    Been there, done that. Kids don't want healthy snacks. They want M&Ms, Reese's Cups, and Pop Tarts. These guidelines killed our school locations. Sales dropped by at least 80%.

      @@healthyvending Ok I just realized your channel is about selling healthy vending. Sorry, Im not trying to bash your business, just offering my first hand account about schools. Im sure that your equipment does will in other locations. Kids absolutely prefer sweet snacks (sugar!) to healthier options. They want a nice big bag of greasy Lay's or Doritos, not Veggie Stix. Sure they'll eat the healthier stuff if that's all there is, but not nearly in the quantities that they'll consume traditional junk food. They couldn't care less about affordability; they're using their parents dime.
      I dusted off the old files...in our heyday w/schools, our local HS averaged around $300/week in sales from a single snack machine. After the nutritional restrictions the same machine dropped to $50/week w/o timers. We used to service it 3 times a week at it's peak, once a week at the end. It got so bad, we pulled the machine. Between the lack of sales, reduced margin on those sales, and security restrictions on getting in the building to service them, it just wasn't worth it anymore.

      @@Boblib1970 No offense taken here, Bob. While I appreciate your feedback, the numbers speak otherwise and the "kids only want junk" kind of mentality allows my company to replace junk-food vending machines all across the country at high foot-traffic locations, we do it every day and we guarantee to improve sales as we are able to attract all consumers, not just the junk-food eaters. Junk-food eaters who, frankly, are the easiest to win over as all they care about is taste. You might be interested in seeing the machine returns in this video as $300/week isn't a bad week but it would be considered average for my clients and the results we generate -----> th-cam.com/video/iX2hSCEIbHw/w-d-xo.html

      I was wondering if there was any loopholes around this to sell snacks kids want or any healthy snacks that appear just as appealing ?

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No loophole needed, there are a significantly wide selection of products that meet the guidelines and kids buy them like crazy. It's not about 'broccoli in a bag', there are alternatives to junk-food where you can actually pronounce the ingredients that taste just as good as the junk. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Hey boss,
    Who should I be speaking to/communicating with about High School vending machine contracts? Would it be the district? Principles? Assistant principles? Who is exactly in charge of vending machine opperations.
    Thanks

      Hey Joseph, that's a great question and always has different answers depending on the school and/or district. It can be any of the roles you mentioned, and others. You always want to start at the school, ask if there are vending machine on during the day for the kids, if not, then there's opportunity. Then go to the district to find out who the decision maker is. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Great video! Is zero sugar energy drinks (redbull, 5 hour energy, monster) allowed under the guideline? I recently realized it’s a booming opportunity after learning how much kids are addicted to Prime

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I appreciate you watching! No, we don't put any of the redbull, monster, etc. items in our machines. The zero sugar drinks, like those have aspartame, and the WHO (World Health Organization) just announced aspartame as a carcinogen (cancer causing ingredient) which has been widely known for many years as a carcinogen so it's good to finally see a major organization back this up. Regarding PRIME, it doesn't feature aspartame as an ingredient and actually has some better ingredients that you listed. I have clients who offer PRIME and they sell out extremely fast in their machines!

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, they were off because of the vendors inability, or unwillingness, to meet the nutritional guidelines so they can be on during the schools day. Or, in some cases, the decision-makers wouldn’t allow them on because they have the misunderstanding that they’d compete with the lunch room program reducing their federal reimbursements. However, we’ve proven this to not be true across the country at school after school. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙌

      @healthyvending I'd definitely like too schedule a call with you soon you've changed my eyes on what school vending could become with some ingenuity it could be a renisance for vending I was at first very skeptical I am a big junk food eater , but times , regulations and equipment are rapidly changing the old way is very saturated I've mostly been involved in amusement and non product vending aka claw machines and atms but there are a ton of schools near me and as we just discussed many I'm sure still have the vending machines off limits if not turned off completely during majority of the academic days, we would have too sneak and use these vending machines at My charter school for middle and high school if we got caught we'd lose our precious snack n receive a detention and that's a school with probably close too 1,500 people daily!

      Schools are legit cash-cows! My clients make between $3K - $5K+ per machine in a school. The challenge is getting into them but we've cracked the code for sure! Yeah, would love to have you on a call, you will want to start here - www.vendingaccelerator.com/

      @healthyvending I did schedule a call I wanted too get some more information and start when the schools get back in session but your team canceled me at the last minute due too my financial status it killed a lot of excitement I had for the industry I've been focusing more on amusement vending crane/claw machines it's a little cheaper too start, I have seen some level of success in the school vending online I've seen drinks snacks and ice cream that meets standards if nothing else you've opened my eyes too some ideas I'd of never even thought about. Maybe in the future I'll reach out again, I think you've taken a fresh new approach too vending and your a exceptional sales person I've seen you respond too critics at times a bit cocky but I think it's well deserved and well earned your probably tired of hearing that healthy vending won't work that people want crap foods , & on the other end people often can't see things being done any other way than the way they have seen it done since childhood, a old used machine , coils , may have a credit card reader that often rarely works n filled up with the cheapest saltiest n sweetest treats from sams club ...most people live in the past of vending other countries particularly the Asian countries surpass us in automation as a whole. While criticism is I believe valid yes kids may prefer junk but health regulations won't allow it and even if kids sell candy in school and chips they can't tap the drink or ice cream markets in schools snacks are the only thing with competition. I am a huge soft drink fan I watched your videos and went from critic too fan. In the area I run my claw machines there are 3 schools hopefully one day I can see some of your results. Your making vending great again haha.

      @healthyvending  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No location is the same, I’ve had easier experiences with hospitals and some hard. For hospitals this can sometimes depend on the type of Coke contract present. There are several types and some are quite non-restrictive. Good for you if you have experienced an easy path for schools, they’re cash-cows.

    I have a question, do you need insurance on machines vending machines, if so what company do we need to go through.

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there, thanks for watching! Yes, you need to cover the machine in the event there is damage during installation and personally if it injures anyone while in the location. Product liability or coverage is not needed since items are already packaged for consumption from the manufacturer. The minimum annual premium should be around $500-$600 for the year regardless of the number of machines as this is the typical premium min for most insurance carriers. My recommendation would be to go through Hartford Insurance. Hope this helps!

    So healthy snacks is now required for vending machine ?

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a loaded question, Kay. First, it depends on what you would consider or define as 'healthy' as my definition would be different from other. 'Smart Snacks in School' guidelines are aimed at being healthy but even items like Diet Dr. Pepper will qualify which is definitely NOT healthy. But, in short, the high majority of public schools do require these guidelines to be met, yes.

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mustafa, thank you for watching! It all depends on whether or not vending decisions are made on the school district level or the school level. And if you're talking about public schools then, in most cases, you must meet the USDA guidelines for 'Smart Snacks in Schools.' Schools can be the more difficult locations to secure if you are unfamiliar but they are absolute goldmines if you are able to land contracts. My course, Vending Accelerator, provides you the exact blueprint when it comes to securing public and private schools. how many feet away does it have to be from Cafe?

    • @healthyvending
      @healthyvending  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, not enough context. If the the location is 24/7 and the café is closed during a number of hours then it may not matter too much. However, I would say that even placing the machine at a location where there is a café could be questionable depending on what the daily foot traffic is at the location, and also depends on what type of location this is as well. Feel free to give me some more details and I'll happily provide you some feedback.

      Schools can do extremely well as long as the machines are on during the day and accessible to students. I've seen machines do as little as $750 per month to as much as $3,000 per month all from 1 machine. But overall school locations typically perform at the highest level. Think about it, a captive audience of kids for 8 hours per day, what could be better?
