be wrong, of course, because I don't actually have none of those expensive watches, so these are just my thoughts on the design and specs.
Personaly i preder rolex, but dont say rolex is better, its a personal choice,i just think for the same budget i prefer to buy the rolex, problem is rolex will put me on damned waitlist...
FYI, Many non special dialed Datejusts are now available with little to no wait. PM models can be had with a slight consideration at Dealers here in NYC. We are slowly returning to a pre covid environment.
What's a non-special dial? Like a black or white dial? Are Mint Green and Wimbledon non-special, because I got a call for each 9 months apart.
Thank you for another thoughtful and educational video.
Personally, I would go for the Aqua Terra in a heart beat. I have owned a Rolex Explorer in the past, but ended up selling it less than a year after purchase. Porshe 911 Turbo.
What an enviable dilemma! 😂 Personally I like the Aquaterra, simpler but I feel there’s something ever so Art Deco to it-at least to my eye.
I would add the following in favor of Aqua Terra:
- Two barrels (even distribution of released energy for improved precision)
- Independently adjustable hour hand like in true GMT movements (great for travelling)

- Super comfortable rubber strap with distinctive metal insert which is great for summer time and quite affordable.
First two points apply only to the 41mm, 8900 movement not being discussed here though, right?
@@NicolasMiariExactly, the author mentions the 41 mm size (12:12), but skips mentioning the more superior movement it has.
Omega man myself , just can’t seem to get on with Rolex for many reasons . 9 omega I’m my collection so definitely flying the flag for them .
I had the same dilemma and I went with the AT 41mm, black dial and got both the bracelet and rubber strap. Absolutely fantastic watch and so flexible with both strap/bracelet options.

A very thorough comparison. Well done!

Save your money and wear the watches you have. We all have too much stuff in this materialistic world.
save for? LMAO

It’s not the amount you spend on a watch, it’s how you wear it. But what you choose to wear does matter.
For example, my $45 Timex Auto that I modified to have a silver case and cream/gold dial from the 80’s on a tan leather strap is class.

For me, if offered a SS Rolex DJ, yes I’ll grab it at MSRP.
The Omega AT is typically available for purchase, so I’ll ask for a discount before buying it.
I went with the green dial AT and could not be happier. Put it on a light brown Horween strap with minimal stitching. It’s becoming a favorite wear!
Aqua Terra but the original version in 38.5mm as worn by Daniel Craig in Skyfall . It has a lovely date cage around at the 3 o’clock position.. And in addition a fully brushed bracelet 🙌
Absolutely, I have the quartz version of that watch and the brushed bracelet is a must for the AT.
Skyfall made the AT
Yes thats the best one!
Love the watch chats on this channel
An amazing critique. Thorough

I went with the AT shades in saffron. Beautifully dressy but also tones down when needed. Excellent GADA for me.
Why not buy a used Aqua Terra? Some bargains out there. I hate the way Rolex markets its watches. No way I would go on a waiting list.
Modern Datejust is so versatile, and no brainer if you get it from your AD. Omega Aqua Terra you can have under 20% of MSRP from the gray market. Summer blue and Terracotta are nice colors.

I wear a 38mm black AT everyday and it’s absolutely amazing. I think it looks a bit more modern than the DJ. Both are great, and like you said, you can’t go wrong with either
Still discounts to be had on Omega watches. Would be looking at 10-15% of RRP.
The Rolex 3235 can or may end up suffering with the dreaded low amplitude issue. Mine did but was fixed under warranty. The Omega coaxial can stop occasionally (more likely after 7 some time) mine did! a service fixed it
What about the fit of the Aqua Terra bracelet and adjustments of its clasp in comparison to the Datejust?
Hi Ash,
Until a few weeks ago I would have said that the Aqua Terra would be my choice, if I could have only one nice, luxury watch!
Omega! Beautiful!” 😉
Best wishes
Claus
Not Sophie, but Eva Green. Both are very beautiful French ladies.
@@fayzzzjai5153You’re right! Thanks. 👍
Thorough review. Tom Cruise off watching is great effort 👏🏾 I thought it was kind of funny, but I love the hustle
But am leaning to op lately...it just
Seems to accomplish what the at
Does but with less effort.
Very accurate analysis!
The prices of this jewelry are absurd.
8:23 uppssss “ it’s a simple movement just give you the Day and the Date” that’s the Day Date Oyster Perpetual 😉 Sir
My only problem with the green and the tiffany blue dial colours is that they may look dated in a few years time, where a more conservative dial colour, like black, white, grey, silver, gold will remain timeless.
I’m inclined to agree. Black and white will never fall from fashion’s wicked eye.
I own both Rolex and Omega and it always feels that bit more special when I wear my Rolex watches , they do have that IT factor for sure and on the accuracy factor I can’t really see any difference between them , none are as good as my Apple Watch for that lol
Ash, would it be considered sacrilegious to obtain a DJ36 with a smooth bezel & oyster bracelet?
Well, I think it defeats the point of getting a DJ. You would be better off with an OP
The hour hand observation is spot on😂
Considering his existing watches get the omega he already has a very similar Rolex. The answer may have been different if it was a first watch or depending on other things in his collection
I'd say either. I do think, however, that the AT teak dial is better than Rolex lacquer.
Alternatively you could buy two jubilee Black Bay 41s, one for each wrist...
36-38mm is a way to go :)
I have both and enjoy my day just more than the omega. The omega is top heavy, weak lume, and no t-fit. I had to change the bracelet to an Artem sailcloth strap to make it lighter
Choosing between Rolex and Omega is easy, just answer these questions:
1) Have you ever tried to seduce your best friends girlfriend?
2) Have you ever stolen perfumes from the bathroom of your dinner host?
3) Is the amount of money in possession what defines the value of any human?
If you have answered 'yes' to these questions you are a Rolex guy. If 'no', you should chose Omega.
I answered 'no' to all the questions, yet I own several Rolex models and have never been tempted by Omega.
That Omega Aqua Terra looks more like a Seiko trademark type watch. I love the Omega specs but I prefer the Rolex Date Just style look.
The value retention of the Rolex makes it the smart choice.
I have seen both Watches and must say the omega looked stunning
The Rolex definitely if you want the history, look and recognition that comes with it (although also maybe a hazard these days). For viewers that are not really into the watch world, like the Omega AT, but may want to start at a lower pricepoint, the new Longines Conquest at about 1/3 ot the price might be a good option. Enjoy your videos. Regards
There is nothing either good or bad about Rolex or Omega but thinking makes it so. Oh, what rogues and peasant slaves to trends are we ! To Rolex or not to Rolex, that is the question….
Thanks Will👊
Disagree on the Aquaterra being generic and having no distinctive features compared to generic watches. Case in point:
Teak dial.
Lyre lugs.
Great choice sir. Cartier are such an elegant watch. I hope you love it.
If you are going to buy new get the Rolex at retail. If you are going to buy preowned get the Aqua Terra, thats where the real bargain lies. 😊
The Rolex of course ! The fluted bezel is absolutely marvellous.
There’s not 1 datejust now that you can sell for above RRP. Furthermore, most omegas including this one you should be getting 10-20% off of RRP in 2024.
Hi. I love your content, but the whole Rolex thing is starting to feel old. Consider more budget friendly watches that are technically far superior.
Get the "omeega". He's already got like 3 rolexes
I went to see the AquaTerra in person and what a frustration it was... Flimsy bracelet with no tapper. The watch itself is amazing, yet the bracelet is a bummer.. Rolex all the way!
When will you be releasing an update on your own watch journey given your recent comment on "done with Rolex"?
Soon.
@@TheChapsGuide Thank you. Very curious
Compare the Datejust to the Omega Globemaster. It is at a sweet spot of 39mm.
I‘d prefer an Omega Globemaster in steel with a steel bracelet snd a blue dial over both of them.
If we're talking Aqua Terra vs Datejust oyster smooth bezel, it's Omega all day. Fluted & Jubilee though....
I prefer the new Longines Conquest to either.
I'd rather have 2 Aqua Terra's in different colors than 1 Datejust for almost the same price. They're comparable watches and very similarly appealing in looks. Rolex has the better name and retains it's value more, but for my hard earned money, I'll take the Omega's every time.
The Rolex is very nice but my Aqua Terra with the terracotta dial has "it" in spades.
Ironically, $13,000 for a mass produced steel watch is insane! I thought you were saved Ash. I was never a fan of psychiatry, tell him to buy both!
Bougth a new Omega railmaster demin for under 3000 euro, for my sons birthday. Why pay ridiculous prices for a nice watch that aint rare ?
Also, you may be able to get a discount on the Aqua Terra.
Between Omega Aqua Tera and Rolex Datejust, a chap always chooses Seiko Samurai 🤵
Personaly i preder rolex, but dont say rolex is better, its a personal choice,i just think for the same budget i prefer to buy the rolex, problem is rolex will put me on damned waitlist...
