I absolutely love that headphone. It does have one hell of a midrange. Currently I own the D-8000 from Final and I always felt the LCD 5 should be the next high end headphone to buy to complement the D-8000 nicely. It is an awesome headphone. LCD 5 is better than the LCD4 for my tastes.
I love my LCD4 for listening, but I couldn’t imagine doing any of my mix work for the past year without the LCD5s. They’re wonderful mixing and mastering tools, rivaling my ExMaxhina Quasar MKII!
LCD-5's are my favorite but I feel it is missing bass impact and slam. I end up using with MM-500 or Clear MGs. I like just about everything else on the 5's. I'm thinking the ZMF Calderas open or closed might be close to the LCD-5's and also have the missing low end punch and slam...or are the Atriums the ones I should be looking to get? I'm a musician, so I want to hear what I have recorded...the good and the bad. Also, how others have recorded tracks. What Caldera, pads, and cables would get me the LCD-5 sound with low end punch and slam?
I’m sensitive to treble, not midrange, so these are one of my favorite pairs. And the fact that it can pull out so much detail without emphasizing the treble makes them incredibly resolving. If I had to choose, I’d probably still take the new Utopia, but I kinda go back and forth between the two.
I sold mine after I got my U12t. And that pales in comparison to my Annihilator 23, which pales in comparison to my Empire Ears Raven regarding pure listening enjoyment and excitement.😊
I got to try it at Canjam London, using a Holo Audio stack, it sounded boxy and made me wonder why people like it. I was actually in disbelief at what I was hearing.
GM ☕️🍩..interesting “review” .. AUDEZE has an interesting “house sound”..case in point my LCDX 2021 Creators Edition..it excels with edm ,movie OST and unless the recording of the vocal tracks are done PERFECTLY…there’s a dip at 4k that can be noticeable …otherwise they are a perfect accompaniment to my Sen’s 650’s . With the Audiofest coming up soon ..I’m interested in auditioning both the CRBN and the 5’s . Great video 👍
Kudos for your retake on the LCD-5. It’s indeed far from perfect, but the concept of the “least imperfect” is spot on. The technical qualities of the LCD-5 are impressive. Its unforgiving nature as a studio tool will reveal the flaws of a system from the first minute of listening, which bothers many audiophiles. However, if you make the LCD-5 work in your rig, almost every other headphone will perform well. Its reasonable efficiency is actually a drawback and likely the reason why it hasn’t worked for various listeners; as you mentioned, the sonic result of plugging it into a low-quality source is awful. It can be a good headphone for critical listening and a useful tool for system/source evaluation, but it truly benefits from using the Audeze-Bob Katz EQ to become a more enjoyable experience.
the funny thing is harman neutral isnt a real thing, with flat bass and rolled off treble, the balance just makes the midrange sound even MORE forward because its all relative to each other
Not a perfect headphone at all. "Least imperfect" if you watch the video and it's a question not an answer ;). Just making sure I don't come off the wrong way.
Nice revisit to the LCD-5! It does have the potential to be a perfect headphone. I wanted this headphone to be my one and only but it didn’t work for me. Never found the right chain for it and would get listening fatigue within 5 minutes of using it. Not sure if it was my unit, the angle pads, my own HRTF paired with the flagship Audeze… it is unfortunate because it was comfortable, highly resolving and with great bass!
Sold it happily....kept the LCD-2 and LCD-X. The 5 came close, but disappointment in bass area, does well otherwise.Donot recommend for trance, techno. Ok for non bass music.
Just wait a year or two. Since Sony bought Audeze about 2 years ago, they will come out with a new perfect flagship soon. The Z1R hasn’t been updated for years now, and a Sony Audeze planar magnetic will drop soon
Rubbish, the LCD-5 is definitely NOT a perfect headphone. It has impressive detail retrieval and neutrality in the mids and highs but the hollowed out low end and lack of physicality is a huge no from me. It only sounds decent with a ton of EQ. Susvara and Utopia are so much more enjoyable than the LCD-5. Even on the DCS Lina the LCD-5 is just not enjoyable next to Utopia and Susvara. 👎

How does Lcd5 compare to ZMF Caldera Closed .
Wish you would index your videos with time points
Did you compare to caldera?

I would only get lcd5 for m&m. even mm500 is nice but too heavy

Great review of the Audeze LCD5 headphones, keep the reviews coming!
Also, what's your take on Grado headphones, love 'em or hate 'em?

Awesome you have found bliss with IEMs. The Raven is great fun. I want to get it in at some point.

Steven Wilson uses this for stereo mixes.
Sajit, thank you for another wonderful headphone review, although I am not a fan of Audeze.

Can you drop me the EQ profile

Perfect headphone is different for everyone, for me it's the stax sr-009 + a good hybrid tube amp and a R2R dac.

So LCD4 would be better for heavy metal? I need to know I'm about to buy a used one.
I think so. Definitely.
Could you point me to some of the aftermarket headbands? I can't seem to find any
No I meant to say Audeze itself sells a wider headband for the LCD5
Sold it happily....kept the LCD-2 and LCD-X. The 5 came close, but disappointment in bass area, does well otherwise.Donot recommend for trance, techno. Ok for non bass music.
The only thing LCD-4 needed was bring down its weight.
Detail retrieval best than Utopia 22 ? And susvara ?
In some ways, yes. Amping does help the Sus open up more.
No talk about EQ?
That's where you come in. Can you link an EQ profile or send me by Whatsapp? Happy to post it seperately in the community section.
Are you joining? LCD 5 and Susvara are in different wolds 😂
Just go with the Arya organic, save a lot of money and it’ll give you everything
I used to think so. Lately, the thinness bugs me.
I found it way too bright
Demo unit sold already? Lol

Baited breath, mate. Big fan of Sony here.
No, the Koss Porta Pro exist
Fair
Of course it isn't.
$4500 ??? 😂🤣😄
this is when you've fallen so far down the audiophile rabbit hole that it might not be possible to return to the surface of sanity .
Turn back now! 😛
I spent $3600 on an iem. Come at me. COME AT ME!!!
Lol not sure how regularly you follow the market. Flagships nowadays go for $10,000-$12,000. Check out the Raal Immanis.

Interesting, what type of music you listen to?
@@mhortop1 Agreed! 💯
Agree. Audeze>hifiman
"Ton of EQ" you literally only need like 5 bands of EQ and it becomes perfect
@@barbaralombroso4422How do you eq them?
bold to assume that the LCD 5 is "perfect"
Didn't assume such - watch the vid.
Honestly, "made in USA" should automatically come with a discount. Absolute shit QC, looking at you Audeze & ZMF 😂
