My husband and I just fixed our toilet after months of having to manually refill it. Thank you so much for showing us how! Was a bit of a nightmare as our toilet is built in and it was really difficult to get to the pipes, but after some perseverance and a lot of swearing we got there!
Excellent easy-to-follow instructions with great explanations of why there could be a slow fill. Before finding your video I dismantled the valve with it still in the cistern only to find that there was little or no debris in its upper parts. As you show, to remove the filter on the inlet the whole assembly has to be removed. Unfortunately ours is concealed so the pan and cistern has to be pulled away from the wall to get to the nut holding the valve assembly to the bottom of the cistern. Since our WC is fed from a tank and low pressure I will take your advice and remove the filter altogether.
@@dereton33 I'm gradually working my way through all your videos as this plumbing job keeps going wrong. Went to change tap in kitchen, no isolator. Tried to turn off gate valve, wouldn't shut. Went to change gate valve for full flow ball valve, drain cock didn't flow. Refilled system after job, had air lock. Cleared that, now LP toilet not refilling. Just goes on and on. Thanks for all the videos!
Good man , thank you . When I do a big job it often requires too successive flushes to get a clean bowl - this video has saved me continuing spending time hanging about in my noxious gases waiting for the cistern the refill.... I am forever indebted!!!
Thanks for the video, allowed me to fix the issue in a couple of minutes, though the filter on mine was fixed inside; disassembled the whole unit, cleaned & now working efficiently! Thanks again!
Thank you! My spanner wasn't wide enough to undo the plastic valve nut but after reattaching the metal pipe-to-valve nut and turning the water back on, the problem was FIXED! It must have been a simple air pocket causing the blockage.
Nice video *but* it doesnt actually show *how* you remove the filter! It only shows the filter after removal. Do you drag it out by the nipple, does it screw out etc? I've tried dragging it out with pliers and it won't come.
Hi great vid. My problem is the lid were the buttons are housed will not lift straight off like yours did. Feels like it attached to something so don't no how to proceed ?
Hi. Thanks for video. Having trouble with toilet refilling, sometimes not at all. If I follow your video and clean filter will that likely fix the problem? Thanks again
Can you please tell me what size and type of replacement washer is required after unscrewing the flexi water feed as in 2:50 of your video? Will i need to replace this washer? Thanks
would this be the same issue if say your toilet wasnt filling up as much in the cistern, I have 3 identical toilets all with fluid master flush and fill valves and I have noticed the water level in one is lower than the other two?
Thanks is for this video, mine is boxed so couldn’t do all of it myself. Weirdly when I disconnected the water emptied the cistern and then reconnected it it filled up quickly like normal so I presumed there isn’t a blockage but after flushing it goes back to a very slow fill any ideas? Thanks
What do you do when the long screws under the lid are too long touch the flush button and makes the toilet flush automatically when replaced the lid back on ? ??
Hi, Thanks for the video. I've followed the video but the cistern is still extremely slow @ refilling. It's filling from a tank in the attic & the water supply has a good flow before re-attaching the flexi to the valve. Any ideas or should I just buy a new valve?
Hi pal I've installed a bidet spray to the toilet inlet feed and I've got pressure to the spray gun but no water coming into the water inlet valve ..I've taken the valve out replaced the diaphragm washer which needed doing also cleaned the filter as in the video and put everything back into place - there still doesn't seem to be any water coming into the cistern even though I'm sure water is going into the inlet valve! It has been working for the past week and now the cistern isn't filling .. I'm stumped!
@@dereton33 hi pal it seems as though the plastic lining of the flexi pipe going to the cistern into the inlet valve has deteriorated as there was a lot of blue bits everywhere..took inlet valve off and cleaned everything and left off the bidet and the toilet works perfectly now! Going to re attach the bidet and hopefully it'll all be ok ...wondering whether to buy new flexi feed pipe but unsure how to fit it as one side is push fit I think and unsure how to disconnect it .
@@dereton33 hi pal...all sorted watched your video on removing pushfit fitting took old pvc pipe off which was way too short and very stretched ( I think the original plumber wanted to save a bit of cash) hence the deterioration of the inner blue lined core. Hi mine has a pause of about 25 seconds before it starts to refill, it has only just started doing this after around 4 years but is not slow to fill once it goes ,could it be the same problem Thanks
Mya toilet water is right up to the that drain pipe next to the button switch why is it so high and that the water keeps going didn't stop I have to lift a black arm leaver next to the button but you havnt got in the video next to the two button once you open as I lift it arm then it stop the flash any ideas

dereton33 Hi ,I've just replaced my thermostat could you explain what these settings mean (TEMPERATURE OFFSET ) and ( PROPORTIONAL BANDWiTH ) the reason I'm asking is the boiler comes on for two minutes goes of for 3 minutes but it's not sufficiently keeping the radiators hot over time they become just warm ,I've looked at the settings and cycle rate is 6 cycles per hour , minimum boiler time on is 1.. temperature offset is 0 and PROPORTIONAL BANDWiTH is set at 1.5 these are the factory settings do they need adjusting if so to what settings ? Thanks
Gonna try this in a min, I am hoping this solves my issue! Edit: Didn't work, took it all apart, filter looked fine...so I bathed everything in a little warm water and used an old toothbrush on everything, put it all back together and it's still a little trickle of water when filling back up after a flush >:(
Thanks for the video. I have gone through and cleaned the filter but when I have reassembled. There is no water coming through the infill (I’ve double checked the shut off). Any ideas?
Thank you both of you! My mothers cistern took an hour to fill and she couldn't afford a plumber. Watching your video, I got it fixed in a jiff!
No problem.

No, it is quite staggering.
Your videos are really clear and helpful thank you. Actually also comforting as I always worry about flooding having been flooded once.
Thanks Annette.
Thank you from Oklahoma U.S.A. I knocked it out in just 2min after this video

Yes it does!

They have to be dragged out . They stick fast though and require some time. WD 40 helps.
Who's that women in the middle? I have to say that was a great help as she asked some of my queries...all the best

Check the valve.
any hacks to unscrew the flexi valve that's to tight!? can't get it undone for love nor money!
No afraid not, get rid of it and fit a full bore lever one.

Exactly what I was looking for.. thanks

What do you do when the long screws under the lid are too long touch the flush button and makes the toilet flush automatically when replaced the lid back on ? ??
Is there any other way of cleaning it as our toilet is fully fixed to the wall and there is no access to the outside to take it off
Afraid not.
Is there any other way to do this? I've looked at my toilet and without removing a whole glass double shower panel I can't get to the water piper
Afraid not.
What happens if mine does not have a filter but still had the little rubber part? Should the rubber part come out ?
No that is the seal.
@dereton33 thanks for that, will have a go at that tonight 👍🙂
Good luck with it.
So If you have a tank in the loft does that mean it automatically would feed the toilet.... So becoming a low pressure system?? Tia
Not always.
hello.
I've just fitted a vr rimless toilet connected it back up turned the valve back on and it's no filling up its just dripping into the system
The valve is blocked.

The seat of the valve is a high pressure one, swap it over for a low one

Check there is not an inlet filter, when the feed pipe connects or that if it has a mains reducer that it is not blocked.

How does the flexible hose attach to the water inlet?
Does the inlet water valve come with the flexible hose?
You can buy the hose with a valve attached. The valve end would go onto the copper pipe the other end to your cistern valve , tap or whatever.
