You did a fantastic job and you do look absolutely amazing. I am a quilter and I cannot think of a better way to extend the life of a quilt that may be ending its life as a quilt, many people would’ve just thrown it in the trash and I think you gave it new life. I know there are many quilters that think it’s terrible to do this but I could not disagree more.

Features like: centering a design element on the back, utilizing the unique edge of the quilt, and working to pattern match the front, elevate these coats to the next level and best showcase the material. It's careful planning with the quilt pattern which give the $300 coat Its price tag, not just the "I used an antique quilt" attention grab.
Making a quilt coat is on my list of things to do. I bought a quilted blanket at a thrift store, but needed an extra blanket on the bed this winter and rather fell for it in blanket form. 😅 Time to look for another.
May you get much use from you new coat. It's a very unique piece to have!

Thanks for your wonderful video. I will make one myself and is looking for antique quilts. Do you have tips where I can find them?

No collar you can wear a scarf with your pretty jacket, I love how it came out. Good gob ...

Only restyle cutter quilts, those that can't be used or displayed in decayed condition.

oh my gosh, a double wedding ring quilt! pretty special history of that quilt pattern.

It only looks vintage. I don't believe it is. If it was, it truly is sacrilege.

  • @cnleiva

As a quilter its near sacrilegious to hack up a vintage or antique quilt for a coat, especially a wedding ring quilt. Dios mio. You can piece together your own quilt top to use for a coat. This hurts my soul. Lol. Nice job though.

I think you do look super cool in it! I'm making a quilt jacket and your video was by far the most helpful one I've seen.

I just bought a $14 thrifted quilt today with the intention of turning it into a jacket. I'm so glad you used a jacket you already had, because that's what I was thinking about doing too! Yours turned out great, and this video is super helpful. My quilt has some lovely binding that I would love to keep on the jacket in the middle and on the bottom at least.

As a quilter I’m clenching my teeth, this was a double wedding ring! The most difficult type of quilt to make. 😿🙀

I honestly love how it turned out, she made it into wearable art. If oneday someone does this to my quilts, I would be honored ❤️

I know, right?! Lol. But it came out lovely. I wouldn’t do this to one of my quilts (or any quilt, really,) but I’ll gladly make some patchwork expressly for attempting a jacket. I’ve never made any clothing but this sure makes me want to try.

Same here. And if your going to cut up a DWR at least utilize the scalloped edges. This was tough to watch

I think it's really cute. Maybe a little more fussy cutting would have improved the overall look. I'm thinking of making one myself.

I love your video! I finally found a thrift store antique quilt for 2$ and have been afraid to cut it! I think you could use the leftover scraps and sell beautiful jackets on depop. Yours look just as amazing as those I've seen on there!

You are too cute!! Haha. Great job on the jacket!
...I need to go find an old quilt...aaand then learn how to sew garments. 😆
And I can’t believe you sew with the machine one the floor and still use the foot pedal! Goosh...I miss being young! Haha
Good job! Keep up the tutorials because you do inspire people. ✌🏻

Why did you not at least pattern match or use the beautiful scallops?

I did cringe when the finished edge was cut off. It's such a unique feature to not use, seemed a shame. Also agree about the pattern matching.

Great idea and great jacket. Just a thought .... the intro part seems endless and most of it was a bit unnecessary. Then the actual instructions were really fast and a bit confusing !

  • @bookbeing
    @bookbeing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This is so painful to watch! Omg, like cutting up a Monet piece to convert it into post it notes. This just feels wrong on such a fundamental level. 😿like an irreplaceable piece of a womens creative work, of history, is being destroyed and lost.

Although your jacket looks nice I have to say as a quilter I cringed when you cut up the quilt. It looks like the quilt may have been hand quilted and double wedding ring quilts are one of the more difficult quilts to sew. Many hours went into. For me now what do you do with the rest of it you dont use? Its controversial to do this especially since fashion trends go so quickly and people end up throwing their clothes away. It's cute but I have mixed feelings about it

It's all wonky. What kind of jacket doesn't close. Ruined a good quilt.

Cute quilted jacket. You did a good job. Why in the heck do you sew on the floor? You look like you’re from a third world country. It looks so uncomfortable. Don’t you have a kitchen table you could use or a card table?

    • @lindalehnert9227

I see lots of young people sitting on floor to sew. I don’t get it either
