FIRST CLASS Sleeper Train - BANGKOK to KO TAO

- We decided to leave BANGKOK and head South, starting in Koh Tao. We took a first class sleeper train from BANGKOK to CHUMPHON, and then got a ferry over to the island.
This both of our first times on a sleeper train ANYWHERE in the world, and it certainly was an unforgettable experience. Having spoken to people since we now realise we had booked tickets for one of the older trains, which is why we were confused when we got to our cabin and realised it wasn't anything like the videos we had seen.
We then got to Chumphon, got a mini-bus over to the pier and got on a speedboat (which we had expected to be a ferry) over to Koh Tao.
The journey was 11 hours long, and between the lack of sleep on the train and an hour and a half on a speedboat, we certainly got a well deserved rest once we had reached Koh Tao.
We hope you enjoy this video more than Louie enjoyed his choice of snack (which he never did end up eating).

ABOUT US:
We are Dion👩🏼(23) and Louie🧑🏻🦱(24) from Watford, England. We have been together for 4 years and have always enjoyed travelling to different countries in our free time. Collectively we have been to 10 countries so far and on this trip we're hoping to add at least 11 more to that list🌏
Both of us were working in Sales and spent the last year and a half saving up, originally it was to buy a house but whilst we were stuck at home with none of the freedoms we were used to during the pandemic, we realised there was a lot more life had to offer and saw what an amazing opportunity we had to travel the world for at least a few years, and that it was the perfect time for us to do so.
From this, we booked our flights to Thailand, packed our bags and said goodbye to our friends and family to begin the adventure of a lifetime✈️

555. A steep learning curve. Been here 15 years now. One of the things I have learnt is to take my own pillow. Beds are usually hard and the pillows big and hard. Enjoy you travels. From a fellow blue.

I've done this trip a few times - although not for quite a few years.
A few tips:
I don't know if it's still a thing, but scammer touts used to operate around Bangkok station trying to convice travellers that the sleeper train is fully booked and they'll have to take a bus instead - if you fall for it you'll end up on a 20 hour journey on a shitty uncomfortable minibus populated with pickpockets in the employ of the owners.
So don't fall for that.
Don't be put off by second class - especially on the outward journey to Chumphon.
You don't get a private cabin but it's one hell of a party
Hahaha love the sun burnt faces, the sun is very strong even through the clouds. Be careful though, you don't want sunburn to ruin your trip. Keep the content coming, really enjoying it ❤️

They have the newer trains and the old one that you took, so next time make sure to book a new train.
Yeah we heard not long after we’d been on it, will go for the newer train next time haha!
If you have a chance, try a trip to Chiangmai by first-class train or first-class bus. Try it and you will have another exciting experience.
We’ve heard a lot of good reviews about the first class train to Chiang Mai so we may have to give that one a go too!☺️
@@TravelstoFreedom It seems like different routes use older or newer coaches and the Chiang Mai line may use much more updated coaches. The sleeper car you were on appears older and had what looked like squat loo's for the restroom.

Asian toilets style you have to squat down most of them changes to western style already.
It was certainly a different experience for us! Perhaps we’ll try a more modern train soon
